How do you fix a 1988 Buick Century Limited that has a broken off spark plug still in the head?

Even if the sparkplug is broken, you should be able to get a socket on it and pull it loose. Once you've turned out the metal part it should be rattling around and you should be able to remove the plug. If it's hard to reach, try a magnet.

What causes a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo to start out fine going forward and then sputter and the RPMs to jump high but to have no problems going in reverse?

I had the same problem and soon discovered that I was out of transmission fluid. The way I discovered this of course was the stream of fluid I left right before this happened. I looked beneath the vehicle to find the entire underside covered in transmission fluid, and discored it had been leaking from the Accumulator Piston Cover on the front passenger side of the transmission housing. It is a small round black plastic circle with an indentation in the center which you can see clearly if you cut your wheels to the left and look behind the passenger side front tire at the transmission housing. I ordered a new cover from my local Isuzu service center, $23.00 and some change shipping and part, and you use a snap ring tool, inner type, to remove the old one and snap the new one in place. Then you can use 3/8 inch outer diameter tubing with a funnel held high and pour the transmission fluid into the fill hole on the bottom of the tranny pan until it runs out of the overfill hole up top. Then start the motor and let it get to idle temp, and the tranny fluid will start to circulate and you can continue filling the tranny. According to Oreilly's Auto Parts a fresh fill takes 9 quarts of Dexron III ATF.

What would cause the brake lights not to work and the blinkers in the back not to work when everything works fine up front?

What year/make is the vehicle? Something is suspect here. If the blinkers in the rear won't work, then the ones up front won't work either because there won't be enough load on the system to cause the flasher to work. What I think, is that you probably have one of your 1157 bulbs put in wrong and it is screwing up the system in the back. In fact, if you hit the brakes, I bet the front driving lights are illuminating. Get somebody to watch.

How do you replace ball joints in a 1994 Saturn SL?

they are sold as one unit. being the lower control arm.

Buy aftermarket ones. They're only sold as a control arm assembly. See the first answer.

Just did this. What a pain. Had to use a torch to cut the bolts as the rubber grommet was seized to the bolt and it would not pount through. Good Luck.

I also had to do that, more of a pain than the amount of money i saved doing it myself. I used a torch, angle grinder and chisel to get mine apart. Went in easy though.

What does air bag multistage deployment mean?

I found this on a search I did... here is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbag Many advanced air bag technologies are being developed to tailor air bag deployment to the severity of the crash, the size and posture of the vehicle occupant, belt usage and how close that person is to the air bag module. Many of these systems use multi-stage inflators that deploy less forcefully in stages in moderate crashes than in very severe crashes. Occupant sensing devices let the air bag diagnostic unit know if someone is occupying a seat in front of an air bag, whether the person is an adult or a child, whether a seat belt or child restraint is being used and whether the person is forward in the seat and close to the air bag module. Based on this information and crash severity information, the air bag is deployed at either a high force level, a less forceful level or not at all. Adaptive air bag systems may utilize multi-stage air bags to adjust the pressure within the air bag. The greater the pressure within the air bag, the more force the air bag will exert on the occupants as they come in contact with it. These adjustments allow the system to deploy the air bag with a moderate force for most collisions; reserving the maximum force air bag only for severest of collisions. Additional sensors to determine the location, weight or relative size of the occupants may also be used. Information regarding the occupants and the severity of the crash are used by the electronic control unit to determine whether air bags should be suppressed or deployed, and if so, at various output levels. Air bags in certain car models deploy twice, for two crashes; it first deploys and deflates, and then re-inflates upon a subsequent collision.

What does mean when the air bag light keeps coming on a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon?

The same thing happened to mine, its possibly a little electric problem or your car has had its front airbag deployed.

I'm having the same problem at the moment, but it started after I took my front seats out of the car, so I believe that it could possibly mean that the wire that runs to the side airbags is not connected under one of your seats.

When I had the same problem (twice now) I took it into the dealership and both times the sensor in my seatbelt had come loose or was faulty causing the faulty air bag light. You want to have this checked or fixed cause your air bag will not deploy if the sensor is out

Why would the brakes be vibrating under your foot when pressed?

Sometimes, it can simply be that you have unevenly worn your rotors. Some people have been mislead to believe that when you have ABS, that you do not need to gradually use the brake pedal to stop. Instead, they are told to apply 1 strong push to the pedal to stop, supposedly allowing the ABS to do the rest. Actually, even with an ABS system, you stop the same as if you didn't have it. Constantly stopping "hard" can put uneven wear on the rotor, causing a "bumping" feeling in the pedal when you brake, even though the pads are good. You can have the rotors checked, and turned if they have never been turned before (smoothed out).

This can be caused by a warped rotor, which occurs from sudden amounts of heat (hard braking) when u have your rotors checked also look at your pads, they most likely will be glazed, cauzing them to just ride the warp, as opposed to biting into it -

Who out there has had problems with their reverse gear in their 98 Jetta with standard 5 speed Transmission?

i haven't had problems with my 98 reverse, but my other gears have acted up. i believe that it might be the syncronizer. i sometimes cant get in 2nd or 4th gear. i have to shift it back and forth to work it in. SO, i might be having the same problem. a mechanic told me to either change the transmission fluid or to go ahead and get the syncronizer checked out. i haven't had problems with my 98 reverse, but my other gears have acted up. i believe that it might be the syncronizer. i sometimes cant get in 2nd or 4th gear. i have to shift it back and forth to work it in.
