The black boxes on top of either side of the engine are the "coil over" plugs. Unplug the harness going to it, Remove two screws per coil over, and carefully pull straight out. Then you can access the plugs with a 5/8" spark plug socket and extension. On 5.7 and 6.1 engines there is 2 plugs per cylinder.

Just reverse process to install and hand tighten plugs then torque wrench to 11-15ft lbs.

A wiring diagram will just show you where they are in the wiring circuit so it would be best if you got a FACTORY shop manual from E-bay or MOTORLIT.COM. It will show a picture of them and describe how each works.

There a a few different ways to tell when a sensor is bad. One way on some sensors, such as temp sensors (or thermistors) is to measure resistance at difference temps to confirm that it is reading correctly, you would have to have the known values for the sensor to compare it to though. Otherwise, you would need diagnostic tools to monitor the sensors while the vehicle is running to know if they are out of range.

Disconnect one of the 02 sensors and read the newly generated code. Then reconnect it and erase the code. Read codes again the new Bad 02 sensor code should disappear. Hence the code that followed your procedure will be for bank 1 or 2. You know which sensor you just disconnected and the new code has then identified what bank it resides in so then you will know which bank is which.

You will get a "check engine" light. On 1996 and newer cars there is a plug near the drivers seat you can plug a cheap device into and it will tell you what "codes" the computer is giving. Google "car chip" Very interesting gizmo

If the cat is way far gone the engine will run poorly. Stalling, sputtering, hard starts, not start at all, backfire. You may actually not even get a code other than misfire or knock sensor which are symptomatic not fundamental to the problem.

If a cat has failed it needs replaced. There is no repairing a cat.

The spped sensor is located on the top of the rear axle housing. It,s on the top front of the engine, 1 pm position of round housing, between fuel filter and alternator of my 1994 E-350 with 7.3 L diesel engine.

You have spent quite a bit of money and still have the problem. Obviously the converter and the O2 sensor did not need replacing. Take the car to a professional who actually knows what they are doing, and stop throwing parts at the problem.

The upstream o/2 sensor is located in the exhaust system between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter. Some vehicles will have 2 upstream sensors (i.e. 1999 Chevy astro 4.3l engine has sensor for left exhaust manifold and another for right exhaust manifold). I am trying to find out for sure if you have to replace both when one goes bad. Bosch says both must be replaced!!!???

Oh yeah it(they)are easy enough to replace if you can see it (them).

These sensors are not repairable, just replaceable.

There is no such thing as an "odometer sensor." There is a vehicle speed sensor that is located on the output shaft housing of the transmission. That sends info to the speedometer. From there, the speedometer and the odometer are both operated internally, so if your speedo is working, but the odometer isn't, you have a problem inside the speedo head assembly.

Sensor 1 is screwed into the front of the catalytic converter.

Sensor 2 is screwed into the pipe after the catalytic converter.

There are 2 sensors on the upstream manifold before catalytic converter, left and right (make sure you get the one you need, left and right are different), the other two are located underneath your truck after the converter, but is usually the upstream sensors that needs to be replaced the most, like when you get an OBD code "bank1 or bank2"

From 91 to 93, the vr4 and stealth rt/tt have 2 total

From 94 to 99, they have a total of four (4).

Two (2) installed on the J-pipe before the pre-cats.

Two (2) installed on the Down-pipe after the pre-cats.

The ECU only looks at the first two (before pre-cats) for determining how much fuel to add/remove.

For emissions, all four (4) need to be up and running or you will fail smog.

Not legally. If you do so, the engine will not run as well and will get lower mileage.

There are (2) oxygen sensors on the 2001 Dodge caravan (in this case Sport / SE edition) One is accesable under the hood the other is down in the exaust array past the catalytic converter. If your error message is showing that your heating element is out in the O2 sensor... its the front sensor.

if you cant afford to fix right away and you dont need your (location and weather permitting) heat / defrost. just bypass the heater core. Theres no real risk of fire,but possible burns to the passenger or driver if it does decide to burst.plus its smelly and can ruin the carpet and rust the floor boards over a period of time. You can bypass the hoses at the fire wall (under the hood) by mating them together.

there are 3 O2 sensors on the 4.3 Vortec V6 Blazer ( I have a 99 as well) 1 is on each exhaust downpipe forward of the catalytic converter, the 3rd is just aft of the converter.

A Nissan Frontier may be overheating because the radiator is cracked. A thermostat failure can also cause it to overheat.
