Serpentine Belts

First thing, if your belt seems soft or sloppy when you push on it or if it bounces at an idle. When you start/drive you will get a slight knocking sound between 900-1200 RPM that's the internal spring on the tensioner. To fix this you have to go to a dealer and get the replacement supercharger tensioner. The main tensioner in the back near the firewall is easy to find at auto zone or o'reilly auto parts. The idler pulley is a lot easyer to check. Take your accessory belt off of the idler pulley and try to move it, if theres ANY slop it needs to be replaced.

????? The belt only drives the AC so all you have is the tensioner, AC and main pully!

look to rear of engine u will see a square peg a 1/2 inch bar is required pulled towards the front of the engine and a 3mm pin put into the eyelets that align as you pull it forwards *note get the updated belt that misses out the centre idler pulley as they fail regularly

you have to loose the belt in order to slide it out by releasing tension on the tensioner pulley ,what you do it`s sore of a tight motion clockwise on the tensioner bolt it`ll loosen the belt and then you can slide it out, to install it do the same.

The serpentine belt on a 2003 Dodge Dakota is replaced by loosening the belt tensioner and slipping the belt off. It can then be removed from the engine accessories and a new belt installed.

Most reccomended to contact your nearest store, Try searching on Ebay! It might be higher then expected, though.

Water pump,A/C,Power Steering,Alternator,and sometimes a smog pump.

Ask the question again citing the make and model. There are so many different tensioning arrangements and usages of engine belts it is always better to get the specific engine/vehicle manual and follow it.

There is a Haynes manual available for this model year at your local auto parts shop. It will contain all information needed for basic repairs and maintence. What do you mean by drive belt. If your talking about the serpentine belt, it should have an auto tensioner. Same goes for the timing belt. There is no adjustment. If the belt is loose then it needs to be replaced.

Replace your a/c evaporator filter under dash. Liquid refrigerant is getting back to compressor causing belt to break.

Open the hood and look. If it has a serpentine belt there is a tensioner.

It can be the cam belt or the serpentine belt. The cam belt must be replaced every 90,000 miles. Warning: This is an interference engine. If the belt breaks you will have serious engine damage. Replace the cam belt if it is due for replacement. Inspect the serpentine belt and replace if you see any cracks or fraying. If the serpentine belt looks fine or you replace it and the noise is still there, replace the cam belt no matter when it was last replaced. It can be the idler pulley for the cam belt needs replacing and is not holding the correct tension on the belt. This can cause the belt to break even if it is new.

A picture diagram of the drive belt routing is suppose to be on either the underside of the hood, close to the latch assemble or on the radiator support panel. also it as the same routing as a Toyota Corolla 1.6 liter 1987-1992.

Typically, there is one pulley that is mounted on a spring arm to maintain proper belt tension. Just turn the bolt on the idler pulley and the tensioner will release.

alternator belt on any vehicle should be tight enuff that you can push down about 1/8 of and inch on the longest straightest part of belt if engine has a serpentine belt, the belt tensioner will automatically keep belt at correct tension and you don't need to worry bout it unless your rensioner is not working correctly
