sounds like your clutch needs to be replaced, could be a pre-exsisting problem with your transmission if you bought it from someone else privately. people do not really take care of their transmissions, it may be due for a flush as well as a little tlc....if its grinding and clunking you may need to replace the whole thing. but first check out all the gears, solenoids, filters, and flush the tranny before taking your tracker apart.

How do you remove a door panel and handle to repair a VW Bug Window?
It has been awhile but I believe you get started by prying off the cover of the inside door handle, it just snaps on. There are a couple screws remove them. Then it seems like there are about three more attatchments along the bottom of the door panel. Remove the cover and and the screws, then I think that you just kind of pull and and lift. You should be able to reach in and disconnect the wiring before completely removing the paneling. It has been several years and I'm telling you from memory. But the key is finding those hidden screws.
How do you fill the water in a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle?
Add coolant to the overflow bottle. USE ONLY VW PINK ANTI-FREEZE!! ________________________________________________________________ VW's historically had air-cooled engines but they now have a closed cooling system. The coolant overflow bottle is part of the pressurized cycling system and this is where you would fill it when it is cool. Due to the design of this system, the common problem of reservoir failures occur when the bottle splits and needs to be replaced. y-think-y
How do you install a starter on a 73 vw beetle?
Hi Used to have a VW many years ago and really enjoyed taking the engine in and out, and working on it in general and found it quite easy.Untill I can find my VW manual which I still have somewere, as far as I can recall,I think there is a panel in floor that comes out behind the rear seat, (drivers side ?) that enables you to get at the bolts though I think some under the car work is needed to get the wireing undone, quite a simple job really. Hope this is of some help, if you require further please let me know and I will search for my manual. Remove your battery cables before doing anything. If you haven't taken it out yet, the starter is on the passenger side, there are two bolts to remove or replace. (Taking your wheel off really helps to get at them also.) One is a dual use, its also your motor mount. The nut is inside the engine bay behind the fan. I'm not sure when they changed the head of that bolt, the later models have a half moon shape or a half head that slides right next to the starter so the bolt doesn't rotate when you take the nut off. My '72 and '75 Supers have it. Just remember to slide the half head in the right way as the head will bind against the starter and not tighten the right way. You just need someone to hold their finger on the bolt head until you get the nut started. The earlier years are just regular head ones so you have to hold a wrench on the bolt so it doesn't turn. The other bolt just bolts into the block. Just remember to mark the wires when taking them off.
Where are VW cylinder numbers?
On VW aircooled engines (used in the old beetles) it is as follows.
Standing at the back of the vehicle, looking at the engine the cylinder on the left closest to you is #4, the one behind it (nearer to the front of the car) is #3. On the right side the one closest to you is #2, the one further away is #1
so:
(front of car)
3 ---- 1

Firing order is 1-4-3-2 just up dated this asit was wrong

How do you check transmission fluid on a 2007 vw beetle?
Transmission Fluid Level Check Volkswagen Beetle (1998-2010)
Our research indicates that your vehicle does not have a transmission fluid dipstick. These types of transmissions are designed to be maintenance free. In order to check the transmission fluid, your vehicle likely has check valve on the bottom of the transmission on the bottom of your car. Your car must be level when the fluid is checked and we therefore recommend having a mechanic with a hydraulic lift or underground bay check your transmission fluid.

How do you replace bulbs in the head lights of a 1998 Lexus 300?
Changing any bulb on a Lexus is a challenge. The most difficult part is determining the exact process. The first time might take 2 hours while the second 20 minutes or less. While I have changed the headlight bulbs on my 90 LS400, I haven't on a ES300. My suggestion is to go to lexusownersclub.com and post a question in the ES300/330 forum. Someone there will know and help you as it is the best Lexus forum available. You might also try lextreme.com as he is alos really good. VBDENNY
