How do you change door hinge pins in a 2001 gmc jimmy?

You can't. The entire hinge must be replaced.

Completely FALSE! The pins can be replaced and are currently available for ~$6 from Advanced Auto Parts stores (Motormite #38419). First, the detent spring must be removed. Support the door either on a jack or some stands of the proper height. Remove the retention washer from the top of the pin. Then push the pin out of the hinge. Replace the bushings with those supplied in the replacement pin kit and push the new pin up into place the same way that the old one came out (make sure to lubricate the pin properly with some heavy grease). Install the retention washer and reinstall the spring (which is easier said than done).

Taking the spring out was hard and I've never been able to replace the old one. I here there is a special tool to do this but it is not that important to me. Be careful removing the old spring.

I have replaced the door hinge pins and bushings many time on my 99 Chevy blazer. You can buy the kit at autozone or most auto parts stores. My friend owns an autobody shop so he has the spring depresser tool to remove the detent spring. You may be able to buy the tool in an auto parts store or maybe even rent one. But if you can remove that spring just follow the directions above! Good luck!

The spring compressor tool is very cheap and runs about $10 at Advance or Auto Zone. Spend the little extra money to do the job right. Without it the door opens way too easily and is not held open. The best write up can be found here:

How do you refill a 1988 Chevy van with freon?

Unfortunately, if the air conditioning system is factory original and has not been converted to use the new R-134a refrigerant, you cannot refill the system yourself. R-12 refrigerant is the old stuff, it must be charged by a professional and will be very expensive. They quit making it almost 15 years ago. Depending on your location is could cost upwards of $300 to get it recharged, and if the system is low then you probably have a leak somewhere so that might be $300 out the proverbial window. If you plan on keeping the van, I would suggest that you convert the system to R-134a. A local air conditioning shop can do this for you. I will cost more than just a refill of R-12, but in the long run, it will be much cheaper as the refrigerant is MUCH less expensive should a leak develop.

How do you fill the rear window washer with fluid in a 1996 Jeep Cherokee low washer light is on?

How do you remove the ignition lock cylinder from a 1994 Saturn sc2?

If it is like the '97 SC2, which it likely is:

Remove the plastic cover from around the steering column.

Turn the old ignition cylinder to ACC (I know what you are about to say... If you can turn the cylinder, why replace it. Unfortunately I can't answer that. I had to drill out the old lock to replace the one on my saturn. Please consult a locksmith before doing so. You don't want to drill into the wrong parts.)

With the old cylinder turned to ACC, there is a small button on the side (probably upper right towards the air vents) Push this button in and the old cylinder should pull out. Installation is reverse of removal (without the drilling...)

Where is the Daytime Running Light Module specifically located for a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Answer

The Daytime Running Lights module (DRL) is located behind and below the radio in all Gen 1 Neons (at least the Canadian versions). Remove the console faceplate by just pulling it off. Remove the Radio with a 10 mm socket. You may be able to continue without unplugging the radio, but it's easier to access if you do.

The DRL is bolted on an angle to the lower rear of where the radio sits. Two 10 mm bolts also hold it in place, you will be easily able to see the left hand one.. the right will be more difficult. Both can be accessed by inserting your 10 mm socket on and extension through the bolt access holes under the radio housing. Be careful not to lose the bolts when you've released them, as fishing them out from the shifter console will be annoying at best!

The DRL is connected by one large rectangular connector... it just unclips and pulls off. You will lose your daytime running lights and High Beam indicator once removed, however all other headlight functions will remain.

How to tell if head gasket blown?

It really depends on how bad the problem is. If the problem is a small leak in the head gasket or head, then the engine will start and may even run ok for a little bit before it starts overheating. If the leak is bad enough a good deal of antifreeze might be inside the engine and starting it could result in severe damage (this is called hydrolock), and you will likely need another engine if this happens. No matter if you can start it or not, it is strongly recommended that you minimize any driving in it and get it fixed as soon as possible.

How do you replace the front and rear brakes on a 2001 VW Beetle?

You will need a metric Allen wrench (7 mm).Jack up passenger side and place jack stand. Remove wheel. Take a screwdriver and work it in between brake pad and rotor. Once done, apply steady pressure on brake pad until you push the caliper piston as far in (toward engine) as it will go. You will need to remove caliper bolts. They are on the back of the caliper at top and bottom. Place Allen wrench in each bolt and turn wrench towards front of vehicle to remove. Once removed, remove caliper with brake pads inside. Match new brake pads with old and put new pads in like you removed the old pads. Place new pads and caliper back on vehicle and replace caliper bolts. If caliper and new pads do not slide easily back in place, you may need to get a large c-clamp and push piston back in caliper a little more. After you get caliper back on and tightened, get in car and pump your brake pedal until it is hard to push. This resets the brake pads. Replace wheel and your done!!

How do you put on the 4 wheel drive?

first you need to lock the front hubs (this is done manually) you must rotate the hubs located on the two front wheels. On stock hubs, it'll say 4x... 2 (on the rim of the hub) when not engaged and 4x...4 when engaged. to lock then pull the short stick shift down that hi 4 then down again to low 4 range to disengage push up then unlock hubs rule of thumb always reverse back 20ft to ensure full release ...... agree... however, make sure you are rolling about 2-3 mph forward... this will help engage. I just read it in my 1986 cj7 manual today.

If the bulb isn't the issue then you should take it to a mechanic to see if there is a sensor out of whack that is tellling the brake lights to come on.
