What would cause a 1996 Bick regal to overheat The radiator fan does not turn on?
Check the radiator fans to see that they spin freely and they are not stuck. Assuming this and the electrical wiring is good, there is a thermal switch or sensor and a relay that turns on the radiator fan motors.
A quick check to of the fan motors can be performed by starting the car and engaging the air conditioning. This should turn on the fans.
If not, the relay itself is likely bad. These take a beating for use and heavy current demand. The relay is probably in the fuse box.
If the fans run, then a coolant sensor or switch or its wiring could be at fault.
I have not worked on a 96 Regal but GM vehicles are similar across years in how the cooling system is loop monitored and controlled and one of the loops is not dependent upon the car's computer to operate. The 'dumb' loop has sensors or switches to failsafe in high temperatures, but they all depend on the relay to energize the fans.
Focus your suspicion on this loop.

Where on the timing mark is TDC?
TDC is 0( sometimes just a large line). A 4 cycle engine hits TDC or '0' once every 2 revolutions; So as the engine revolves, ( one revolution )it is at bottom dead center (BDC) then comes around to TDC to start the process over again. I hope this helps you. Mark
Answerthe "0" mark on the timing tab coincides with cylinder #1,the cylinder that is farthest torward the front of the engine. On a Chevy 350 this is on the drivers side.To varify if it is at top dead center or bottom dead center you need to remove #1 spark plug and determine weather the piston is at the top or bottom of the cylinder. One way to do this is to hold your finger over the open spark plug hole while someone turns the engine over slowly and feel for the blast of air to come out as the piston reaches tdc.If you have a distributor you can also determine where #1 plug wire needs to be by removing the distributor cap to see where the contact point of the rotor is pointing when at top dead center.this is #1 in the firing order.(18436572). AmswerLooking at my 350, the number 1 cylinder is on the passenger side front. The original Chevy intake manifold has the firing order cast in front of the carb, and the cylinder numbers cast into the top of the intake channel next to the head.Where is the electronic brake control module for a 1999 Chevy silverado 1500 4wd?
under the drivers seat, just inside the frame. you'll see it on top of the hydraulics
Will a 2000 Ford Windstar windshield fit a 2003 Windstar?
Yes - very very minor cosmetic differences between 1999 and 2003 model years.
What size is the gas tank on a Windstar 95?
A ( 1996 ) Ford Windstar GL either had a 20 gallon tank or the optional 25
gallon tank
Why would a 1992 Toyota Camry overheat after about 10 minutes?
most camry's have electric fans to help cool radiator some are in front some are behind the radiator.with car parked run engine until you feel heat coming out of heater vents.the fan should be on if not the fan or the temp sensor is bad.if the fan dose run then check the coolant to see if it has the correct 50/50 mix.this can be done with a coolant tester that you can get at any auto store.next the bad news if all that checks out you may have a cracked head or leaking head gasket.
Could be needing a wheel balance , but more than likely you have a dry U joint in the drive shaft, if U joints have been greased recently, u need new U joints
Sorry but a dry U joint causing a steering wheel to vibrate, come on!
Wheels being out of balance, Yes~ Possible bad wheel bearing is another reason as is a bad tire road and so on... Have it checked out by a shop soon! Good luck.
How do you replace a lower ball joint on a 1999 Ford F-150 4x4?
Please follow this link: It is a very good explanation with pictures http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/idx/10/282/article/How_To_Replace_19972003_F150_Ball_Joints.html
Why would the engine on a 1988 Buick LeSabre have a miss and then after it warms up start stalling?
An engine is just like a human in many ways. In this example, the engine is missing and it could be many different things that cause this. Not unlike a human that is coughing, in which case, it could be many things that are causing the cough, all the way from an irritated throat to lung cancer. But, it's usually one of a few most common problems. For the I/C gas engine I would start simple and go from there. Things to ask yourself are: How many miles on the engine? How many miles on the spark plugs? How many miles on the spark plug wires? Are any of the spark plug wires touching the exhaust header? Etc.... etc... I would start by removing and inspecting the spark plugs and the spark plug wires and look for anything obvious. Is one spark plug "Wet" and all the others "Dry" (or drier). If one plug is wetter than the others it may be that that plug is misfiring. If that is the case it could be the plug wire or the coil. If there is alot of black smoke coming from the exhaust it may also indicate a leaking fuel injector, if there is no black smoke it may mean a fuel injector is not being energized due to wiring problems or computer problems. If the engine has very high mileage it may have a burned exhaust valve, especially if there is a leak in the exhaust header at that valve location. Just as an FYI, always make sure that the fuel filter has been replaced in the last 10-12 thousand miles. I hope this helps, if not let us know :-) TommyTrouble
How do you replace motor mounts on a 1995 wimdstar gl?
frist you need to jack up the car puting it on jack stands and blocking the rear wheels.then you would use a jack and a board to raise the motor. Before you go any farther, you need to support the motor from above. there is a 3 legged stand that can be bought at your parts store. It rest on the fenders and front of the car. use chains to keep the motor secured from above. when this is done, take the mounts loose and replace. brewski I would add get the fan motors off, and THEN reach the top nut in the motor mount. The top nut may spin if mount is separated, use vise grips. Long extension with a wobbly and a thin wall socket, 1/2" impact to remove.
What does ABS light mean on 2000 Ford Winstar?
If the ABS light is lit up a problem with the Anti-lock Brake System has been
detected . As long as the " BRAKE " light is not lit up in your dash , you still
have " normal " brakes
==========================================================
In my case the ABS light came on and stayed on . The first ABS fuse that I
checked was not installed all the way . I touched the fuse with my finger , heard
a click , and the ABS light went out ( just lucky I guess , but still suspicious of
how that could have happened )
We just had the same problem on a 90 Aerostar. Proved sending unit and guage were ok. There is a small ciruit board attached to the instrument cluster (it is an amplifier for the gas guage) with a single Allen screw holding it to the instrument cluster. Where the four contacts were soldered to the little board you could see cracks in the solder. Resoldered the contacts and the guage works perfect. hope this helps?
A partially blocked catalytic converter might cause the engine to run poor, but it wouldn't keep it from starting. Always go back to the basics. Fuel, ignition and compression. Starting fluid is a good tool to have around when an engine won't start. If the engine runs when starting fluid is being sprayed into the air intake then dies when you stop spraying, you have a fuel delivery problem. If the engine WON'T start when you are spraying starting fluid, it's probably ignition or something internal.
What would cause your car to overheat?
I'm not a mechanic / technician but :
- low engine coolant
- engine thermostat stuck closed
- water pump not circulating
- engine cooling fan not working properly
- restricted radiator
Springs generally do not need to be replaced unless they are broken, Now on ford taures's the rear springs always break. But your car I would suggest you reuse them unless ofcourse they are broken this way you can save yourself about $2-3 hundred dollars.
1999 ford 3.8 recent tuneup still runs rough what can it be?
Read through the "Related Question" that discusses a common problem with the Windstars and rough idle - check engine codes P0171 & P0174.
That might be part of your problem too...
What causes a Ford Windstar to all of a sudden blow cold air instead of warm?
If you have the heater on and the fan is blowing warm or hot air and then changes to cold, you possibly have air in the circulation lines from the radiator to the heater core. As the water pumps pumps the water through then engine and then heats it up it goes to your heater core under your dash to provide you with heat. If there are air gaps in the system, the water pump will push the water through and then the air trapped and you will end up with cold or cool air. I suggest you check your antifreeze level WHEN IT'S COLD and see if you are low. If so, add antifreeze and run the engine at idle to get the antifreeze to circulate through the system leaving the radiator cap off while you are doing this. Hopefully as the water gets circulated around the air will come to the top of the radiaotr and escape, add more antifreeze and top off your radiator. Any excess fluid should go to your overflow tank. Some engines requires you open certain passages to release the trapped air but you could try this first
See "Related Questions" below for more ideas on what could cause this problem

The electronic control module or unit on a 2003 Mini Cooper is located under the hood. It is on the rear of the intake manifold.
How do you clear up PLASTIC smoked headlight lenses?

How do you repair a power sunroof that leaks on a 1988 Olds Cutlass before you seal it up?
Sunroofs are very hard to get sealed and I leave it to an auto trim shop to do. They do it every day and know the tricks. Good luck.
What is wrong if air only blows out of the defrost vents?
Under the hood... There is a small "red" vaccuum tube from the firewall to the bottom of a canister on the passenger side and to a "t-tap" on the block. Mine got melted after a tune-up and I had to cut a small section out and replace it. A friend of mine had his disconnected after servicing at the dealer.
Answervacuum not reaching vacuum direction selector (you might think it is a switch) ( next to your ac on off control)but in actuality it changes the direction that the vacuum flows (draws) if no vacuum reachs selector, vacuum motor will stay in defrost position. I found my problem to be vacuum line disconnected under dash.
Is it normal for the North Star engine to use a quart of oil in under 2000 miles?
That answer is incorrect! A northstar engine WILL burn about a quart of oil per 2-3k miles. Why? Because the engine has rings/pistons from an engine designed for racing (Much higher speeds and temps) The normal wear and tear you put on the engine doesn't even come close to the design specs. Therefore, the rings/pistons have a LOT of room. At least a couple thousandths of an inch more. (I used to work on newer Caddies) you CAN if you want get a new ring job, but as long as you stay on top of it and its not smoking... No. A properly maintained engine should not use oil at anywhere near that rate.
96 Windstar speedometer cable floats between 90km and up what does this mean?
It means that you vehicle speed sensor on the transmission is bad and needs replaced. The speedometer is controled by the computer even though it is a needle and not digital readout. The odometer however is controled by a cable (engineers sheesh). The sensor is located on the top of the transmission back by the firewall good luck getting in there the manual says to remove the exaust manafold.
