The spray starting fluid is nothing more than a highly volitile fuel. The fact that your engine does run while that fuel is applied indicates that your ignition and timing system is working properly. It also demonstrates that when the starting fluid is used up the engine stops, indicating that for some reason, your engine fuel system is NOT functioning properly: FUEL IS NOT GETTING INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. There could be many causes for this. No fuel in the tank, a blocked [clogged] fuel line, the fuel tank shut-off valve is not turned on, the float valve [if your fuel system has one] is stuck in the closed position, the tiny fuel passages inside the carburator, or injection system, are blocked by "varnish" [which results from lack of use, and the fuel evaporating, leaving a residue called varnish], etc. These are but some of the possible causes. Regardless, the entire fuel delivery system needs to be analyzed by someone who fully understands the operation of the system, to determine the cause [s], and once determined, properly repaired.

Hard Set the parking brake, and block the rear tires. Jack up the right front chassis enought to remove the tire and wheel. Put safety jack stands under that area and lower the jack . Remove the plastic inner wheel well covers to gain access to the front of the engine. There you will see the bottom most engine pully (crankshaft dampner)on the serpentine belt system. At three o'clock you will see the crankshaft sensor and it's mounting bolts. The sensor extends into the metal fins on the back side of that pully. If the sensor is busted up you should remove the pully and check for bent fins. There is close clearance between the sensor and the fins and when you install a new one it has to be close and center between the fins - but not too close and the pully fins have to pass thru the sensor gate grooves without touching them. LOL

If you are standing at the front of car, it is on the backside of the lower engine drivers side. The transmission dipstick handle is right above it. Looks like a right angle black connector attached with only one metric bolt. The wires go into a heat sheilded harness up the drivers side of engine into the top plastic cover. This thing is below all those hoses and wires at about elbow distance. A real bear to get to. If you are changing it you have to do it by feel cause once your arm is in you cant see it anymore. If the differential wasnt directly below it would be easy to get from the bottom of car.

You will need to remove the right front tire, remove the access panel to the engine (through the wheel well), remove engine belt, remove harmonic balancer & pulley with a puller. Remove & replace crank sensor, align sensor with an alignment tool, replace balancer with an installer tool.. BE VERY careful with the balancer, the backside of it has a hall effect style blades. bending these blades will junk the balancer.

Your most likely problem is your ignition module...Its a computer on the left side behind the battery....Just follow the hose from your air cleaner it will lead you right to it.
This happened with my lebaron as well, but it turned out to be the oxygen sensor was shorting out.
If this doesn't solve the problem...try replacing the ASD relay. (auto shutdown). We had that problem with ours
