How do you start a seagull engine that wont start Am i doing somthing wrong?
Don't know if you're doing something wrong - you haven't said what you're doing or what model British Seagull engine that you have.
Be sure to try starting the engine in a tub of water.
Be sure your fuel mixture is correct (see any of the British Seagull sites for correct mixture for your model).
Be sure you have the right amount and right weight oil in the gear box.
Be sure the spark plug is the right one and is properly gapped.
After all that, either in a tub/tank of water or on the boat (and my British Seagull is a FeatherWeight 40, and therefore doesn't have a clutch or neutral - so the boat must be facing the direction I want to go...the minute the engine starts):
1) Open the brass part of the gas cap 1/2 turn (the bottom part of the gas cap remains firmly in place);
2) Reach around the back of the engine and pull out the brass fuel flow button (I think it says "Pull out" or something equally instructive);
3) Close the throttle (that thin slice of metal near what appears to be a muffler);
4) Find the little round button that pushes up and down and push it until gas drips from the fuel line (unfortunately, it drips into the water - not environmentally conscious);
5) Put the speed controller button (usually controlled by your thumb) all the way open
6) Wrap the starter cord around the pulley in the direction the arrows point;
7) Take your hand off the pulley - maybe rest it on the gas tank. When the engine starts, the pulley rotates rapidly and can cut or burn your hand if it is in the wrong place.
8) Pull the starter cord. Pull it again if it doesn't start.
9) If it continues not to start, try opening the throttle (the thin piece of metal near the muffler); and or let the engine rest before trying again. It may be flooded.
10) If it still doesn't start, take it to someone to be tuned up. There's a lot of old guys around who know about this engine and may be able to help.
11) If it still doesn't start - hey, its a British Seagull engine and has vowed to drive you crazy.
How to install a new starter in a Chevy 1975 with a 305 engine?
I just installed a strter in my 1975 Ford F-100, 400 V8. I am a novice mechanic and I was able to do the job with little trouble. Just remove the wire and remove the mounting bolts(on mine there were only 2 and they were obvious).
The starter slides out and the install is just as simple. My only issue was clearance on the back bolt. I just had to use very short strokes on the ratchet.
Good Luck.
but a chevy and ford not the same ford bolts to the bell housing. chevy bolts to the block. chevy has wires to the starter. ford goes to the fender well.
You might try to jiggle the steering wheel a little, press the brakes while you try to start, and make sure your car is in park.
Where is the crank shaft position sensor located on a 1994 Plymouth sundance?
Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, mounted on end of engine block
How do you find out what the fuse configuration is on the fuse block on a Ford Windstar?
There are 2 fuse boxes / fuse panels in nearly every Ford product: one directly above the driver's left foot (when the driver is actually sitting in the driver's seat). The other is inside the engine compartment, on the right side - contains high current fuses.
There is extensive coverage of fuses and the circuits each one protects Owners Manual.
See "Related Questions" below for sources of free online Owners Manuals for 1996+ Ford & Mercury products.
Checking & Changing A FuseInside the fusebox cover is a small white plastic tool for pulling fuses out.
Inspect the center section of the fuse to determine if it has 'blown' - it will be obvious if the metal strip has melted.
Insert a replacement fuse of the same color / amperage protection by simply pressing it into the fuse-slot.
Checking a fuseGenerally, if a fuse is 'blown' you can tell by looking at the fuse. Look at the wire looking thing in the top on the fuse. It'll look kind of broken or burned or just otherwise messed up. If you're not sure what a good fuse looks like, go to an auto store and look at a new fuse. Then look at your fuses and compare appearances.
Getting the engine compartment Power Distribution box cover offThere are actually two separate covers. One is for the circuit breakers and one for the fuses. There's a tab in the center that you squeeze together and it pops off. In the cover you'll find spare fuses and a puller. If you still need to get the breaker cover off, there's a tab on the corner marked "lift". With the other cover removed, you can then unsnap the tab and wiggle it out.
Go to the dealer service dept and ask them to photocopy the diagram out of their service manual for you. They should do this for you with no problem.

AnswerUnder the dash just to the left of the steering column.
Underneath the drivers side kick-board / panel underneath the steering column.
One fuse box is located under the hood by the battery. Another is under the left side of the dash. Carl
Not real sure for this model but I think there is a fuse box by the battery under the hood and another one under the left side of the dash. Carl
power fuses are next to battery in a black looking contaner there is a lid that has to be removed. the regular fuses are located underneaath the dashboard on the drivers side above your left foot... if you are sitting in the van
there are two fuse boxes, one is in the engine compartmente near de battery, the other one is under de driver side near the steering column.
It depends on the fuse. Most of the fuses in use today are small plug-in plastic devices. Simply grab them with needle nose pliers or a fusepuller and pull them straight out. They are color coded as to ampacity. There are two fuse blocks in the Windstar. One is in the engine room by the battery. The other is under the left side of the dash. Enjoy.... Carl
you can go to www.alldatadiy.com and you can buy a subscription for a year just for 25 bucks plus they have a lot information about your car, works pretty good for me.
AnswerI think I seen it on this sight http://autorepair.about.com/cs/generalinfo/l/bl_img_ford023.htm
you have to look around. there are a lot of pages.
Click on the link below Click on Owner Guides The owners manual ( which includes the fuse box diagram ) can be viewed on-line The interior fuse panel is located under the dash panel on the left side wall near the driver side of the vehicle. it is enclosed with a black plastic cover. The power distribution unit fuse panel is a black plastic box located in the engine area near the battery, the battery should be disconnected before replacing fuses in the power distribution unit according to the owner's manual. The fuse box is located on the drivers side about half way up from the floor, it is mounted on the side and is made of black plastic roughly 4 inches wide and 6 inches high. The cover just snaps on and off.Click on the "Ford Website" link below

It can be found under the left side of the dash.with a fully charged battery and clean connections to the starter and battery check fuses first and if good, replace ignition switch under steering column
When a car starts then dies is it the battery causing it?
If you have power enough in your battery to start the car, then this is not the likely cause.
Maybe the carburetor is in need of a proper rinse.
How do you change a starter on a 1993 Ranger?
On a 1993 ford ranger 2 wheel drive 2.3L. Be sure to disconnect the battery before starting. First locate the starter on the bottom passenger side (under the hood), then remove the positive and negative wires connected to it by either removing the clip or unscrewing the 1/2 inch nut. Then remove the three (3), 1/2 inch by about 4 inch bolts with a socket or whatever. once those three bolts are out, you can just pull the whole thing out and then put the new one in, bolt it in and connect the wires the same way ou removed them.
Peace to your nines. I wouldn't want them to heat up. I don't wish that on anyone, kid.
Hey. Curious do you have an autostarter installed? If you do does it work? Also check your fuses they should be installed on the 12volt power feeds to the starter brain box somewhere under the dash!!!
How do you check if you have a faulty crankshaft sensor on a 106 independence?
Crankshaft sensors usually either work or they don't. However, using a vom meter, you can test the resistance of the sensor to see if its working.
How do you correct code p1682?
P1682 A/T FI Signal A High Input (Acura, Honda)P1682 Charging System Voltage Too Low (Chrysler, Jeep)
Sometimes in damp climates where it is damp in the morning or after dark the vehicle will not start due to the spark plug wires being too old and the insulation is rotted and arcing. all the energy is dissipating before it gets to the cylinders. turn the lights off of check in low light conditions and have a buddy turn the car over you may be able to see the sparks dissipating on the engine from the wires. replace the wires with good 8mm insulated spark plug wires. good luck!
What are the signs that your transmission computer is going bad?
A bad computer could cause several problems. The car may not shift properly. The overdrive might not work. In some models the transmission may stay in forward gears no matter what the selector is set to.
Why won't my Vt commodore start will turn over but won't start?
Its likely it could be your crank angle sensor. take it to the mechanic and get it scanned. the problem should show up
How do you remove ignition barrel on vt?
The ignition barrel can be removed by removing the retaining ring. The barrel will slide out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the barrel.
Sometimes a weak spark in an internal combustion engine can be caused by dirty spark plugs. It can also be caused by weak distributor coils.
What is wrong if you hear a loud grinding noise when you try to start an 89 Crown Victoria?
It sounds like you need either a flywheel or the bendix on the starter is worn out. Easy fix if it is starter.
My car battery run down and then my car wont start just clicks?
Get a jump start from somebody else, and then figure out what it was you left turned on or plugged in to drain your battery. If it happens again, replace the battery.
By the way, this is why you should belong to AAA or another road-service club.
Where is your starter on a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant?
show me in a picture where is the starter for a 2001 mitsubshi galant
Are wider tires better than narrow tires?
Wider tires give better traction, esp in less than perfect conditions.
Narrow tires would give better speed and/or gas mileage.
One might think that but not necessarily, it depends on the road surface. Why do ice skates have thin blades? What do you think a wide racing tire would do on a flooded street? Even in dry conditions, a wider tire won't change your traction because even if you have more area (square inches) on the ground, you have less weight per square inch so traction remains the same. How soft the tire is is the biggest factor.
How do you check to see if engine is firing?
You can do of a dew different ways by sound or sight start the van and remove the plug wires one by one and listen for changes in the sound of the motor or you can remove the plugs from the block and keep the wire connected to see if you have spark that way..just use insulated plyers when doing this to avoid shock
