Your car is overheating when idle at stop lights or when idle in your driveway also when you are idle in the driveway and press on the accelerator it makes a water gurgling sound what could cause this?

The overheating could be a problem with your cooling fan- The water gurgling, I'm not sure aboout, I suggest you check all you fluid levels edit by SkydiveSonic: Sounds like you may have a lot of air in the cooling system. Try pouring more coolant into the radiator (when the engine is cold!!), or better still perform a complete flush. Buy a Haynes manual for how to do this. It's quite easy to do.

How do you replace the radiator on a 2000 Infiniti I30?

It's very simple. Take out the old one and put in the new one. Just make sure you plug up the antifreeze hoses and buy more antifreeze for the new radiator.

Do you need to flush the radiator on a 1991 Mercury Sable to change the thermostat?

No, you do not necessarily have to but it is a good idea. Have the entire system flushed. Replace the thermostat, bleed the system. I would also replace all coolant hoses at this time unless you have done so before. Your car is 14 years old and although they may look OK, it is just smart to replace now before you are stranded by a hose bursting. Be sure and replace the heater hoses also. Refill the system with a 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze and distilled water.

Why would radiator fluid be leaking out of the radiator system vent around the bolt on a 1993 Ford Thunderbird 3.8L?

is the leak at the top of the radiator?if it leaks around a bolt then the radiator is probably cracked. alot of people mistake the drain as a bolt wich is located towards the bottom of the facing the engine.if this is the case then you probably have a drain that loosened up and all you do is tighten it back down.

Where is the coolant drain plug for a 2001 Saturn L-200?

Standing in front of the car its at the lower lefthand corner of the radiator. Its looks like a plastic wing nut. It is actually a threaded plug on the side of the rad tank facing out towards the fender. That drains the rad. To drain the engine there is a plug above the right drive axle(pass side) on the bottom of the water pump 13mm bolt......

Where is the radiator drain on a 1986-1995 Taurus - Sable?

Answer

Should be on the bottom of the radiator. If you see none, then just remove the lower radiator hose.

Answer

The drain petcock should be on bottom, drivers-side of the radiator. It'll take a while to drain it through the petcock. Be sure to open the radiator cap to allow air into the system to help it go faster.

Although it's likely to be messy as heck, I usually take a large drainpan and pop the lower radiator hose off.

Please keep in mind, most if not all radiator petcocks are a left hand thread
there is a drain on lower left side of radiator. unscrew and drain.

After finding the coolant chamber empty how do you make sure you refill it and the radiator properly?

With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap. If the radaitor is also low, I recommend perfoming a cooling system pressure test to locate the leak. Repair all leaks { Engine coolant is extremely toxic, contains heavy metals, it's sweet odor and taste attract animals and it is fatal}. First completely fill the radiator, install the pressure cap and then fill the coolant recovery tank to the full cold mark. You should use the proper type and mixture of coolant. Look for a label under the hood or refer to the operators manual for coolant type. You can purchase premixed coolant, usually a 50/50 mixture of coolant to water.

I would try flushing the radiator. Buildup inside could be causing your problem. My Oldsmobile ran really warm in summer if I wasnt moving, red light to red light in the city, I flushed it and it runs normal now.

How do you fix triumph acclaim radiator?

Before you read this, keep ion mind that I know nothing about triumphs other than that they're usually old cars that usually have metal radiators. Hopefully someone else will provide a better answer soon.

1-Drain the radiator.

2-Remove it from the vehicle.

3-Drain it again.

4-Soak it in a mild acid solution, such as 20% vinegar, 80% water for about an hour to remove deposits.

5-Drain and rinse inside and out with water, then dry.

6-If there is a leaky area, apply flux to that area

then heat with a brazing torch (or cutting torch with a cool wide flame). Apply solder to the area. Feed the solder in quickly, you'll need quite a bit.

Heavy gauge solid core solder is good. If using lead based solder, use appropriate health and safety precautions. Lead is poisonous. Seal off openings and dunk in a tank of water.

7-Reinstall the radiator, leak check, and fill.

DEPENDING ON HOW DECAYED IT IS ,SOAKING IT IN AN ACID SOLUTION WILL LET YOU KNOW QUICKLY,THIS WILL CREATE MORE LEAKS ,I WOULD SUGGEST TAKING IT TO A RADIATOR SHOP,WHERE THEY USE THE APPROPRIATE ACID SOLUTION,AND CAN RUN A PRESSURE TEST TO REASSURE NO MORE LEAKS.THE ACID WILL TELL ALL ,IF NOT TO BAD THEN BRAZING,FLUX REPAIR.

Where is the drain plug on a 2002 Monte Carlo?

I guess you are looking for the oil drain plug. It is a bolt that is underneath the car between the front wheels. The oil resovoir is, I think, made out of aluminum that is why it is silver in clor as opposed to the rest of the under carriage which is dark. Have your pan ready because the oil will come out fast, try to hold onto the drain plug while you are draining, it's a real pain to dig through the old oil to look for your plug.

Does the radiator fan not kick on a lot you have been working on your radiator and your car hasn't overheated but you never see the fan come on?

Depends on how long the car was running. Let the car run for an hour at idle and if it never comes on, I would check the fan. It should come on at sometime. Check the relay..............I just had this problem on my '89 Beretta. DoratheExplorer
