I wouldn't disconnect the battery, you'll have to reset a lot of electronics - radio code, auto up windows, auto close sunroof, seat memory settings, etc. I simply removed my brake pad wear sensors when I replaced my front brake pads. I then had to connect a piece of paper clip to close the circuit on the wire leads quick connect assembly, holding it in place with electrical tape. No more aggrivating break pad wear indicator light....

I would think that it is just a stored code. Try disconnecting the positive battery cable from the battery for 10 seconds with the key switch on but the engine not running. This should reset the computer. If the light comes back on, the sensor may need replacement.

If you mean the "Check Brake light" , message that comes in the display , this is normal. even if you change the pads , it will not go. this is a German way to show you : please safety is very important : everytime you want to use your car check the break lights if they are ok.

Yes you have to replace the worn pad sensor to get the Brake Wear Indicator Light to go off. The pad sensor will wear away and trigger the light. It will go off onnce you replace them. Please keep in mind that this is the Brake Wear Sensor Light and not the Brake System Warning Light. The Brake Warning Light will come on if there are Hydrualic Pressure related problems.

Hi, I have the 93, mine is a stick. 2.5 liter. It is hidden. Take off the underengin cover. 6 or 9 15mm bolts I believe. After this is off crawl under the car, find the oil plug, look up about 15 inchers. The filter is about the size of a can of soup. When you remove the filter, oil will drip down the back of the engine. Good Luck

Since the Cherokee is a unibody (Has no actual frame) this is a bit more involved than one might think. You must drill a series of large 3/4 holes on either side of the "frame rail" and place a plate over the holes inside the passenger comaprtment under the comaprtment. the mounting bolts go through these plates through the body and through the hitch under the truck.this "sandwich" approach is what keeps the bolts from tearing through the sheetmetal. All in all If you are a reasonably skilled do it your selfer it's not too bad. you will need a large drill bit. and to carefully measure so the holes all line up. A word of caution the Cherokee is a fine little truck, Keep in mind the word "Little" as in it will not safely control some of the huge loads it will actually pull. use common sense. Hidden Hitch has a hitch that bolts on through preexisting holes in the frame. It even has this spring loaded thing that helps you fish the bolts through the frame rails to get them in place. I got mine at quadratec for about $150.00

Add: As I found out today, some hitches optimize different existing holes... making it much more challenging. Look at yours and line up the holes before you go about drilling.

The thermostat is taking long time to change. Is situated in right side of the engine (from front of vehicule). Just follow the big hose from the radiator and you will see the headbow. It's between the exaust manifold extension and the engine just below the throttle body. If you want to change it and make it easier, you will have to remove the throttle body (consist in 3 bolts). Once is done, just remove the headbow and that's it. (the job is approximately 1 hour and half for professionnal and more thant 3 hours for user).

This can be caused by an exaust leak close to to your engine. Breathing exaust fumes can be harmful, get this checked out by a machanic.

There is a release screw on the radiator. Get a container to catch the coolant. Place the container under the release plug and unscrew the plug.

Older campers had smaller engines, where slower, but got better gas mileage.

A Vanagon camper van (1984-1991) got around 18-20mpg. The 1980-1983 Vanagons did worse, but the 1968-1979 baywindow buses did better. the early baywindows (1968-1971) and splitties (1967 and earlier) could get 24 mpg on the highway.

The ABS warning light can come on for a variety of reasons. You will have to have the vehicle connected to a code reader to find out the specific trouble code. Many auto parts stores will do this at no cost.

You need to turn (screw, rotate) the piston clockwise in the caliper a large number of times to make it fully retract. You can insert some kind of tool into the indentations in the face of the piston, or grip the very top edge of the piston with pliers in order to turn it. It has to be fully retracted to allow enough space for "new" pads to be installed.
