In the engine compartment on the drivers side towards the back of the car there is an overflow reservoir. The reservoir is a sphere, off-white in color and has a 3" diameter black cap that screws on. The cap made to loosen by hand, but usually takes a lot of strength and grunting to remove.
WARNING! Do not remove the cap if the engine is warm, hot coolant may spray out and cause severe burns!
There are coolant level marks printed on the side of the reservoir. Because of the age of the plastic reservoir, it is no longer transparent. This means the coolant level cannot be checked without removing the cap an looking inside.

It should be on the left side of trans where the shift levers are. It is called the neutral safety switch and the backup light switch is built into the same switch. So, this switch allows your car to only be started in park or neutral and when in reverse, it will turn on the backup lights. There are four wires on the neutral safety switch with a square connector on the end.
How do you change the daylight running lights on a 2001 Chevy Suburban?
Lift the hood and behind the headlamps there are two L shaped rods that insert into the harness of the head lamps. Rotate the rods toward the grill, this unlocks the rods. Next remove the rods and this frees up the head lamps. Remove the headlamps from the grill allowing for access to the daytime running lamps. I left the headlamp wiring harnesses intact. The daytime running lamps have a lever that you push to unlock and then rotate to release and then you can change out the bulb easily. Reverse steps to replace lamp assemblies. This was a difficult find until I caught on to the above and then took less than five minutes. Have fun.

the air filter is in a black box with a big hose on it, going to the engine...and a couple of clips holding it on...unclip the box lid, and lift gently so as not to damage any hoses....wiggle out the filter and slide in the new one....re-clip...and be happy:) also, you should be able to find a shop manual at the library, you'll have to make copies of the sections you want as they are reference only, but everyone should have a regualar manual for their vehicle, available at an auto parts store....may the force be with you :)

On the VW automatic transmission of this generation vehicle, the transmission is supposed to be serviced only by VW, so there is not the typical dip stick tube that comes up into the engine compartment. You can check the fluid and add if needed through the fill spout, under the car, located directly on the transmission pan. There is a short 2" tube with a red cap, unscrew the cap which also has a fluid level indicator attached, similar to a power steering dipstick. If it is any help, on my 1995 (4.0 HO ) it is on the intake manifold. If you are standing on the dirvers side of the vehicle looking in the engine compartment, look to the right of the TB carburator. There are two vacume ports with vacume tubing and one port with a two wire harness going to the sensor. This is you IAT sensor.( It is commomnly unpluged and after market diodes are attached for better performance or mileage)
