I am having the same problem as you are with my 95 Windstar but my windows work intermitantly. First thing I would do is check the fuses. There are separate fuses for driver and passenger windows. If this isn't the problem then I would check the relays for the windows. They might be sticking or something. You can buy new ones from NAPA for about $7 each. I personally try the cheap approach first. If this isnt the answer, then get a tester and see if you have power to the window motor. If you do have power when the door switch is activated, then you have a bad motor. I would then recommend that a dealer replace because glass breaks easily.

Make sure the motor is in fact bad... Many times they just stop working because the armature brushes hang up and will not make contact with the motor armature. Sometimes you can slam the car door and this will jar the brushes and they will make contact with the armature. If this doesn't work you will need to remove the door panel and reach inside the door where the window motor is located and tap the electric motor with a small hammer or some other suitable object. While you are tapping the motor have someone hold the window switch in a functioning position, either up or down depending on the position of your window. I have done this many many times and hopefully it will work for you and you will not have to replace the motor. Good luck

I just did this in my car. You start on the inside, remove all screws and clips that hold door on. Once you have the seat belts and the inside handle and lock out of the way, the panel can come off. There is plastic behind there that needs to be unscrewed from door and pushed to the side. Inside there are about six screws holding the window motor on. The hardest part was removing the motor from the gear. Keep in mind that the window must be up at beginning.

I don't know the exact procedure, but I do know that you have to secure the old regulator when you remove it, because it is spring loaded and capable of removing a finger or two -- so be careful and if u dont know what ur doing take it to a shop so u dont have to be bottlefed for the rest of ur life . not being mean but i seen a man get all of his front teeth knockd out replacing 1

when replacing motor what position does the window need to be in?

I have empathy for you. I have replaced both front window motor/regulator units in my son's 1991 Dynasty LE. Usually, if the power window will not go up or down the motor or regulator has failed. Don't keep messing with the power motor or you could damage other stuff like the window. Continuing to press the power window button is not going to make it work if the motor or regulator has failed. In my case the motors did not fail - the regulator assemblies failed. On our 1991, the regulator raises and lowers the window using a steel cable. What an engineering piece of crap! The first one failed when the cable jumped the groove in the take-up spool and kinked the cable. The second one failed because a plastic retainer that holds the end of the cable broke. Don't waste your time trying to buy just the motor or just the regulator. Buy them as an assembly. I priced one new at the dealer and had a near heart attack. The salvage yard is the only way to go. There are two type of motor/regulators. One uses a steel cable and the other uses a nylon gear assembly. They are both interchangeable and these things fit several Chrysler Corp models over several years. Which type is better - I don't know. I'm batting 0 for 2 on the steel cable type. I paid $65.00 for the plastic gear type and $75.00 for the cable type (it was normally selling for $85). If the salvage yard pulls the motor/regulator when you order it, ask them to give you the nuts and bolts and plastic pieces that mount the regulator to the door and window in case yours is damaged or loss. You will need to take off the door panel and carefully remove the moisture shield in order to get to the regulator. I won't go into detail here how to do that since I covered removal of the inner door panel in another question. Getting the motor/regulator assembly out of the door requires patience, but it does come out. Before you begin, just be sure to start with the window in the up position (held up by tape or some other means) and by removing the negative battery cable. Hope this helps. Good luck. The controls and rails have worn and the vibration of the vehicle is allowing the weight of the window to move everything down. You may need to remove the door panel to replace some of the internal parts and the window rails.

I would suggest purchasing the CNC milled metal gear, as the gear that comes stock with the headlight motor is nylon and has a tendency to get stripped.

In my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan ES AWD, the fuse box is a black rectangular box to the right of the battery, as you look into the hood from the front of the vehicle.

A lot of them also have fuses under the dash near the P brake pedal.

remove plastic moulding around door handle and door lock. unscrew door handle and unsnap plastic anchors around lower portion of door unscrew door panel from door. lift up on panel and remove. remove plastic. unscrew motor from door , let window down and remove two screws holding window. remove motor and metal bar replace and reverse process. 1991 Nissan maxima

There are two fuse boxes, one is under the hood on the passenger side. The other is in the trunk under the carpet, next to the battery.

if you have checked usuall fuse etc check for power to console if present console is broken illumination of panel will be out as well as all switches windows mirrors and sunroof i hope this helped

I just replaced the window regulator in my 1999 Silverado. It was actually alot easier than I thought it would be.This may be due to the fact the cable on the regulator busted when the window was in the up position (explain later). 1. Take door panel off by prying off with srew driver moldings for outside mirror,around lock,and door handle, then pry up counsel for power locks, windows, and mirror adjustment and disconnect plugs. Remove three screws located behind arm rest handle, inside where counsel was removed, and bottom middle of door panel. Lift panel and pull slighlty towards you. Disconnect courtesy light, and wire to speaker. This may sound like alot but it goes pretty fast. 2. Peel away plastic and loosen window glass clamps (explaination from above, which are accessable when window is in up position). 3. Disconnect wire to motor, and remove 6 bolts holding guide rails and motor. Lift rails slightly to release from little hangers, which come in handy when putting new one in. 4. You should be able to remove entire window regulator at this point. Surprisingly the window stayed in up position when regulator was removed. 5. Before installing new regulator loosen window glass clamps. Install new by first setting guides in place by using the little hangers. Bolt guides and motor, temporarily connect power window switch and carefully raise window regulator until clamps are resting in place under window glass, tighten clamps. Test before putting panel back on. Took about 1 to 2 hours, bought part online www.1Aautoparts.com for $139.00

When making changes to anything electrical a person needs to have a diagram. The wiring diagram for the power windows on a 1988 Dodge Dakota can be found in its manual.

You can either replace the switch or temporarily, jump across the connections. This will move the window to the up position. Better answer.... The switch needs to be plugged in, in order to jump the connections. Remove the plate that cover the inside handle, unplug the power door lock. Now you have access to the underside of the window switch. Unplug the switch and pop it out (pry the lock tabs in). Remove the bottom white plate off the switch. This gives you access to the conncetions. Look at the wire harness plug, it has letters on it, A, B C D on one side, E - H on the other. With the white plate off, plug the switch back into the wire harness. Jump E - H (blue to light tan wires) with the ignition on). Be carefull not to hit anything else. I used electrical tape to protect the inside of the switch. The window will rise. And then onto E-Bay to buy a used switch.

remove back seat, remove screws bottom and top of panel, remove panel. remove 3 bolts and motor arm, window and regulator will pull out.

The window weatherstripping gets dry, Lubricate it with any type of lubricant. Dry lithium is the best.

if your referring to the 12 cigarette plug it is below the radio on right side.

Looking at the front of the car the cylinders are 4, 3, 2, 1 from left to right. The firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2 and the distributor rotates clockwise.

The amplifier for the sound system is in the trunk on the right hand side of the car attached the the vertical panel on the trunk side of the rear seat. On most sound system options, this amplifier has a pre-amp required for the factory radio. If you are installing an aftermarket radio, you will need a bypass plug to eliminate the on board amplifier yet utilize the existing wiring and speakers.

First you need to take the handles and door panel off. Then you need to see whether the window has jumped off the track or if the track has come apart or is broken. If it has jumped the track, put some silicone caulk in the track and set the window back in. Make sure the track is in the down position. After replacing the window in the track, roll it all the way up and leve it for a few hours. If the track has broken, you will neew to find out where it is broken and fix or replace it. There could be a broken weld which a GOOD welder can fix for you. If you're not a professional welder do NOT try to do it yourself. It is a precision fit.

The drivers side window switch is the master switch which means all the power goes thru it first, before it continues to the passenger side. I would remove the master switch and using a 12V circuit tester, I would see if current is passing thru the switch and also it may simply be a loose connection at this master switch.I hope this helps you. Besides having a breeze outside that would attract the smoke to go outside cool air also attracts smoke, not to mention the vehicle is moving. If you blew smoke into an empty milk carton and there was no way for it to get out and then punched a small hole every so often in the container the smoke would come out of that milk carton because it has oxygen (air) that it's attracted too. If you put the same carton in the fridge where it is cold then the smoke will come out of the carton much quicker.

i just bought a dodge neon 2 days ago and i love it i just wish i could install an alarm system and power window motor. i have no idea i hope someone can answer soon
