Fuel and Engines

We commonly relate fuel and engines with gasoline. Other engines also run on natural gas such as propane and “bio-fuels” such as ethanol. The principle remains the same as the fuel induces internal combustion.

What could cause a strange vibration from the engine on a 1999 VW Beetle?

Unfortunately, there are too many moving parts on a vehicle to give you an adequate answer. It all depends on the circumstances under which the vibration occurs. (Such as it only occurs while idling, accelerating, etc...) I can tell you that there are repair shops that will give your vehicle a free inspection. Just call around. Even if there are no mechanics willing to look at it for free, I'd still get it looked at. Unusual/abnormal vibrations can cause damage to perfectly fine parts of your car if you leave it go for too long, thus adding to the repair bill. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

What does the bleeder screw for antifreeze on 1990 Subaru engine look like?

Not all subaru engines have the bleed screw.Models equipped with the screw is loacted at the top of radiator

How do you rebuild an 89 Honda Prelude engine?

1: remove the engine via "cherry picker" $120

2: store engine on engine stand for work, $60

3: eBay engine rebuild kit, range from $100~ ( basic for seals ) to over $600 with pistons, pumps, crankshaft etc.

Why would engine have no compression?

there are a number of reasons. some being engine has a lot of miles,a busted compresion ring, burnt valve,or even a blown head gasket. you need to find out if it`s one cyl. or all by running compression check on each cyl.

2001 Pontiac Montana Code P0135 Replaced the O2 sensor Still getting the same code Now what?

Ok. The O2 Sensor heater circuit has a fault, Usually a new sensor will fix it, yours did not.

The next step is to do some diagnostics.

There are a couple good youtube vids on how to check the sensor, just ype in the code #.

If the sensor tests good then you have a wiring, computer, ground or power supply issue. To trace that down takes a wiring diagram and a couple hours. on a thirteen year old car I am going to bet broken wire.

Good Luck

How to buy a biodisel engine?

A diesel engine is a biodiesel engine.

If you have a diesel engine, you can fill it up with biodiesel anytime.

How do you replace an engine?

Without knowing the vehicle or engine in question, the general answer is that you disconnect and remove one engine and reinstall another in its place. All wiring and hoses which connect the engine to the vehicle would need to be disconnected and marked in some fashion to aid with reconnection, don't rely on memory, there's too much stuff.

If you put diesel in a 2 stroke chainsaw will the engine run after removing the diesel from the chainsaw and put the correct fuel in?

yes, i had a saw that was frozen or scoured took it to a shop, left it with them as salvage. they called me two weeks later and told me to come pick it up, they had used diesel fuel in some fashion and got it running. i still have it, used it last week. suing regular gas with a mix

Which battery cable to you re-connect first?

How does the ignition system start up the engine?

There were only a few cars in history the "Ignition System" started the car.

For Example: The Rolls Royce cars in the early 20 th century had a system that allowed you to quickly advance the ignition lever and the car would start.

In modern cars The ignition system starts to make a spark at exactly the right moment when the starter rolls the engine over.

The terminoligy we use for how we start cars is due to the use of the Ignition Switch to also control the starter.

Average spent on gas per family per year?

Probably about, lets say $4,800 U.S dollars a year because since the average cost for gas is like $50, you might buy gas each week where there's 4 weeks average in a month ;so that's $200 a month,$200 x 12(months in a year)=$2,400; which is one car a year. The average family has about 2 cars so the average cost a year,($2,400) x 2=$4,800.

Where is the PVC valve on a 1998 Chrysler Town and Country v6 3.8 l engine?

I have a 97 Town and country LXI FWD with a 6 cylinder engine. If you are standing at the front of the vehicle looking at the engine, the PCV valve is on the left side of the engine under the intake runners. There is a long hose that runs all the way under the intake runners and then connects into the intake on the right side (there is an elbow right where it connects in).

What causes a 2000 blazer 4.3 to have raw gas fumes out the exhaust and use excessive gas?

The cause could be a fuel injector stuck open. On the 4.3 262 v6 chevrolet used the spyder injection system which is know to stick open or closed. Also you could have a bad thermostat. The thermostat could not be closing properly causing the car to over cool and keep the engine control computer in open loop thus injecting excessive fuel constantly.

How do you mix a diesel truck filled with gasoline?

If you mean how do you FIX it, then drain all the gasoline out of the tanks. Disconnect the fuel lines and blow out all gas from the lines. In other words remove all gasoline from every component on the truck.

How much does it cost to install an engine?

a do it your self will cost about $45 to do it right. a garage will charge between $750-$1200

What is CC in engine?

C.C stands for Cubic Capacity. The term can be applied to any object that can contain a volume of something. Cubic Capacity is measured in cm3 (Cubic Centimetres) or C.I (Cubic Inches). One Cubic Centimetre is equal to one centilitre. When talking about engines, C.C is the total volume capacity of all the engines' cylinders put together. The measurement is taken when each piston is in the down position. CC is not an indication of how much fuel the engine draws in per stroke (cycle); this is dependant on valve timing and clearances, nominal fuel line-pressure and various carburation / injection settings.

Is diesel better?

Yes, they get better mileage, more torque, and are cleaner burning. You can tow twice that with a diesel pickup than you could with a gas pickup.

Diesel cars get amazing mileage. 55mpg for a volkswagen Jetta TDI.

How many hourse power does a 250cc lifan engine have?

There are many chinese/Honda clones : Lifan,Loncin,Ducar,Zongshen. .etc.

They have a very similar look, but most have pushrods instead OHV, the bore ranges between 63,65 and 67mm and the stroke acordingly.

The POWER claimed in the brochures is too optimistic : the truth ranges from12HP(200cc)

to 18HP(250ccOHV).

What causes engine blow by?

Blow by is caused when combustion gases get past the piston into the crank case. The cause will be piston, rings, or cylinder wall.

4.3 liter chev engine Starts great cold but starts ruff warm?

How does a turbo affect the operation of a diesel engine and what are the possible problems and effects to the engine when one goes?

the exhaust of the engine propels the turbo pushing the heated exhaust into the charged air cooler in which cools the air about 30 degrees before being thrusted into the intake manifold in which enhances the performance of the engine. If a turbo was to prematurely malfunction or fail due to lack of oil and antifreeze; it will blow apart sending shards of metal into the charged air cooler and maybe as far as the intake manifold causing internal engine damage. the end result will be no power and an engine sucked emty of all it's oil.

This is misleading. The exhaust gases are routed by the turbine side of the turbocharger causing the turbine wheel to rotate at speeds of up to 100,000 rpm. The turbine wheel is attached to the compressor wheel of the turbocharger by a shaft that is generally lubricated by engine oil and can be cooled by the engine oil alone or by engine coolant. Not all turbochargers have engine coolant routed to them. The compressor side of the turbo draws filtered air (not heated exhaust gasses) from the intake system and can pass it through a charge air cooler (CAC) which is an air to air heat transfer device, or possibly an inter cooler which is a air to engine coolant or air to engine oil heat transfer device, or even possibly no cooler at all. A turbo charger on a diesel engine does not operate as a power adder as it does on a gasoline engine. A turbo on a diesel engine works to match air to fuel and with the added air, more fuel can also be injected which is why turbo diesels can have more torque and HP. If the turbo starts to go on a diesel you will see losses in power and fuel economy. You may see oil in the turbine housing which means that a side seal is leaking, on the compressor side this can be a side seal or your air filter is plugged. They can come apart and send metal pieces into the intake stream possibly damaging your engine. The waste gate may malfunction and gate all exhaust gasses around the turbine never allowing it to spool up to speed therefor causing power loss. On newer diesel engines that have variable geometry turbochargers their are even more possibilities that have to do with the actuator (either a sliding nozzle ring (Holset type) or moving vanes (Garrett type)). These are computer controlled and that is another bag of worms. If you are having problems have a pro look at you engine before just replacing parts. Small and inexpensive problems can mimic a bad turbo.
