What would cause a car not to start especially when there is a new starter?
you need 3 things to start an engine: 1) the engine has to crank; this uses the starter and associated wiring, switches, and relays (solenoids).
2) Gas or fuel; this entails the carbuerator or fuel inject systems to be in good order.
3) Spark; has to happen at the right time in the right sequence of events and includes the spark plug, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if so equipped) and a condenser for points type ignition systems. Also the ignition coil(s) must work. They produce the high voltage for the spark.
How do you free a frozen cylinder on a Kohler engine?
depending on why and how it became frozen. I would remove the spark plug, squirt a good amount of fluid, something stronger than wd 40, let it set a few days then squirt a good amount of marvel mystery oil to handle any rust that may be there. It is is rust you probably need to check for a crack form the water jacket to the cylinder, good luck
Bought new battery car will not start could this be a bad alternator?
If car cranks over and won't start it is not the starter, alternator or battery. Most likely the ignition wires or module, fuel delivery system or air intake meter.
Is the orange wire that comes from the module supposed to have voltage?
my thinking is it just cranksbut no start, when you put power to this wire the should be clicking sound near trottle body if click is heard the leave power on it it should start but if not hot when key is off will cut off with key from battery you have to disconnect the hot wire to shut engin off
for test you can do from battery ,but must be keyed hot if that is problem
Sounds like starter going bad.
Does a 1996 Lumina have a automatic choke and if so where is it located?
No, it is fuel injected. The computer controls the air/fuel mixture at startup.
How can you make a Battery terminal cable that is too large to tightly fit on the terminal?
Pos & neg posts are not the same size on post type. You can buy terminals separately at ato parts store and still salvage the cable itself if need be.
What are the symptoms of water in a gas tank?
The car will act like it is out of gas, sputter and eventually die, if there is enough water in the tank. If there is only a little bit, it will ususally sputter just a little before it evaporates the water. Still, no matter what happens with the water, you will need to replace the fuel filter, which is how the water got in there in the first place.
Check and clean the battery terminals. Although the meter inside your car may read full voltage this does not mean that the starter is getting the full amperage it needs to turn the car over. Clean the terminals, ensuring no corrosion is left, then ensure a good solid contact is made between the terminals and your battery posts. al
so id check that ur statrer is engaging it did it on my land cruiser it would click but not start it was cause my startor wouldn't engage
Why Jeep turns over won't start?
There are way too many answers availalbe here to give you just one. You need three things to make your Jeep run. Fuel - make sure it's getting fuel to the pistons Air - air cleaner clean? Spark - spark plugs doing their job. And.....is it all happening in the proper order. Is the timing of the engine OK. Get all these things working as they should and you'll be on the road again.
Sounds like the Torque Converter Lockup Solenoid is bad. To verify this, disconnect the solenoid and see if it then stops stalling. If so the solenoid needs replacing. You can drive it with it disconnected although your fuel mileage will go down.Where is it located and how do you disconect it ?
Might be a faulty fuel pump.
What is wrong when my engine turns over but won't start won't start?
you might have bad coil, spark plugs, wires or a dead battery ar bad starter? try some different things.
First thing first, Check the basics, Check to see if you have good spark, fuel at the fuel rails when the key is on an air coming in the the motor, Make sure a rat nest or something isint blocking the air from getting into the engine, If its not getting fuel, check to hear your fuel pump an how much pressure you have at your rails, if it doesint have spark then check your coil or timing belt
Sounds like a possible crank and/or cam sensor or ignition coil pack issue. might also be fuel filter/pump issue too.
A turn key project means that when completed the buyer has to do nothing but turn the key and drive away.
93 s10 blazer starts sometimes with rough idle and runs fine on the road so what could it be?
Run a computer diagnostic scan to see what you can find. You'll be able to borrow, rent or buy an OBD code scanner from most auto parts retailers in your area.
If that doesn't show anything, try a compression test. If the compression test is good, just replace the plugs, rotor, cap and wires.
My car was sputtering and then stalled and won't start again?
depend serveral things , you have to tell more of the problem
On top of the steering column, there is a small access cover. Pry that off with a small screwdriver and underneath there is a bypass that you can press to shift the car back to Park.
How to tell if your starter is bad?
I am not a mechanic but have dealt with old cars most of my life. It has been my experience that a starter does not just die right away. It "drags" or does not have that clean, robust spinning sound you associate with a car which starts normally, say within 3 seconds after you turn the key. In the past I have found usually it is the starter bendix or the starter solonoid. From my understanding, the bendix is a gear like device which enables the starter to engage the engine. The solonoid is like a switch that turns on the starting equipment. There are so many things that can go wrong with a car electrical system that I suggest you find a really GOOD starter shop. Too many times even competent mechanics use trial and error and you really need some theoretical understandng of electronics to make a proper diagnosis. Geoff
