How do you replace the water pump on a 1994-2002 dodge ram?
First you need drain coolant. remove serp.belt. remove the fan clutch there is a tool for this but a craftsman strap wrench will hold the pulley just as well u need a 27mm. wrench for the nut and rad. shroud. next remove 4 bolts that hold a/c comp. to top of intake area. there is a wire to unhook lay a/c comp.to side. disconnect batt. and remove alternator 2 bolts lay to side and then remove aluminum bracket. now you have access to by pass hose and clear view of water pump.change bypass hose now you will thank me later then just remove the bolts holding pump fast and remove metal tube in pump and remove pump clean off old gasket. put new gasket on new pump with high tack sealer or other sealer install pump. replace o-ring on metal tube and put some silicone sealer on it as well. reinstall bracket alt. a/c comp. and wires that were un plugged. good luck
More Information:
There is no need to fool with the compresser or the alternator when replacing the water pump on a 318 (5.2L) Dodge Ram. I've replaced the water pump on my 1998 model twice, and never had to deal with other components that aren't directly tied to the water pump.

Where is the water pump for 95 grand am V6?
On the front left of the engine beside the coolant bottle..Belt driven but on the smooth side not the grooved (of the belt).
How do you change the water pump of a 1992 Caprice V8?
This is a fairly easy job and waterpumps are cheap.
Drain the radiator by opening the petcock on the bottom of the radiator. In the event that your radiator was replaced previously without one, just pull off the lower radiator hose and drain it that way. The hose will really hang onto the neck so just work it with channel locks and a little elbow grease and be prepared to get wet. I suggest you catch the coolant and return it to a recycling center as it is really dangerous stuff.
Next, remove the radiator fan by using a socket on the four bolts. I usually just break them loose before I remove the serpentine (drive) belt. The tension from the belt really helps hold the fan from spinning when you are removing the bolts.
To remove the serpentine belt, take a 1/2" drive breaker bar and insert it into the square cutout on the alternator bracket and pull back. This releases the tensioner and you can pull the belt off. Keep in mind that the fan pulley is two peices so pay attention.
You do NOT need to remove the radiator but I strongly suggest you take a piece of cardboard and put it up against the radiator in case you slip with something. I know I have poked a couple holes in radiator causing me to break my promise not to cuss.
Now remove the bolts that hold the water pump on. Look at the new pump and determine where the bolt holes are located and orient yourself with the existing pump. Even after all the bolts are out you will swear that it is still bolted. They are usually really stuck so you have to give it a rap or two. I would not try to pry it off because it can damage the faces.
Once it is off take the time to clean the surface to remove old gasket material or after all your hard work, it will leak. I use a very sharp wood chisel and a straight edge razor blade. The time you spent on this part is worthwhile.
Use Blue RTV, nothing else. Coat the faces of the new water pump with a thin coat of Blue RTV. Set aside and use a small wire or brass brush to clean the bolts. Then coat each with a light coat of RTV. Some of them go into the waterjacket so just do them all. Back to the pump, let it skim for 15 minutes and don't rush it. Next, stick the gasket to the water pump faces and coat again with Blue RTV. Let skim 15 minutes, no less.
Put it back together. Don't forget to close the radiator petcock valve. Flush the system if it is nasty.
Fill radiator with about a gallon and a half of new coolant and run with the radiator cap off until you see good circulation. You won't see any until the thermostat opens which can take upto 15 minutes. Put your heater on as hot as it will go and turn the fan on high. This prevents vapor locks in the heater hoses.
Hope this helps. Top it off and take it for a test cruise.

Where is the water pump located for a 2001 Oldsmobile alero?
The 2001 Oldsmobile water pump is located on the front of the engine. You can follow the top radiator hose directly to the water pump.
If it just started after the thermostat was changed either it was put in backwards or it is not operating properly. GoodluckJoe
was told by a person that experienced the same problem...says that the cars will not overheat when idling no matter how long...only when driving.... says the problem is a bad bottom radiator hose..changed his and doesn't have the problem anymore.
Definitely can. When I replaced mine due to over-heating, I found the plastic impeller had broken up. Your best indication for this sort of failure (including a broken water pump belt) is whether or not you have heat from your heater. No heat = no flow. However, that doesn't rule out a plugged rad or collapsed hose. If the lower rad hose feels very spongy at any point along its length, this could indicate the hose has collapsed internally (the inner hose wall can separate from the hose mesh between the inner and outer walls and collapse during engine operation). Lower hoses often have a light gauge wound spring in them to prevent this and you should be able to detect this. I replied to a question on how to change a water pump for a 1995 V6 that may help you.
OK, my own experiences in this matter, found the following: Thermostat was newer, water pump impellers looked great, hoses seemed OK. Turns out these cars are know for blowing head gaskets. The engine was overheating, and I was getting no heat out of my vents. I was adding water to the overflow like crazy. When I pulled my head gasket, it didnt have any major signs of blow out. Replaced it anyway, and that was the problem. Now the car runs cooler than ever (Temp at "R" in normal). Make sure you replace the Head bots with new ones if you have to do a head gasket replacement (as they are Torque to spec, meaning 1 time use). It really is a PITA to tear into this, many things have to be taken apart to get the head off. Take your time, and do it right.
If you do have to replace your water pump, replace the timing belt as well (as this is another issue with these vehicles)
How do you replace the water pump on a 1987 Ford Aerostar?
Pretty easy for average mech. first drain coolant by loosening the lower radiator hose. make sure to have a drain pan. remove the power steering belt by removing the bolts to the idler pulley. and let belt off the pulley.remove the alternator upper bracket. and remove belt. take fan shroud off with two 8mm bolts on top oe it. you cant remove until you remove the clutch fan assy. it is left handed thread. it has to be removed together. remove the four bolts to the pulley on front of water pump. and then remove all 14mm bolts around the pump. then remove 8mm bolts and it will be able to come off. assemble in reverse order!
its a very good idea
Who do you replace water pump on 1999 Cadillac Deville?
If you have a Northstar 4.6, start by purchasing the special removal/installation tool.
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove both radiator hoses
The water pump is on the right hand side of the engine and is driven by a pulley that comes off of one of the overhead cams.
3. remove the air cleaner assembly.
4. remove the pulley guard.
5. loosen the tensioner and take the belt off of the pulley.
If you decide to replace the belt you need to remove the tensioner, remove the studs that the pulley guard came off of and the tensioner will come out.
6. remove the water pump housing cover. the thermostat housing is bolted to this cover. it has (4)10mm bolts that hold it on.
7. using the special tool, turn the water pump clockwise (it twist-locks into the housing) and remove it.
8. clean all sufaces, replace both o-rings.
9. CAREFULLY! install the new pump with the special tool. be careful that you turn it all the way in counter-clockwise but that you don't pull too hard. The pump has steel tabs that lock into grooves in an aluminum housing. if you damage that housing by forcing the pump too hard you will cost yourself a ton of time and money.
10. re-assemble the engine in reverse order as disassembly.
don't forget to use your torque specs. You are working with aluminum castings.
good luck!
Use new bolts and locking washers, and apply loc tite to the threads before reinstalling. However if you have damaged the aluminum of the bell housing drilling and tapping the holes to a larger size may be necessary, or if there is room to drill all the way through you can use a long bolt with a nylock nut.
Is it normal for AC water condensation to be oily?
No. You may be leaking engine coolant from the heater core or leaking refrigerant oil from the AC evaporator.
How do you check for a bad water pump on a 2003 Nissan Sentra?
Why does your fuel pump leak water?
My fuel pump leaks water because the fuel pump gasket is bad. The gasket itself is quite reasonable but the labor bill can be stupendous, depending on the make and model of vehicle. Especially newer models with sideways mounting, usually frontwheel drive are the most expensive as many parts have to be removed to get to the water pump. If the vehicle is not too old one can use black pepper to slow down or stop the leak and there are leak stoppers sold at your local fast parts store. Some times they work, sometimes they don't. First, we'll assume you mean an automotive fuel pump. Also, this question is not particularly applicable to modern electric pumps that are mounted inside the gas tank. We will assume that the question was asked about an old-fashioned, engine-mounted, mechanical pump.
Generally, these would never leak water. It is very likely that the fluid is coming from somewhere else, flowing down, and only appearing to be coming from the pump.
If the pump had a true leak, it would most likely spray out under pressure when the engine was cranking. A leak like this would be gasoline unless the car had somehow accumulated a lot of water in the gas tank.
A leak around the seal where the pump mounts would normally be oil. Cooling water channels are usually not too close to the pump mount.
So, more investigation is in order:
# First, identify the fluid. Is it really water, or oil, or gasoline, or a mixture?
# Is there water or gasoline in the engine's oil?
# Is the leak just a few drops? It could just be harmless condensate.
# Or does the leak stream or spray? Especially when the engine is cranking or running. Warning: If the fluid is gasoline, do not run the engine until the problem is fixed!
Check the radiator fan operation.
How do you replace the water pump on a 2000 Chevy Malibu?
Doing my water pump now on 2000 Malibu. First remove the tube that runs in front of the water pump by taking the 2 bolts off the motor mount and undo the plastic clamp on the hoses. Next remove the serpine belt. this is done by taking the tension off the belt. In order to do this take a 3/8 braker bar with a short piece of pipe and put in in the tensionser. Do not remove the bolt. The 3/8 squre is on the bottom of the tensioner. Apply a little pressure on the pipe and you'll be able to able to remove the belt. Now remove the 4 bolts on the water pump pully. They open to the left.( a normal therad ). Now you will be able to get at the 5 bolts on the water pump. Hope this helps
How much does it cost to replace a water pump on a 2010 Camry?

How do you replace the water pump on a 1987 Ford Aerostar 6 cylinder?
If it is anything like the 92 Aerostar, you have to remove the air filter hose, then remove the fan shroud, then remove the fan and pully (along with the belt, then you can unbolt the water pump and it will come straight out toward the radiator because of the impeller shaft on the inside. It is about a 4 hour job for an intermediate mechanic.
Ford Aerostar Water Pump replacement Engine Size: 3.0 V6 Front Wheel Drive
Total time with new belts and hoses, 2.5 hours. I did it on 11/25/2006 for my pops.

Where do you start? - drain coolant from lower radiator hose, keep it disconnected - remove top radiator hose - remove airtube from throttle body and airbox, put it aside - remove the fan (turn clockwise with wrench , jam a pulley to keep it from rotating, hit wrench with hammer, loosen it off the mount and keep it there for now. - remove two upper fan shroud screws and remove fan and shroud at same time - remove belts by loosening alternator and loosening power steering pump, remove small plastic serp belt pulley to remove serp belt. (13mm socket) (DRAW DIAGRAMS!!!) - remove pulley with impact driver (13mm wrench)
Remove the water pump by undoing all bolts - keep track of which bolt went where (DRAW DIAGRAMS!!! Trace the new pump and poke holes where the screws go.) - clean all bolts with wire wheel if needed - remove the water inlet feed on the old pump
Remove pump when all bolts are out - clean entire gasket surface - use razor blade - dry surfaces
Prepare the new water pump and gasket: - apply gasket goop to the engine side of the water pump gasket - apply goop to the pump side surface of the water pump ITSELF!
Installing new water pump: - make sure engine block surface side is clean - stick the gasket to the surface lining up holes - put the pump on, have bolt in hand to thread in and hold it - torque all bolts down, I do it by feel - reinstall the inlet hose to the new pump
NOTE!
On all bolts going into the pump use rtv on the smooth surface of the bolt and use blue loctite on the threads!!!
Let it sit for about an hour or so, look at your fine mess and appreciate a days work.
Then.
- Reinstall the pulley on the pump - reinstall the belts in correct order (small one first towards the engine) - fat one towards the front., reinstall plastic pulley to keep it all together
Tension the alternator to take up slack in Serp belt. Tension the power steering pump with a drive ratchet in the square hole to leverage tighten the accessory belt, hold pressure and tighten bolts simultaneously.
Flush your cooling system at this point in time with a garden hose and sprayer.
Reinstall and secure all cooling system hoses - lower radiator hose - upper hose
Reinstall the air tube
Fill cooling system up with coolant and 50% water
Get in, turn engine on and let it idle to operating temps, check for leaks.
If you suspect a false leak drive it for 20 minutes and come back.
Job well done. Not that hard for a days work.
How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 Dodge Intrepid 3.5L?
If it's the same as my 97 3.5L it is located behind the timing cover. This is a 3 piece cover. Remove all 3 pieces, remove timing belt, and you can change water pump. Make sure not to mess timing up while your in there. I missed it by one tooth and had to go back in to fix it.
Where is the water pump on a 1999 oldmobile alero?
The water pump is in the front of the motor .on the right side when looking at engine...there is a black cover on the top of it...that is the waterpum
Wrong... it is on passenger side w/ pulley (cover looking) attached. Be sure it is lined up correctly, vertically w/ tab @ 12 o'clock...
An Ogden pump is a liquid pump powered by either steam or compressed air. Manufactured by Spirax Sarco, it is now an obsolete item, having been replaced by their MFP range.
Often used on industrial sites for steam condensate recovery, it essential works on a ball float and valve principal. Condensate enters the receiver vessel where a ball cock type float is fitted. Once full, the ball cock opens the steam supply valve and the steam pressure forces the hot condensate out through the pumps delivery pipe. The ball cock then closes the steam supply valve and the process restarts.
How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 Saturn?
1. jack the vehicle up on both sides, use jack stands if possible.
2. Remove Passanger front tire, along with plastic splash shield
3. Drain coolant
4. With serpentine belt still installed, loosen the 3 bolts on the water pump pully, don't take them all the way off, just loosen them.
5. Use a 14mm wrench to reduce tention on the serpentine belt enough
so you can slide the belt off
6. Remove the water pump pully bolts, remove pully, or let it rest on the
pump shaft.
7. Remove water pump housing bolts (6 of them) and discard the gasket
8. reverse procedure to reinstall new water pump
Can just the seal go bad on a water pump?
If you mean just the gasket, yes, it is possible and a new gasket will cure it, which requires removal of the pump.
Here's something to consider though; If the water pump is old, or high mileage, check around for the price of a new one anyway, just to see. Some waterpumps are really inexpensive, so if you can get a new one inexpensively, you'd probably save yourself a few bucks, in the long term, if you replaced it now, while the pump is off anyways.
If you mean the shaft seal, yes, in fact, it is the most common cause of water pump failure, and the only repair is a new water pump.
