When it rains your 1999 dodge van won't start?
If a vehicle won't start when it rains or is very wet, it is a clear sign that the ignition wire insulation is old and tired. As a test, you can spray the wires and distributor with silicone spray or WD40. These drive off the water and the engine should start. If I spray wd40 on how long do I wait before I try to start the vehicle
1991 ford 4.9 got fire and fuel wont start?
Find and remove #1 spark plug. See if it is totally clean and not fouled or oily. If so, remove and clean all plugs. With plugs out turn over engine without pressing gas pedal to clean out cyclinders for 20 seconds. Install #1 spark plug wire on a sparkplug clamped in a battery jumper cable tied to the truck body. Put your finger in the #1 cyl sparkplug hole. Get a cohort to crank the motor over while you watch the spark plug fire at the exact same time the engine compresses and tries to blow your finger off the spark plug hole.
My 01 grand am v6 won't turn over but its cranking what could it be?
If what you are saying is that the starter spins but won't turn the engine, the starter drive (also called bendix) is broken and must be replaced.
Sounds like a loose alternater belt.
do you have fire at the plug? if not the cap has coil in it and needs replaced
1994 Dodge Intrepid 3.3 cranks over but no spark?
I don't know what that problem is but if you find out what the problem is could you email me at odellk@wowway.com and let me know!! I have the same problem with my 1994 3.3l intrepid!
I have a 1993 3.3l intrepid that's doing the exact same thing. I've had the crank sensor changed out, the cam sensor changed, checked all fuses and it's still doing it
1996 Pontiac Firebird That won't turn over with the key at all?
Bad resistor on key?
Bad sensor in ignition lock?
Your 2000 Concorde won't start it turns over but won't fire?
The most common cause of this condition is a failed crankshaft position sensor. If you have a tachometer or a scan tool (not a code reader) check for an RPM reading while cranking. An RPM of 0 while cranking usually indicated a failed sensor. If you crank the engine for 30 seconds and if the crank sensor is bad, it will set a PCM code which you can check for using any OBDII code reader.
If you must replace the crankshaft position sensor, I recommend the following procedure to avid great difficulty that can be caused if you break the sensor off in it's bore:
1) Unplug the electrical connector and move the wire clear of the area.
2) Get a fire extinguisher handy. You won't need it, but safety is important.
3) Remove the bolt from the sensor.
4) Try to very gently twist the sensor. If it twists, remove it and install a new one. Otherwise continue:
5) Use a torch to head the sensor and the metal around it to a high temperature. The sensor should catch fire and produce a small yellow flame. Allow it to continue burning until step 6 is complete.
6) Gently twist the sensor back and forth as you pull the sensor out of its bore. The melted plastic will act as a lubricant.
7) Extinguish any flames.
You should coat the new sensor with silicone dielectric (tune-up) grease before installing it. Always verify that you have adequate ventilation before working with fire.
Where is a frontera starter motor situated?
The starter motor is situated just under the manifold on the left hand side of engine bay. Be aware if you want to remove the starter to check or replace, the manifold, accelerator cable fuel rail and air filter along with top radiator pipes and alternator must be removed prior to actually get to it. It isn't the easiest of jobs it does take a few hours. Tools needed are 17mm 19mm sockets and spanners wd40 spray patience and a good swearbox.Be also aware that the top bolt isn't easy to get to because of the bulkhead gets in the way but is possible to reach from under vehicle with ratchet and extension bar.....................Good luck people
battery is dead starter is out out of gas dont have the key in its not in park
Make sure you aren't leaking coolant into the crankcase. The engine will not start while there is moisture inside the distributor cap. Perhaps it was sprayed when you cleaned the engine, perhaps the car ran through some deep standing water and splashed the distributor... in any case, it must be completely dried out before the engine will start and if there is moisture in the crankcase it will condense to the inside of the distributor cap.
"+" to "+" and " - " to " - "
NEVER the other way around.
Note: It is much safer to connect the last "-" cable to somewhere on the car's bodywork away from the second battery. After the car has been started remove that same cable first. Doing it that way will help to avoid sparks causing explosions of the hydrogen gas which is given off from batteries when they are being charged.
Other answersVERY DANGEROUS!If connected improperly:
either from "+" of Battery A to "-" of Battery B
or
from "-" of Battery A to "+" of Battery B
then that would cause the jumper cables to short-out both batteries - boy would they spark, smoke and burn!
Because of the physical location of the starter in relation to the bell housing of the transmission, check for a short at the battery connect at the starter. Make sure that those connections are completely clear of any part of the bell housing and transmission. If that was the last place you worked, I would suspect that is the place to start looking.
Could be the cable is too light for the load i.e. excessive current draw for the wiring size.
Could be a dead short somewhere in the vehicle.
Check for a battery cable grounded out on the exhaust manifold.
Does it "turn over"? Is it getting fuel/spark
Just replaced the timing belt on a 1993 Geo Storm need help with troubleshooting car won't start?
Check that you got the timing marks right. If you recheck the timing belt work & it's o/k then start with the basics, Is the fuel pump running when you turn thekey? whats the fuel pressure? Is fuel getting to engine? do you have spark?
How do you replace an ignition in a 1995 ford escort without a key?
First remove the steering wheel and the 2 column covers.
Locate the 3 multi-function switch connectors behind the instrument panel and disconnect them.
Remove the screw that fastens the switch to the steering column.
Carefully pry up the tab that holds the switch harness retainer to the bracket on either side. Pull the retainers off the brackets.
Take the multifunction switch off the steering column.
Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
Remove the switch screws and take the switch off.
Installation is the reverse of removal steps.
Is it best to get a new starter instead of getting a new solenoid of a 1998 S10 Chevy?
Typically, when the solenoid fails the starter is right behind. If you know how you could replace the solenoid, put in brushes and bushings and the starter MIGHT be ok if nothing bad has happened to the armature.
With a battery system fully charged what would cause a vehicle not to turn over?
If you hear a clicking sound, replace the starter. If you hear nothing, it could be the ignition switch, or starter. If it cranks slowly, replace the starter.
In addition, a corroded battery terminal, bad cable, or loose ground strap to chassis.
Turn over = attempring to start or actually start?
Check the cable that goes to the starter check the main fuse
Write a clearer Question
No modern vehicle will engage the starter motor unless the neutral switch is engaged. If it isn't turning over at all, this is just one possible reason why. Try moving the gear selector from "P" to "N", if it's an automatic and try it again. If it's a standard transmission, make sure you're pushing the clutch pedal right to the floor and make sure that nothing (floor mat, dead squirrel, junk food packaging, etc.) is getting in the way.

Why does my Car only starts when its hot?
more then likely you really need an oil change with a lighter oil so when it gets cold the oil doesn't get so thick and hard to move.
Where do you find the fuel pump reset on a Mazda MPV 2000?

Your 2002 suburban turns over but will not start what can be the problem?
A 2002 Suburban that turns over but will not start is not getting fuel to the injectors, the ignition system is defective, or the spark plugs are worn out. Performing a full tune-up of the engine will solve most of these issues.
When you start the car it run but when you hit gas pedal it cuts off?
i have had that problem, and it sounds like the fuel filter is clogged, you will need to replace the fuel filter.
Will a bad thermostat cause a car to die and not start back up?
