Possible speed sensor issue. Have it checked for trouble codes to know what to diagnose.

First have the problem that turned the light on repaired. Then use an OBD2 scan tool to reset the light.

I believe it means at least one of your Oxygen (O2) sensors has gone bad. A 1999 Camry has three such sensors (on at least the V6 engine). The car will still run basically fine, but a couple of things might happen: 1) you might notice lower gas mileage and/or engine performance and 2) you could potentially shorten the life of the catalytic converter. Also, if you live in a state that requires a regular smog (emission) check, the car will most likely not pass.

It means the computer has detected a fault with something that effects emmissions. You need to get the computer scanned to determine what needs to be repaired. Most of these type questions would never be asked if driver's would open their owner's manual and read. This type information is contained within the owner's manual. If you do not have one, get one. You can get one at your dealer, or you may find one at a salvage yard, in a glove box. You need the owner's manual for maintenance intervals, and other pertinent information. Why and how these seem to be lost is a mystery to me. Question after question, asked on this site that can be answered by opening this little book. I have never owned a vehicle without having an owner's manual. I also see a lot of questions that can be answered by raising the hood and looking at the placards located there. Spark plug gap is just one. Amazing!

I am having the same issue AFTER replacing the torque converter and switch in the transmission. My check engine light was coming on with the transaxle light and the code read to replace these items BUT the transaxle light is still coming on. I am still trying to get an answer on this!

your question is very vague but usually you can disconnect the battery in your car for a few moments then reconnect this should reset your computer but if light comes back on then you could have a more serious issue, so do not drive it until serviced. please follow safety precautions when playing with the battery!!!!!!

Could be a dirty Throttle Box. This should be cleaned as part of a general tune-up.

You have a thermostat located likely in the radiator at the bottom. It screws in and completes the circuit to turn on the fan when it reaches a certain temperature. I'll bet that is your problem. Simply disconnect, unscrew and screw new one in. If you're not sure what you are looking for, go buy one first. You will lose fluid when you take it out, but not much if you are fast. Your temp gauge works because that sensor is a different one than the one that activates your fans. Of course, you can run straight power to the fans to confirm they work. Hope that helps.

GO TO A AUT ZONE TELL THEM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON THEY WILL COME OUT AND HOOK SOMTHING UP TO IT . THEY WILL GIVE YOU A LIST OF WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM AND ASK THEM TO CLEAR IT, THEY WILL DO ALL THIS FOR FREE- HOPE THIS HELPS- AMBER

It's a warning to indicate that the computer has stored a problem code. You can use a code scanner to find out what's wrong. They are available at most auto parts retailers for a reasonable price, and many such stores allow you to borrow or rent a code scanner.

oxygen sensors are basically emissions usally located on and by ur exaust usually by ur muffler they will stick out u can find them it will be a sensor that sticks out bout an inch an it will have a wire coming off the top find them and find how many you have and start changing them either all or one at a time

Hey I have a 2000 Hyundai accent and had the same problem tried to find the issue but couldn't my mechanic could not find the issue either so would love to kniw aswell it may just be a fault with a few of the computers is what i was told by Hyundai

Unplug the battery and plug in after 5 min. This wil be like unplugging your computer and then restarting.

It will reset itself if you corrected the problem that cause it to come on in the first place. If it does not go out after a few driving cycles, I suggest you stop throwing parts at the problem and take it to a professional for diagnosis and repair.

You need to have the code checked and the cause of it repaired to get the light off.

I'm not sure if it applies to German automobiles as well, but typically in domestic cars if the check engine light is blinking or flashing it means you are doing damage to the catalytic converter. Usually this is caused by a misfire in the engine, which could the the fault of a few things (i.e. bad spark plug, bad plug wire, bad fuel injector, etc.). It is highly recommended that you do NOT drive the vehicle when the check engine light is 'blinking'.

One way that always works is to disconnect the battery for at least ten minutes. If the cause of the check engine light turning on in the first place is not fixed, then the light will come on again pretty quickly after starting the car.

A lot of parts stores, such as Advance or Autozone, will check the codes for free. It is still up to you to diagnose the actual problem.
