Why will a 1986 Jeep Comanche crank but not spark?
i would say its your coil check it for spark if no spark then check it for power Ah, but what is the reason for no power? This really sounds like the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS), which is notorious for crapping out in these engines. I'm replacing the CPS in my 1988 Jeep Comanche 4.0L tomorrow morning. I have the exact problem noted: I have just replaced the plugs, wires, and distributor (once every ten years!), the thing cranks strongly, and yet I've got no spark. I told my Comanche Brother (also has a 1988) that the Jeep won't start and it feels like a sensor problem ... and he said, "Crankshaft Position Sensor." That's when I remembered the same doggone thing causing me a no-start condition about ten years back. The CPS is about $35 -- I just bought one. When you read up on the CPS, I think you'll find your symptoms noted. Provided that this fixes my no-start condition, I'll be getting another and keeping it handy. Update on the 1988 Comanche that would not start ... it started right up. The funny thing is that I didn't even get to change out the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) yet, because it was too cold for that mess today. But here's the thing: it (the no-start condition) was related to the CPS. Since it was too cold to fool around on the engine block today, I unplugged and replugged the CPS connector a couple of times to see if that would get the truck started -- and it did on the first crank. I read about this trick on-line somewhere, and I'll be darned if it didn't work. That's definitely one to remember! In my truck, the CPS connector is right up on top, just to the driver's side of the line of cylinders, back toward the firewall, and just forward of what looks to be the main wiring harness. Son of a gun.
Where is the crankshaft timing sensor located on the corsa 1200?
its located above the starter motor.
Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 2001 dodge neon?
Haynes repair manual, Dodge Neon 2000 thru 2003. Book #30036 I think the question was where is it located on the car, not which book do I buy to find the location. It is located at the end of the cylinder head. Its the black plastic part with an electrical connector on it.
How do you replace a crankshaft position sensor on a 1983 Ford Crown Victoria?
This was a common problem on my Dad's car. It is located in the front passenger's side of the engine. I believe it is a 7/16 inch bolt. The sensor is held in with a "fork-like" retainer - be careful the retainer is centered on the new sensor. It's a very easy replacement - disconnect the wire (connector is up by intake manifold), remove sensor bolt and retainer, and remove. Installation is reverse of removal.
The problems we have had were heat related - the car was fine when cold but would shut off when warm. One test I used is removing the sensor and hooking it up to an ohmmeter and putting it in a pot of water on the stove. If you have a closed circuit (some resistance) and the resistance goes to infinity when it gets hot, you've found the problem. Also, if the resistance is infinity from the start, you have your problem.

If it's a 2.4L engine its on the backside of the engine block (the side of the firewall) directly under the manifold accessible from under the car.
Where is the camshaft position sensor on a 1992 jeep Cherokee?
Cam Postion Senor in a 92 is located inside the Distributer. Under the rotor. You can see the plug that goes to it on the under side of the Dist housing.
Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am?
What size engine? If the engine is a 3.4 litre, the sensor is located directly under the power steering pump. Power steering pump, must be removed before you can gain access to the camshaft sensor. I also removed the engine mount, to ease removal of power steering pump. Caution!!! (support engine with jack before removing engine mount.)
Where is the crankshaft position sensor on a 1998 dodge ram 1500?
It goes through the bell housing behind the trans dipstick tube behind the passenger side cylinder head.
What is the location of the oxygen sensor bank2 sensor2 on a 2003 dodge ram1500?

A computer diagnostic test will generally tell you if you have a faulty crankshaft position sensor.
Where is the crankshaft positioning censor on a 91 Pontiac grand am?
The crankshaft sensor is behind the Starter. You have to remove the starter to get to it. You may be able to see it from underneath the car. I had to replace one today..It's a pain in the neck but my car is running great..

How do you replace the crankshaft sensor in a 2001 Chevy Suburban?
I stole this from another forum... It's on the top rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. The EGR valve is in the center, the crankshaft position sensor is on the driver's side next to it. The engine oil pressure sensor is on the passenger's side next to the the EGR valve. There's a large wire bundle splitting off to all three of those components. The connector to the CKP sensor has 3 pins, wiring colors are light green, a yellow/black, and a dark blue/white.
You need to raise the vehicle andremove the fuel line bracket from the bellhousing stud, then from obove remove the driver's side ignition coil bolts and reposition the coil to get to the sensor. Disconnect the electrical connector. Use penetrating oil around the sensor and allow it to soak in, then remove the CKP sensor bolt and gently twist the sensor back and forth. When it's free, remove it.
The CPS is located at the 11 o'clock position on the bellhousing looking from underneath the vehicle. If you unplug and then plug in the connector located near the intake manifold and it starts when it wouldn't, plan on replacing it very soon. You will need to jack up the vehicle in the front, support it with real automotive jackstands, and work from underneath. Arrange the best lighting you can, and use 1/4" drive extensions about three feet long, with a universal connector for the socket. Use a magnet, bubble gum, or something to hold the bolts to the socket. If they fall into the bell housing, removing the transmission to get them becomes your next chore. When the bolts are out, remove the CPS, and replace. There is a modification to slot the ends of the bolt holes, removing only what is necessary to slip over the bolts so that they will not need to be removed completely again. Reconnect and start the motor, if that doesn't do it, check all the grounds and the main plug through the firewall.

What are the signs of a bad crank sensor on a 2002 Kia Optima?
I also own a 2002 Kia Optima and just had it diagnosed with a bad crank position sensor.
When the sensor shorts, the engine will not respond to how much gas it's being given, and will sometimes stall out if I am going below 5mph when the short happens. The sensor can short at any speed and the RPMs will suddenly drop, the engine will be unresponsive to gas or lack of it, and then a few seconds later the RPM will jump back up to where it was before the short.
This has been happening erratically for months. Sometimes it will happen two, three times a day and sometimes it will be a month or two where it does not happen. I was told that the problem gets worse with time, and eventually the sensor will go completely out and the car will not start.
Hope this helps! Good luck
