How do you fix the rear window motor cable on a 1991 convertible?
Hi, First of all, it's not worth trying to replace just the cable. I've had 3 convertibles 88, and two 91's. The best thing to do is to replace the whole untit (glass, hardware, etc.), it all comes in one piece. You can get these fairly inexpensive at a salvage yard, especially if you don't need the motor. Sometimes you can find them on ebay. It takes a bit of work but it's actually pretty easy to do. You get to the rear windows by removing the back seat and then the whole panel that surounds the speaker, etc. Once you get at the window regulator, I believe it's only 3-4 bolts that hold it onto the chasis. Unplug the window motor and slip it out the top. Someone has submitted a step by step write up on this FAQ site. Review that and you should be in good shape.

Is there an exact fit to change out the 2.7 Liter motor on my v6 1999 Dodge Intrepid?
The 3.2 and 3.5 will interchange . There are sites on the computer that explain the change . You have to take the computer from the donor car . The 2.7 is an engine that was pretty well designed but someone screwed up the oil return system and evidently the crank case ventilation system . Don't feel bad . Toyota has had the same problems . They just have a better public relations department . Good luck .
I had both rear window pull cables detach from the carrier rail. I'm going to recall the steps from memory, so bear with me if the reality differs from this explanation:
After removing the door panel, speaker, and inner liner (be carefull not to tear it up, you'll need to reuse it when you put it back together), you will need to remove the 4 bolts that hold the slide rail in place (two on top, two on bottom) and the three (?) that hold the motor.
After the bolts are removed, slide the window to about 3/4 down position and remove the clip that locks the glass carrier to the slide rail. Then CAREFULLY push the glass out while pulling the slide rail in to separate them (I may be remembering this backwards, just be careful not to break the glass separating the two).
Once they are separated, slide the window all the way up and rotate the rail and motor assembly clockwise or counter-clockwise (depending on which side its on). The motor should come out first.
If you'll examine the window regulator carefully, you'll notice that the window mount (plastic bracket that attaches to glass) is broken. You can confirm this by moving it up and down the aluminum column with your fingers. Replace the broken window mount with a new one--it's quite easy
Put the new assembly in using the reverse rotation.
How to fix a Venture van electric window stuck in open position?
Hi,
Most of the time a problem like this is either the switch or the wiring between the switch and the window motor.
You will need to do a little troubleshooting, but it is a relatively simple circuit that controls the windows.
I have a link below that will explain how the windows work and also has a drawing of the circuit.
Good Luck, Greg

How do you take the door panel off a ford explorer to fix an electric window?
This is a general answer for removing door panels on most vehicles. Usually there are some screws that need to be removed. These screws may be tricky to find. Sometimes they are hidden in a carpeted panel. If your vehicle has a carpeted panel, feel along the panel for holes. Screws may also be hidden behind light or reflector covers. These covers usually snap off fairly easily with a flat screwdriver. If your door has a light behind this cover you may need to unplug it or turn the light socket to remove it from the panel. Some vehicles have screws behind a small panel in front of the window space that should snap off fairly easily. You may also have to remove the handle. On some vehicles you have to pull the handle toward yourself and look behind the handle for a screw. If you don't have electric windows, the crank handle will also need to come off. This usually requires a special tool. Screws may also be found along the bottom or side edges of the panel. Once you have all the screws removed, the panel will either need to be pulled upwards and then outwards or only outwards. (make sure your lock lever is pushed down and that you lift over it) If your door has electrical, the plug-ins will have to be unplugged. If you need your controls while working on your door, your control panel should snap out of the door panel and you can plug it in. There should be a plastic 'dust' layer that can be pulled off You may not need to pull the hole layer off. Your door speaker may need to be removed before this plastic. Removing the speaker also gives you more access to the inside of your door. Once you are done working inside your door, reverse all the steps you did. Make sure that you plug everything back in and that everything is put together properly. Make sure that you clean to back of the door where the pastic layer needs to stick. If your panel came of by pulling it forward, the clips may have stayed in the door. If they did, pull them out of the door and back into the spot on the panel they came out of. Put the panel back onto the door. Remember to make sure the lock lever is aimed through the panel. Finally, put all the screws and handles back.
Why Power door and all but drivers power windows stopped working?
This happened this past weekend (4/08) to me.
I found this answer and tried it and it worked.

With the ignition off, set the intermittent wiper control to the middle position, then turn the car on. This resets the brain and gets things back to normal. So ... * Ignition switch off. * Intermittent wiper set to middle position. * Ignition back on. * Back in business!
I had to try it twice/ second time I turned the key until wipers stopped in middle of windshield then turned car off, then started engine. That time, locks and windows started working again.
Where is the driver side power window fuse?
There is no single fuse for one power window. The most common thing is the switch to fail. This would be the master window switch. Try jumping the wires with a live current and see if the window goes up and down. If it does then its your switch, if the motor fails to move most likely its the motor/regulator.

How to fix power windows on a 1989 bronco 2?
If you can still here the window motor running then you need a power window repair kit should be able to find one at your local auto parts store ANSWER: just to add to the answer above if you hear the motor then you will need a new gear kit i got one for 20, for a brand new motor its like 70 bucks that why i just got the gear kit. you will have to take off the motor for the power steering and there are 3 bolt holding it in and then a braket and you can access the braket nut from the bottom of the door. now the bolts for the motor is tricky cause what i did was get a dremmel and cut small holes in the door so i could access the bolts easier, once you have the motor out just throw the gears in. while your at it i would grease everything too just to make it work smoother.
The possible cause are bad brushes on the window lift motors. I had this same problem with my 97 camry. It turned out to be worn brushes. After an unsuccessful attempt to find replacement brushes, I had to buy a new motor. New or rebuilt motor and lift assemblies can be found at many parts suppliers on the web. The motors are not difficult to replace. Recommend buying a Haynes or Chilton auto repair manual that can take you through the steps to replacing same. Goodluck.

How do you replace a power window motor on a 1991 Ford Explorer?
This is a work in progress - replacing rear passenger side window regulator with broken cable on '91 Ford Explorer:
Caution: Expect the entire exercise to take the larger part of your weekend.
Remove all interior door handles, trim, plastic backing and speakers; remove all exterior trim including the rubber gaskets, small rear window section and window guides. If you do not how to get here, I suggest that you do not attempt this task because it is probably beyond your capability. No insult intended, Ford made it rather difficult to perform the next step.
Remove window: drill out aluminum rivets attaching the window mounting bracket to the slide. This is a rather difficult task if you do not have acordless drill and several small (1/16) drill bits. Drill a series of holes in the aluminum material of the rivet (the center is a relatively hard steel shank used to expand the rivet on the inside). Punch out the stem, break apart the rivet remnants and extract pieces. Do the other one. Have someone hold the window or use the window suction cup holder to keep it fro crashing down. Carefuly extract the window.
Remove rivets holding the bottom of the slide rail the same general way as above.
Remove three rivets holding the motor bracket to the interior door skin (same as above).
Disconnect the motor connector
Remove two nuts holding the upper end of the window slide.
Extract the slide and the motor through the rear inside opening in the inside door skin.
As they say. reassembly is a reverse process of disassembly. Use 1/4"-20 0.5" bolts/flat washers/lockwashers/nuts to replace the infernal rivets. Make sure you lubricate the slides, cables and all moving paqrts with (???? - non-hardening grease). Test everything, align if necessary before closing up the door.

How do you replace the Rear Passager window in a 1991 Lincoln Town Car?
I have a 91 and just had the rear window replace by a window installer. Remove all screws, use a small pri-bar to remove panel and then remove molding around the window. Lower the window about half way down and using a bar hold the window frame steady drill out two rivets and loosen two bolts holding the sliders. These are inside the panel. Pull old frame out and put new window in from top. We used short bolts to install new window in where rivets were drilled out and reassemble. Good luck.
