How do you replace the power window motor on a 1999 Pontiac Firebird?
i've replaced both window motors on my 1999 Trans am. cheap GM quality there. order yourself a new one (or two...the other will go, trust me) on-line for about $30 - $40 each. then go here to see the step-by-step. http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor18.html you'll be working blind most of the time due to the door's contruction and the way the motor hides inside, but with a little effort, you can do it. the first one took me 45 minutes to replace, the other only took about 25 once i got the hang of it.
How do you replace a power window motor on a 1991 Pontiac Firebird?
1. remove door panel trim. The regulator is riveted to the power window motor, with 3 large rivets. Three other large rivets atatch this whole assy to the inside of the door. It is important to drill out the rivets holding the regulator /and motor to the door, and leaving the motor attached to the regulator, because the regulator has a heavy spring that will be released if the rivets are removed. To separate the regulator and motor you need to drill a hole in the regulator arm, and place a nut and bolt through the hole, at a point that will keep the spring compressed once the motor is removed. Now that the regulator is secure, the rivets on the motor can be drilled out, and motor separated. The new motor needs to be bolted onto the regulator, or riveted. The factory rivets are large, and it is doubtfull you will find such large rivets, or a rivet gun for that purpose, so stick with bolts and nuts. reinstall the complete assy, and again bolt in the whole assy inside the door. bolts and nuts are a real pain in the butt to use in such a confined space, but again rivets of such a large size are hard to find, along with a real large rivet gun. I reccommend using nylon locking nuts so they will not come loose after a certain amount of time and vibration. A set of rubber door stops is also usefull in holding the window glass in the up position while work is being done.
You will find a rivet gun that size at Habor Freight cheap china made but will do the trick.
How do you replace the driver's window motor in a 93 Z24 Cavalier?
About six hours of man hours, breaking and buying new plastic clips, cuts and scraps. really fleible and tiny hands, a drill because you have to drill out about six rivets. and then agonizing pain of alinging up a new motor while trying to screw in new nuts and bolts. they designed it to make it one of hardest replacements of all time so make sure you put a brand new spanking motor in because you dont ever want to have to deal with it again
What is wrong when the power window goes down but won't come back up Is it the fuse?
Try a new switch or just clean the contacts on it
I can't say for sure about the 1996 model, but the 1994 Cutlass has a power window relay between the switch and the motor only on the front driver's side window. The relay powers the window all the way up or down (easing the driver's work load) if the switch is pushed in a certain way. The relay is located up under the dash and is very hard to reach on the 1994 model. Again, I can't say where it is located on the 1996 model.

How do you repair a power window for a 1990 Bronco II if the motor is ok?
If the motor is okay, you needn't replace the entire motor. You only need to get the gear kit. I just learned this and it was very easy. You must remove the motor after removing your interior door panel. Some of the screws that hold the motor in are difficult to get to, however, and you may need to exercise some patience here. Better yet, if you have a hole saw, you can make a hole over where you need to access one or two of the existing screws holding the motor in place. Once you have the motor out, you only need to take the gear cover off, remove the old one (mine were pretty much wasted from heat, age, etc. Next, clean out all the old particles of the old nylon gear and replace it with the new one and put in new grease. (supplied with new gear kit) New gear kits are around 30 bucks and the entire motor is more than double that, so this is a good fix!
How do you replace the front passenger window motor on a '97 Buick Skylark?
if it's anything like a 92 skylark you have to get the window down far enough (if the motor is dead you can usually turn it manually) to get to the two bolts that hold the window on. Remove the bolts and push the window up. It may have to be held there with some strong tape. if you see bolts holding the motor in then great! remove the motor and the actuator in one piece. If there are rivets then you need to drill out these rivets with a drill not much bigger than the inside part of the rivet.( don't worry the new motor will come with bolts). very carefully switch out the motors on the actuator making sure to have it in the same position. Also, the motor might be riveted to the actuator so the same thing applies to this as well.then replace the motor and actuator then reattach window. on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the hardest i would rate this a six.

How do you replace a power window motor on a 93 Saturn SC2?
Replacement of the window motor on an SC2 (or SC1) is probably the most difficult and protracted of any car ever built. If you succeed on this model, you will be qualified to do the same job on any car ever built on this planet. It just takes guts and willpower. First you take off the inside door handle (and lock switch if you have electric locks). Removing the inside handle requires sliding the assembly forward 3/16 inch then removing the plastic retainers on the actuating rods with a flat screwdriver and lifting the rods upwards with needle-nose pliers. Then rear view mirror trim is taken off, then the interior trim panel comes off because this has to come off to drill off three rivers holding the window regulator (the up/down mechanism) to the door. Remove the mirror because it covers outer window seal, that has to come off in order to remove the outer (plastic) door panel. On the outer handle, press in two plastic mandrels and prize out two plastic rivets at each end of the door handle. Then prize the handle off the plastic attachment bar. The outer door panel is held on with torx bolts. If the window motor has failed in the down position, and the motor gearbox is still sound, you will not be able to raise the window to get at the motor. Removing the glass from the lower slider rail requires a very special tool comprising four pins to turn the two disc nuts that hold the glass to the slider. Without the tool, you have to drill out the threads of the disc nuts and replace the threaded portion with 10-32 bolts or equivalent. The glass slides out and up easily and needs the forward edge tilted down to get it out of the door. (At this stage of the saga, check the motor connector pins for voltage in case it is not the motor after all that has failed.) Grind off the mandrels of the four pop rivets holding the regulator to the inside of the door. Punch out the remains and drill out with a drill. Having someone on the other size to stop the rivets spinning will save a lot of time. Keep fingers out of the way of the mechanism if the window mechanism is down as the counterbalance spring is pre-loaded when the mechanism is down. With the motor and regulator on the floor or on a bench, drill out the three motor attach rivets with a or next size bigger drill bit. The motor I bought at Main Auto Parts for $60 came with three long bolts to attach the motor back on the regulator and four short bolts to attach the regulator to the door. It is easiest (least pre-load on the counterbalance spring) to install the motor on the regulator with the window lower slider in the up position. Note that the long, flat-head bolt needs to go adjacent to the regulator gear sector (using one of the other dome-head bolts will foul the gear teeth). Flat-head or countersunk bolts are best to secure the glass to the slider with the bolt head outer most otherwise the bolt tails will foul the door structure when the window is up. Check the window up and down several times before putting the panels back on the door.

How do you remove-replace the window motor for a 1995 240sx?
Window motor 1995 240sx Nissan.
Had trouble with my drivers side window motor 1995 Nissan 240 sx. Window button broke inside and constantly sent signal to amplifier (a clicking sound could be heard) and eventually burned out the window motor. You'll need a Phillips screwdriver, ratchet set, a very small flat end screwdriver to pry plugs apart a window chock or two and some plastic bags for screws, nuts and bolts and a marker to label bags as to where screws nut and bolts came from.Instructions on how to remove motor: Remove the screw vanity cover inside door handle well, unscrew. Remove door panel plug on top rear of panel. Unscrew three screws bottom of door panel. Unscrew door handle trim (slightly lift door handle for access. Remove door handle trim slowly or it will break. Remove button assembly and hand pull well by lifting up and taping non button side of well high (a metal clip holds the button assembly side in place.) Disconnect button assembly switch plug. Remove handle well and switch assembly. Remove door panel by prying away from front and back of door and then lifting up. Carefully store door panel (it fits in the back seat.) Remove speaker enclosure with speaker attached and disconnect speaker plug (4 screws hold white speaker enclosure to door.) Alternately you can hang speaker enclosure to door with piece of hanger. Depending on where the window is positioned there is one nut on each side of the bottom of window which attaches window to steel rail. There is an access hole for the front most window nut by the motor area. Use a rubber window chock or rubber door stop to keep window from falling when disconnecting window. Disconnect two screws on door which holds regulator slide bar. Remove 4 bolts which hold window motor assembly to door. Disconnect motor plug from line leading from the amplifier (white rectangular box on door.)Motor and regulator will slide through the cutout on the bottom left side of door. The motor is expensive so if you can find one on e-bay you might save a great deal of money. Motor from dealer $300, button assembly $250 amplifier $75. Retrace steps for reassembly. I had to repeat the assembly process a couple of times until I determined that my problem was both a broken window button and a bad motor. I repaired the button with some plastic weld bonding material and a small piece of steel to reinforce the interior of the button. You can't buy just the buttons from the dealer.
2001 mercury marquis-electric window does not open - how do you remove driver side panel?
There are two screws behind rubber caps on pull strap. There is one screw hidden behind plastic piece that pulls out behind the interior door handle. There is one screw to the left of reflector, and one on the bottom of the panel. Pull plastic window/lock button panel up and out (be gentle). Disconnect molex connectors (plastic wire connectors. Pull panel up and out. Replacing window motor is quite difficult and in my opinion it is better to pay someone $50 to fix it than to do it yourself.
Make sure your two cables are hooked up in the canvas roof...One on each side....If not,Take pliers and pull forward and hook into notches.... Also, check for hydraulic fluid leaks. Look under the rear seat. If it's oily, you have a leaking ram or line. John
