Where is the oxygen sensor located in a 92 ford f250?
On the exhaust pipe between the engine and the catalytic converter
One is for certain under the hood, in the exhaust manifold with a wire attached to it. You will need a special socket to replace it. I believe it is a 22 mm socket, deep well and the side is partially cut away to allow for the wiring harness that goes with it. You can take out the old one with a regular 22 mm deep well, just cut off the wiring leads as it is just anyway, unclip the one end, cut it away at the sensor end. To put the new one back on with the wire lead you need the cut away side wall of this special tool. Just a socket with a large gap in the side. Easy to do, but might be "welded" in due to corrosion. I had to rethread the hole when I was done.
What happens to gas in a catalytic converter?
the gases are converted to less harmful gases as nox to no2
Are 2006.5 KIA Optima catalytic converters covered under warranty?
In the USA original equipment catalytic converters are generally covered under the 8 year, 80,000 mile federal emissions warranty.
Where is the oxygen sensor on a 2000 Nissan Frontier?
My 1999 Frontier actually has two oxygen sensors. One in front of the catalytic converter "upstream" and one after "downstream" which constitutes double the cost. The best thing to do is find out which one is bad before you replace them.P.S. the catalitic converter is inline with the exhaust system.
Additionally, You can get the Entire "2000 Nissan Frontier" Official Service / Repair Manual for less than 10 bucks.
Where is the O2 Oxygen Sensor found in 2000 Honda Odysseys?
Somewher on the exhaust system. Start at the engine and work backward. It's on your exhaust manifold fairly close to the bottom flange. It looks like a bolt with a wire sticking out the middle of the head.
How do you replace the oxygen sensor on a 1997 Jeep Wrangler?
Unplug sensor cable from connector. Use 7/8" Oxygen Sensor socket, available at most auto supply and tool stores for around $10, to remove the sensor (It's a deep well with a slot cut up the side to clear the four wires that come out of the end of the sensor) . Insert new sensor using the same socket. The threads should have anti-seize compound already applied to them by the manufacturer. That is adequate. Plug the sensor connector into it's mate. That one is done. There are two Oxygen sensors on my '97 Wrangler. One is in the downpipe just after the connection to the exhaust manifold and the other is just after the catalytic converter. Easy to do!
Why would same diagnostic code up up twice for oxygen sensor that was changed and replaced already?
THERE IS MORE THAN ONE
AnswerPresuming you didn't manually reset the code reader, which is done by using a computer plugged into the system (in which case it better be cleared for at least a short while or you've got a bad sensor, reader or elec connection), not terribly plain English of how I understand it:There is a part of the sensor/computer operations that continually runs tests automatically and records values (that can differ), but if accumulated (the term I always heard) over a few runs indicate a problem then identifies and sends the error code. If you haven't reset it, just driving the car with a good 02 sensor through a few cycles...which are also determined by on off of key, until it overrides itself and sees a good reading and turns off light is all that is needed. Differs as does the computer determing good values and what tests to run when, but a handlful of on offs and 50 miles or so is standard to do it.

Where is the oxygen sensor on a 97 Chevy Cavalier?
The front o2 sensor is just to the left of the battery. It's a little tube with a wire that is plugged in right before the exhaust pipe.
Where is the oxygen sensor located on 2003 Toyota Sequoia?
There are 2 oxygen sensors - one pre-cat and one post catyltic convertor. They are on the passenger side, in the manifold. Be sure to check the trouble code to identify which one might be defective.
It's not very likely that a 4 cylinder will have 2 banks, unless the engine is in a "v" confinguration. Haven't heard of a V-4, but it's possible.
Oxygen sensors for inline engines are on the exhaust manifold, just past the point where all 4 cylinders have joined.
There are two . One is ahead of the converter & one is below the converter. They are called upstream & downstream sensors.
How many oxygen sensors and where are they located on an 04 Nissan Frontier King Cab?
There are 2 oxygen sensors on an 04 frontier pickup 2.4litre. One is located after the catalytic converter (on the exhaust Pipe) and the other is between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter.
How do you replace an O2 sensor on a Plymouth breeze?
This is on a 1999 Plymouth Breeze. There are two O2 Sensors. Bank 2 is between the engine and the firewall. You will have to lift up the front end and reach it from the bottom side. There is a 7/8" nut attaching the sensor to the exhaust. You will need a long handled open end to reach up through this area and the car needs to be allowed to cool first. This end could also be ceased onto the exhaust so you may need to allow WD-40 or some other lubrcant to sit on it over night for it to loosen. Remove the nut end and unclip the electrical end. This is the difficult part one handed due to the space limitations. Make sure you have plenty of light to assist with the reattachment of the electrical end.
Bank 1 is close to the catalytic convertor on the passenger side. It is easy to get to and replace. Same as before just loosen the nut and undo the electrical end. The part I have not figured out yet is the clip that holds the wires up. the rest is easy. Warning! Do not get any lubricant on the sensor end or it will mess up the part.
Where are the oxygen sensors located?
Oxygen sensors are usually located on the exhaust just after the exhaust manifold and just ahead of the catalytic converter Depending on model as some have one sensor, some have two and some have four of them, I would look just before and just after the catalytic converter. The sensor reads oxygen content and reports back to the Powertrain control module (computer) the one before and the one after have a different reading as the converter changes the content. The PCM evauluates and change the fuel air mixure to correct.
How do you disconect check engine light 95 Geo Tracker?
On most carss to reset the dummy lights you need to unhook the battery and wait aboout 10 min then rehook it and this should reset the system.
reset check engine lightYou need a cose reader that can reset it, auto parts stores sell them and some will hook one up to check codes and reset for free in hopes you will buy the part. AnswerHi, Try looking for a switch that should be located under the left side of the instrument panel. You may need to remove the small plastic panel under the steering column to make this a bit easirr.Sometimes a switch can be hard to see so a good light and a willingness to bend backwards to see under the instrument panel.I alsop put a blanket over the door edge and seat tracks so I don't get them in my back. Steve H.Can you clean an oxygen sensor on a 1998 Dodge Dakota?
No, they must be replaced when they wear out. Sure. Pull it out, clean the end with a wire wheel or brush and re-install. O2 sensors don't usually fail, they just get dirty.
Where is the left oxygen sensor located on a 1994 Cadillac Seville when you have a sls code PO17?
The front oxygen sensor on the 4.6L is located in the exhaust manifold before the catalytic convertor.
An alternator cannot "short" out for years or even minutes. The definition of a short is a wire or circuit touching ground to cause a fuse to blow. The circuit is too "short" for the current to flow through the proper load and back to the battery. The voltage regulator in a alternator can act up from time to time and cause improper charging from the alternator. Or a component of the alternator can go bad and cause a charging system problem intermittently. Your question needs to be explained better to give a better answer.
Where are the O2 sensors located for a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD 5.3l?
There are four oxygen sensors for this vehicle - two for each bank of cylinders. They are located on the exhaust pipes just ahead of and after the catalytic converters - sometimes referred to as "upstream" and "downstream" of the catalytic converters. Bank 1 refers to the bank of cylinders where cylinder number is located, which is the left or driver's sidde. Sensor 1 is located ahead of (closer to the engine) the catalytic converter. Sensor 2 is located after the converter. The same goes for bank 2.
Where is the Upstream o2 sensor located on a 96 Honda accord?
They are typically on the exhaust manifold.
How hard is it to change the oxygen sensors on a 2000 Honda Civic EX?
There are two sensors. one is on the exhaust manifold and the other is under the car before the catalytic converter. i assume you are getting a check engine light if you have a bad sensor. take it someplace to have it tested to see which one it is. advance auto did it for me. although both are easily accessible, they can be near impossible sometimes to remove. my upper one on the exhaust manifold was bad. i was unable to get it out. i ended up bying a stainless exhaust manifold on eBay for less or the same it would have cost me to have the old sensor removed. i also bought the sensor on eBay for cheap. do not get bosch sensor. they are notoriously bad. i would suggest that you try using a penetrating oil on the threads for a few days and then try to remove it. i even used a mapp gas torch which you can buy at home depot etc on it but i had no luck. the torch however made removal of the manifold very easy causing the bolts to come off while using a foot long extension on my socket wrench. good luck, rob
How many oxygen sensors are there in a 1999 Toyota Sienna?
Three O2 Sensors. one in each exhaust manifold before the catalytic converters. then one after the cat.
----
How to replace your downstream O2 sensor (the one after the cat, that's threaded into the exhaust pipe).
You need a Bosch 13353 Oxygen Sensor. This sensor IS an EXACT fit/replacement for your downstream sensor on a 1998 (1st gen) Toyota Sienna --- down to the wire holding clip.
The downstream sensor's connector on a 1998 (1st gen) Sienna is located under the front passenger seat.
*Remove the 4 - 14mm bolts holding down the seat.
*Prop the seat upward.
*Pull back on the carpeting slit to reveal the connector.
*Pinch the connector to remove the female end of it.
*Use a needle nose pliers to pull up and remove the rubber grommet from the floorboard, then push it down through the hole.
*Jack up the right front (behind right front wheel), then use a jack stand for safety.
Note: Make sure the exhaust pipe is well-warmed to the touch - for easier removal of the old sensor.
*Use a 22mm box wrench (counter-clockwise) to remove the old downstream sensor from the exhaust pipe.
*Install the new sensor (already contains anti-seize compound). Do not overtighten.
*Snake the wires/connector up through the floorboard.
*Use your needle nose pliers to pull the grommet up through the floorboard, then massage it into place with your fingers.
*Click the female connector into place.
*Re-install the seat.
Hey! You just saved big $bucks$ by doing this yourself.
