[The easiest way I have found is to turn the ignition on and off three times (on, off, on, off, on). When you do this, the check engine light will flash the trouble code (ie. blink-blink-blink..pause..blink-blink = 32). If you have a repair manual, the codes should be listed in there. I have done this with every car I've owned it's way cheaper than spending the money on a scan tool that will tell you the same thing.]

What does the check engine light on 2000 Acura RL mean?
The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle. Generally, the problem is in the emissions or something that is affecting the effectiveness of the emissions, but other causes can trigger the light to come on, too. To determine the cause, the vehicle will need to be taken to AutoZone or a shop that has an OBD2 scanner, or for 1995 and earlier models, an OBD1 scanner, While a scanner will not give you the magic answer, it will give you a code that narrows down the problem area.
How do you reset the check engine light on a 2002 Acura 3.2 TL S Type?
The light is on because the ECU had detected a problem with the emissions system. Once you have the problem fixed the light will go off. Have the ECU scanned and this will tell you the trouble code that has been set. This code will tell you what part is being effected, but not necessarily the defective part. Unless you are knowledgable you should seek professional help.
After warmup, engine RPM should never fall below 2.0 bars. Check if oil pressure decreases at the same time engine temperature increases. Engine overheating will cause any oil to get thinner and lose viscosity. This results in lowered oil pressure even when the oil LEVEL is normal. I that is the case, check for cause of overheating. older and/or abused engines may overheat because of power loss due to poor compression and/or other reasons.
