What does it mean when im driving your 1995 ford windstar gl and your speedomedor starts flickering and then go to 0 and your transmission then shifts in low?

I may mean that a module governing your transmission is not functioning properly. We had a similar thing happen when the downshifting occurred spontaneously. Replacement of a $350 electronic board solved the problem.

More simply, you probably only need to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). On my Windstar the speedometer would go to 0 and then would not shift out of low, too. This only happened when the sensor got hot; once it cooled it would work normally again...for a while. I replaced the $25 VSS and it has worked fine since.

How do you change a bank 2 oxygen sensor for a Chevy silverado 2004 extended cab truck?

Unplug the electric connecter and then get a wrench that fits it and take it out of the exhaust pipe.

Where are the oxygen sensors located on 2001 Montero sport?

Looking in under the hood, The first sensor is on the left side (pasanger side) under the spark plugs near the rear of the engine by the firewAll. It will be sticking out and looks very similar to a spark plug. It will have a wire connected to it. From the same view you can see the CAT converter. The second sensor i guess is after the CAT converter and is mounted horizontal. I recently took my montero in to auto zone for diagnostics, it gave O2 errors. Im not sure which sensor is bad or even if they are the same. If anyone has any answers or suggestions, email me at stevejlack@hotmail.com

Where is the bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor located on a 1997 Mazda Millenia 2.5L 6 cylinder?

Bank 1 refers to bank of cylinders. You probably got a triple code code that said something along the line of Bank 1 not optimal or something like that. What it means is that your first bank of cylinders running lean. This is usually caused by fuel injectors, or a leaky manifold. Give me your triple code and I will tell you more.

What would cause the engine light to stay on and the FAN to constantly run even when the engine is cold on a 96 2.2 Engine sunfire?

Possible lead wire for the fan shorting out. These problems may or may not be related. As the first contributor said, there might be a wiring problem in the fan switch to the fan motor circuit. Look for a wire rubbing on something else and look for the insulation on the wire to be damaged. Or the switch itself may be bad. I've seen them fail in the shorted (always closed) mode which will make the fan run all the time. This is probably not good on the fan motor as they are not meant to be used continuously. I can't recall right now what that switch looks like, but if you can get the wiring plug off the back of the switch and can get to the terminals that it plugs onto, you can put an ohm meter across the terminals. (do this with the engine off and stone cold) If the needle deflects, the switch is probably shorted (IE; bad) and needs to be replaced. OR, you can just try to CAREFULLY unplug the fan from the switch while the engine is running and the fan is running. If the fan stops, you can pretty much conclude the same thing...bad switch. NOTE: I don't really recommend this procedure. Fans can hurt you! Try to do this from UNDER the car if you can, so you can keep your fingers and clothing ETC away from the spinning fan. Also, this test presumes that the fan is still running all of the time. As to the Check Engine Light, be sure your fuel tank cap is real tight. If it's loose, it can cause the CEL to come on. Failing that, take the car to Auto Zone or Checker or wherever and have them put a code checker on the car's computer. They usually do this for free! It should give you some idea why the light is on.

Is the oxygen sensor for bank 2 before or after the catalytic converter in a 1995 Ford Explorer?

As far as I know , the ( 2 ) oxygen sensors on a 1995 Ford Explorer are

right in the outlets of the exhaust manifolds on both sides of the engine so they

are both before the catalytic converter

Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine

Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine

Where are all of the oxygen sensors located on an 99 infinity qx4?

This vehicle has 4 oxygen sensors. The front two are located in the rear of the engine compartment by the firewall, one on the left exhaust manifold head pipe and one on the right exhaust head pipe. The other two are under the vehicle by the catalytic converters. They screw into the exhaust system and have a plug at the end of it attached by shielded wires that should be connected.

Why does exhaust manifold glow red hot?

Check to see if the engine is overheating, then check the exhaust system to see if it is clogged. If it is clogged, find out the reason why before just replacing exhaust components.

I have seen this problem 3 times, once it was because the distributor was in wrong and the ignition timing was way off, the second time i saw the problem i found a bad Throttle Position Sensor. The third time i found that the timing chain had jumped a few teeth and thrown off the valve timing. A clogged exhaust system will not cause this problem as i have seen numerous (completely)clogged Catalytic Converters and the chief symptoms are: lack of power or no start.

An overheating motor will not cause this problem either. I've lost count of how many overheated motors I've seen and that has never caused a glowing exhaust.

I would begin by using a timing light and check ths base timing, then scan the motor to see if you have a bad Throttle Position Sensor.

Where is the O2 sensor for 98 acura 3.2 tl?

The OS sensor on a 98 Acura 3.2 TL is located in the exhaust manifold. It constantly monitors the amount of oxygen remaining in the exhaust gases.

Where is the sensor for an OBD2 Code error P1155 for a Toyota Sienna 2001. How do you change it and what is the effect if you do not change it?

P1155: Air/Fuel Ratio Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)

The sensor is on the Bank 1 throttle body with electrical connection. Its a delicate sensor. Unscrew it from the throttle body and check if its dirty, spray it with electronic cleaner with care. If its damaged, just replace it.

If its not rectified, the car computer may default the air temperature to 20 degC and the air flow will not be correct and may have the following effect:

1. You might have difficulty in winter startups 2. Loss fuel efficiency (air/fuel ratio is messed up)/NOx problems/failed emission test/prematured catalytic converter replacement etc.

CLARIFICATIONAn Air Fuel Ratio Sensor is also known as Wide Range Oxygen Sensor.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 is mounted in the exhaust header before the Catalytic Converter (CC). The ECU uses the signal from the AF sensor to adjust Air/Fuel ratio. On V6 and V8 engines there is a second AF Sensor in the other header. (Bank 2 Sensor 1).

After the CC there is a narrow range O2 sensor called Bank 1 Sensor 2. It monitors the CC. If there are two CCs there is a second O2 sensor (Bank 2 Sensor 2)

The AF Sensor draws about 3 amps so check connections. The heater is a resistor between the B+ and HT terminals of the plug. On V engines there is also a AF relay to check.

I found the above info else ware on the web. I have the code intermittently on my 2001 V6 Sienna. If I ever get a day off I am going to troubleshoot mine and will report the results.

PS I may have answered this twice. I think I lost the first one.
