Car Stalling Problems

Look for an access panel above the fuel pump. If there is none you must remove the fuel tank in order to gain access to the pump.

Your entire automobile electrical system is grounded to the frame of the vehicle. A loose or corroded ground wire can cause the dash lights to Flickr and the car to stall out.

if all faults removed from engine the light should go out by itself but if not disconnect battery and wait 10 mins thenn will be out unless fault still in system

Typically a problem with the ignition timing. Possibly a bad rotor or distributor cap.

Yes. Just as a raw potato plugging up a exhaust pipe can cause a car not to start.

Locate the O2 sensor, it is the spark plug shaped thing near the top of the Exhaust manifold. Unplug the old wire from the harness, find the correct size wrench (probably a 13/16") Remove the old one. Find some O2 sensor approved RTV sealant or thread locker, apply it to the new threads. Screw in the new one and tighten it up. Plug in the new wire to the harness and you are ready to roll.

Unplug the wire harness, snip off the wires at the old sensor, use a 7/8" box end wrench over the old sensor to break a stubborn sensor loose (CCW), (new sensor has "Never Seize" already applied to threads) install new sensor using a 7/8" open end wrench, tighten (CW) as you would a spark plug (no need to over tighten), plug wire harness back together, done.

also check and see if you are getting spark. it may be bad coil,or solonoid. good luck ignition module on the distributer

THAT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD VACUUM LEAK. IT SHOULDN'T COST MUCH TO FIX. IT MAY BE JUST A "HOSE" REPLACEMENT.

Mine doesn't (actually I have an '04) but if yours does you should consider it a potentially very dangerous condition and have it checked out by a trusted mechanic or your Toyota dealer immediately. Any problem with the engine control system or its sensors should be throwing a code (your 'check engine light will be on) which you can easily read. Many auto supply stores will loan you an OBD II code reader that simply plugs in under your dash (to the right of the steering column) and tells you exactly what the problem is. Cheers

It depends on two factors;

Wether you are stopped or wether you are already moving.

To go uphill you need the gear with the most torque, thus first gear.

If you are already moving and the car gradually loses torque ( slowing down ) Downshift a gear until the car picks up speed. You can also kkep an eye on the rev. meter. The lower the rpm the more chances you have of losing torque and slowing down. Be especially carefull trying to start uphill from a complete stop as the car will start going downhill as you lift your foot off the brake. Timing is essential. If you are

scared try pulling the e-brake as you lift your foot off the brake pedal and gently release it as your foot presses on the gas pedal. Practice makes perfect. Drive safely

I had the same problem. It would stall out after coasting down a hill. Cleaned the throttle body about six months ago. Has not stalled since then.

you have a few opptions first thing did you add or remove any tranny fluid? i have a 2001 Pontiac grand am 6 cyl. 3.4 engine. it has no dip stick to check fluid the theory you shouldn't have add unless there is a leak.but in my case my whole tranny pan was empty no spills no indacation of a leak.except that when in 3rd and pressing the gas it didnt seem to want to go anywhere or the rpms would reach around 3000 but once i reached 4th it would drop down to 1500 and rides smooth. heres some things you could do if you don't have a dip stick to check tran fluid then just unscrew a corner of the tran pan and see if you do in fact have fluid even if you do i would just empty the whole thing clean off the magnet on the inside of tran cover change tranny filter.they say add 9 to 10 us quarts that's way wrong its 7 us qrts trust me i listen and addsd 9 1/2 and my car ran worst so i had to redo everything and i added 7 us quarts and my car is driving pretty good even though i ran the car with no tran fluid for almost a month.it stills runs a little funny when i first start it up in the morning.if that doesnt work for you then your vacum seal may be blowen and it is not getting enough pressure that could be why your rpms are going so high and taking a bit longer to change gears.but make sure you have enough fluid DO NOT OVER FILL LIKE I DID but if you add the right amount you will see the difference i did. iam not a macanic or English teacher iam just a person trying to save a buck. i learned threw trail and error but i got my car running and running good so i hope i can also save you a buck to

you need to replace the idle regulator and re initaiise it. idle regulator needs to be replaced and then reinitalised via a suitable diagnostic tool.

Idle control solonoid. the vacuum line has probably blown a hose. most likely just needs to be re-connected. try a small nylon zip-tie if it wont stay by itself.

Throttle position sensor. With the AC turned on, it causes a greater load on the engine, and a slightly decreased idle speed. The throttle position sensor would detect this immediately and raise your idle to where it would normally be if the AC wasn't running.

it most likely is an oxygen sensor

the air fuel ratio is computer controlled dont think there is a way to change it the computer adjust the air/fuel based on sensors and theyre readings. if its not running right its prolly a sensor issue possibly the oxygen sensor

Either the vent cap is no longer venting, or the reservoir is overserviced. Just a thought.

unplug the wire to mass airliw sensor and then try to startvit if it starts and stays on it needs to ne replaced it will idle a little high disconected but it will not hurt anything at all. It Is located on the throttle body it is a flat black square with three screws in it and the wire plugs into the front. If you need to see a picture go to autozone.com type in mass air flow sensor and then look for the same part on your engine it runs about $215.00 for a new one Good Luck

The fuel pump relay is located on the right of the fuse panel. The dashboard has to be removed before the fuel pump relay is seen.

I had a 1994 mercury villager I was having the same problem it shutting down when the engine got warm. The distributor was the problem . After I changed it I never had another problem with it shutting down anymore. Good luck
