How do you adjust the belt tensioner on a 1999 Plymouth Voyager?
should be automatic...but ...everyone should have a manual for their vehicle(parts store or dealer), and a local library should have professional shop manuals available in the REFERENCE section for free...make copies of the appropriate sections...read up and good luck :)
Diagram for belt routing on 2000 olds intrigue 3.5 l v 6?
Sorry, but this wiki doesn't allow images. Verbal description of the complete serpentine belt loop on a 99 Olds 3.5 V6 (probably the same on a 2000): Top of CAM to top of ALTERNATOR - bottom of ALTERNATOR to top of nearby (front) PULLEY - bottom of PULLEY to top of A/C COMPRESSOR - bottom of COMPRESSOR to bottom of CRANK - top of CRANK to bottom of middle PULLEY - top of middle PULLEY to bottom of rear TENSIONER - top of TENSIONER to back to top of CAM. Remember the serpentine belt has ribs on only one side, the ribs face AWAY from the two guide pulleys and TOWARD the pulleys on the Alternator, Compressor, Crank, Cam and Tensioner. You should tell by the pulley being smooth or ribbed as needed.
How do you replace an alternator on a 1985 Pontiac fiero?
Raise the car so you can work under the rear of the engine.
Make sure you support the car safely
Disconect the negative battery cable.
Crawl under the car, diconect the alternator wiring, should be one wiring conector that clips in and one heav wire with a 10 mm nut under a rubber cover.
Undo slider and pivot bolts being carefull to suport the alternator. In it falls on your face it means a trip to the hospital.
Reverse proceedure for assembly.

How do you change the tension pulley and serpentine belt on a 1994 Lincoln mark viii?
I used a breaker bar for the tension pulley to relieve the tension to remove the belt, I think there are three bolts that hold the tension pulley on, just remove them and reverse the procedure to install. Follow the diagram that is either on the inside of the hood or on the radiator cover on how to thread the belt back on the pulleys.
Thrree methods on how to drive a water pump?
1. Electric Motor 2. Belt off the crankshaft 3. Shaft driven (similar to a distributor)
How do you release the belt tension on a 2003 dodge grand caravan?
If you're talking about the serpentine belt, there is a belt tensioner between the water pump pulley and the anti-vibration pulley, both of which are visible when you remove the right front tire and the plastic cover. There is also a diagram of the location of these items in front of the radiator under the hood. To remove the tension on the serpentine belt, take a pry bar and pry the pulley end of the belt tensioner down using the frame as the pry point. The spring on the tensioner is pretty stiff, so it will take some effort.
How do you remove the drive belt tensioner the complete assembly on a 1998 Camaro 3800 V6?
I am in the process of replacing my tension assembly in my 1996 Camaro (also a 3800 V6). I haven't got it all apart yet, but I did buy a factory replacement part from O'Reilly's today. From what I can see from looking at the new part, you must remove your alternator first. At that point, you'll see that the tension assembly is a fairly large piece that is only held on by a few bolts. Toward the top, it forms one of the mounts that the alternator attaches to, and toward the bottow, it curves back out and has a couple of rubber hoses attached to it. I haven't figured out where the hoses go to exactly, but they look fairly easy to remove.
The thing that really threw me off is that I thought you had to have some sort of special tool to remove the tension assembly. I thought that just the tension pulley (black plastic wheel) and the arm that it attaches to was the assembly, but it's actually a big piece that attaches with a few bolts.
Well, I hope this points you in the right direction. Just remember, remove the alternator first and you'll see how big the assembly actually is.
If its like my Buick Regal (98) there are 2 bolts holding the tensioner on. Remove those bolts (2 1/2 in or so) and it will seem like something else holds it on. It will be loose yet won't come off. Since coolant flows through the tensioner it has to go back into the engine. You have to take a prybar and gently pop it off the engine. There are (2) passages in the tensioner. One is a 90 degree plastic elbow that goes into the intake manifold. This will break when you pry it off. The other passage slips into the water pump. There is an o-ring in there, do not forget to change it. The elbow is called a heater core bypass elbow, your parts store should have it. You will have to use a seal pick to get the old pieces out. Clean the passages out with a rag, spray silicone on the new stuff and it should slip in easily. Also I would suggest if it hasn't been done yet, R@R the lower and upper intake manifold gaskets and get the Dexcool antifreeze out of the motor. Trust me on this, it will save you a ruined engine. Good luck.
Here is a diagram that shows the whole assembly. I am planning on replacing one of the elbow O rings on our Chevy impala because it is leaking, hope it goes smoothly! Thanks for posting your experience.

How do you install a v-belt on a BMW 740 il 1998?
It is not a v-belt but a rib-belt and there are two the a/c rib-velt and the water/power stering/ alternator rib- belt and the way you remove them is to release the two screws atached to the two springs to releave the pressure off the spring therefore reliasing preassure on belt. it is easier if you takeengine fan off, the treade on the fan works the opposite way. not righty tighty but righty lossy.

There is no fan belt it is an electric fan. Are you referring to the serpentine belt?
How do you change the serpentine belt on a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country?
A 15mm box end wrench, preferably with a long handle, is the only tool needed to change the belt Put this wrench on the cap screw head at the center of the idler/tension pulley, which is located just below and forward of the alternator, and rotate the pulley and its arm forward to relieve spring tension on the belt. While holding the wrench forward, slip the belt off of the tension idler and then off of the alternator pulley. Let the wrench go back and rest against other parts but leave it in place. Slip the belt off of the other pulleys. Tight clearance between the frame and power steering pump requires the belt to be turned sideways at that spot to get it out, a task made easier by working from below where the belt can be readily accessed. Pull the old belt out and insert the new one, again turning it sideways at the PS pulley. Following the diagram shown on the top of the radiator cross member, slip the belt over all of the pulleys except the alternator and idler/tension. Be certain the belt is centered in each pulley so it will seat properly in the groves. Pull the idler/ tension forward again for max clearance, slip the belt on the alternator then over the tension idler. If it is too tight, it is most likely that the belt is not centered in the grooves on at least one of the pulleys

How do install a serpentine belt in a Ford Focus?
For a 2004 w/Zetec 2.0 L
- disconnect battery
- raise and support passenger side
- note how the belt is routed (draw diagram if necessary)
- from underneath the car locate the tensioner pulley - it is the one directly below the alternator towards.
- Using a wrench (I think 13 or 15mm) rotate the pulley CCW
- Note that you may have to hook two wrenches together end to end to get the proper leverage to rotate the pulley. I found there was no room for a socket/ratchet nor for a serpentine belt tool
- When you loosen the belt, have someone pull the belt of the alternator pulley and the belt should come off.
- To install, you'll need to rotate the tensioner again and have someone put the belt back on the alternator. Make sure, the routing is correct and make sure the belt is centered correctly on all of the pulleys.
How do you change the serpentine belt on a 1996 Continental?
This is not a job for a novice. If you don't have to do it yourself, take it to a mechanic! To access the parts the inner fender skirt needs to be removed. It is a good idea to replace the TENSIONER PULLY AND THE IDLER PULLEY as long as you are going to do so much to replace the belt. Some have reported that either or both of these parts 'went out' shortly after replacing the belt. If that happens you have to redo this all over again. The parts don't cost that much so it is wise to do it all at once.
Basically it goes like this; * Remove the Belt * Remove the Tensioner * Remove the Idler Pulley * Reverse process for installation Belt Removal
WARNING: Do not allow drive belt tensioner to snap back, as damage to drive belt tensioner or personal injury could result.
1. Remove the screws and position the power steering fluid reservoir out of the way. 2. Remove the nut and the bolts and position the degas bottle out of the way. 3. Lift or rotate the automatic drive belt tensioner away from the drive belt. 4. Remove the drive belt. (I had to cut my belt to remove it at this point. It is virtually impossible to get it around the tensioner without removing the tensioner.)
Tensioner Removal 1. Remove the bolt.
2. Remove the pushpins and position the inner RH fender wall out of the way.
3. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
Belt Idler Pulley Removal
1. Remove the belt; refer to Belt Removal.
2. Remove the bolt.
3. Remove the belt idler pulley.
Installation is just a matter of reversing the steps for removal.
Note: Make sure drive belt is properly installed on each pulley. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

Why does my Serpentine belt does not turn when the car is running?
You probably have a siezed alternator or something. Take it off and see if all you're pulleys turn freely.
