What should a 4cylinder 1.6Litre 2000 tracker rpm be at a 65mph?
I forget what it's called off hand but if you look on the drivers side of your gear shifter you'll see a little button, if your engine seems to be racing too high start the car then push that button ( I believe it's called an over drive button) if it's on the wrong setting a O/D light shows up in the bottom right of the instrument panel and the engine races way to high. Very easy to hit by accident when putting the car into a different gear. You want that O/D light to be off.
You should make sure that the plug that goes to the airflow meter (between the air filter box and throttle body) is properly installed. It sounds like this has been left unplugged because after the initial operation of the fuel pump (that happens when you turn the key to "start") there is a switch in the airflow meter that closes and allows current to continue to flow to the fuel pump as long as there is air passing through it(i.e. the engine is running). If this does not happen the exact symptom you describe will be the result. PLUG IT BACK IN! This is a copy of my answer from the "What would cause a 4Runner to start cold but not when warmed up?" question in the 4Runner section: It could be a crack or hole in the air intake hose. Look in between the MAF and the throttle body. When there is a tear in the hose, the MAF gets all out of whack and will start when the motor is cold, but will die when it gets warm. Another symptom is if the motor is warm and you try to start it, it will start fine, but will not idle and will die very quickly. If you do find a tear or hole, all it takes to repair it is some electrical tape to seal the hole.
How do you hook up your trailer lights to your 91 4runner?
I wanted a clean installation without any wires hanging down by the rear bumper.
To achieve that I removed the drivers side rear tail light and tapped into the lighting system in the tail light assembly cavity. Then I drilled a hole through that compartment
(one on either side of cargo space in rear of 4 runner) that is used to store car jack parts and whatever else you want to store. I then fed the new trailer light wires (3') through that hole and sealed the hole with silicone.
Then I attached the trailer 4 prong plug in to the newly installed 3 foot long wires,
and wrapped all the wires in red plastic tape, coiled it up, put it into the side compartment and reattached the compartment door.
When needed I drop the rear door, open the side compartment and pull out the wire.
Then I feed it between the rear fold down door and the bumper, paying out the right length of wire to reach the trailer receptor, then close the rear door. There is a rubber moulding around the rear door that compresses around the wiring holding it in place
and preventing it from being crushed.
When trailering is completed, open rear door, pull wire back into vehicle, roll it up and store it in the side compartment. This works wonderfully well for me and I never have that ugly wire flapping in the breeze and deteriorating in the elements. Good luck, Dan.

First thought is low air pressure in the tire. Second is an alignment problem or a brake that is locking up.

You have a bad sending unit. You have to pull the gas tank to replace it.
(, no you don't. There is an access panel under the passenger side rear seat directly over the top of the gas tank.
How do you replace 2006 VW headlight?
Most new cars nowadays... (I sound like an old timer!)
There is a plastic ring that fits around the base of the bulbholder that you can twist loose, then pull the bulb holder out of the headlight lens assembly. So just reach around to the back of the headlight and find where those wires go in, feel for that ring that has tabs sticking out for your fingers to push against. Turn it counter clockwise to loosen it. Once it's loose, pull firmly and you will have the bulb in your hand, still attached to the wires. The connector has a little snap lock thing (common to most auto electrical connectors). Go buy they bulb first and you'll see what I mean, ask the guy behind the counter at your local parts house which bulb to get. Your parts pro might even be able to show you how to change it!
Once the knock sensor is set on the computer tells the fuel injectors to only go to about 60 percent. Or half depending on who you talk to. Check cables and connections first. If these are OK then get another sensor from a wrecking yard and connect it without removing the old one. Then tie it down tight to the intake manifold. Run the engine again and see if the issue goes away. Then decide if you are going to get in the engine and replace the sensor.
What does the Ect Power button on the 97' 4-runner do or mean?
ECT stands for Electronically Controlled Transmission. Basically the transmission uses information gathered from the engine and the loads on the transmission and then sets the shift speed on the transmission.

What does the switch that says pwr ect and norm mean on a Lexus ls400?
It is actually to "improve" the shifts of the automatic transmission. I can tell a difference when I do this but it does use more gas and I don't like that. It is not really a sporty car so I have a sports car to drive if I want firmer shifts.

How do you know if fuses are bad?
Sometimes something goes wrong with an electrical part, and it starts to draw too much electricity. When this happens, the circuit is protected by a fuse. The fuse is the weak link in the circuit, so when a problem occurs, the fuse blows, and the electricity stops flowing. This is a safety feature to protect the wiring and the rest of the car from catching fire. Many mechanics will tell you that all you have to do to check a fuse is to look at it. . I have seen fuses that visually looked perfectly OK, but were, in fact, blown. The only sure way to tell if a fuse is good is with a test light or an ohmmeter.
