Problems with falcons is usually the door lock actuators. they fail all the time. to diagnose. use key to lock doors. once locked, see which one will unlock by trying to open the door. if any of the doors open, the one that opens will be crook. ie, i had a car come in last week. Using the remote, the doors would lock and then unlock straight away so really the car wouldn't lock. i used the key and they all stayed locked but when i went to open the left hand front door, it unlocked the rest of the car. problem was the left hand front door lock actuator.

Try spraying the latch mechanism with WD-40. Work the latch a few times and then spray it again.

buy a new key battery..............alarm will sound for ages but car should start with correct key anyway even with flat battery (which sometimes occurs in a ladies purse with tons of stuff in it pressing the lock button) and can be driven.

Replace it with a new or used one.

My subaru keys are locked inside. Is there anyway of getting into the car?

Does the remote work? When I got my 1992 the remote worked, but only when the key was in the accessory position. The switch worked under the same circumstances.

Mine ended up being a blown fuse in the SECONDARY PANEL which was accessed by removing the cover below the glove box.

I just fixed the same problem on my 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7. The rear door latch handle assembly just needed to be well lubricated. Over time and use the handle kept creeping up, to the point where the tension spring would not push it back down. So it eventually got stuck in the up position to the point where I could no longer open the rear hatch door. I just took some good quality lubricant, such as WD-40 or a teflon spray (made by the same company that makes PB Blaster, sold at most Auto Parts stores or Wal-Mart) and syrayed it up into the door latch handle opening on both sides of the hinged handle. You have to get down on the ground and look up under the black plastic shroud that covers the handle. Work the handle up and down until you are eventually able to get it to go back down by itself. It may take several sprays to get it lubed up sufficiently. Also while you're at it spray some lubricant or liquid graphite into all of your keyed door lock assemblies. Over time these will also seize up on you, from lack of use. Because everybody, inluding myself, uses their keyless entry most of the time.

you might be able to get under the car somehow and flip the hood release from the inside.

I have the same problem with my 99 explorer.I've removed the door panel and sprayed the lock mechanism with carburetor cleaner and it has improved. The power unlock works about 50%.After closer inspection I also noticed a small spring is missing from the drivers door lock and is present on all the other locks.My next effort will be to find and attach a small spring back in place.

lift door handle, using screwdriver, move latch forward....will open

i dont know but it is realy hard to do that take that to a machanic and see if they can do it

In 96, one key should work all locks in the vehicle.

1996 was a crazy year for keys on the mustang. There was 2 different anti theft systems (Chip or No Chip) and 2 different key systems (New 8 Cut or Old 10 cut). That's a total of 4 different blanks to choose from.

I have the same problem and what they did was where your hood release is take the actual cable end out of the lever. In order to get the hood open, someone will have to take some pliars and pull as hard as they can. I have had from several Ford Explorer owners for the same make around year of 1998-2001 that they have had to have their hood release cable replaced due to it being stripped or extra slack in it for some reason. I haven't gotten it replaced yet but I have been told that I have to order this part through the Ford dealership for about $20.00.

If the cable release is broken for the hood on a 2002 Kia Spectra, a person could crawl under the car and see if they can locate the broken part of the cable. If it is still attached to the hood, they could pull it to trip the hood latch. Otherwise, the car will have to be put on a hoist, and a long pole used to trip the hood latch.

The batteries in a Ford Mondeo key fob go in with the positive side facing up. This is the more flat side with the writing on it.

You can buy new locks and replace them in the door they cost about 15 dollars a set if you do it your self but you can pull the door panel inside off and chect to see if the rod that connects to the lock is still connected.

Hello, On your typical situation you want to find out for sure if its the door latch. If so a replacement can be purchased on eBay for around 30-40 dollars. A common problem for the Volvo 850 S70 Series is the latch becomes in operate able and the only fix is a new or used latch/lock. But be sure to diagnose it correctly as the latch as it could also be the other things as well such as loose or unaligned latch or something obstructing the closer of the door.

you purchase a new fuel door assy from GM you take it to body shop to have painted to match your car. you return and struggle with 2 10mm nuts from behind quarter panel. Done. Cost of fuel door from GM $35 cost to have painted at body shop $75 cost of gas running around $50 cost of medical bills from knuckles that got lacerated trying to fit hand in quarter panel $750,cost of knowing you fixed it as cheap as possible because GM or nobody sells the $0.13 spring seperately. Priceless!!!
