How do you deactivate the anti theft system for a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE?
Turn on the key to the on possition (dont start the car just to where the car is ready to start) and leave it like that for 12 mins. then turn it off for 2 secs. then on again for 12 mins then off for 2 secs. then on again for 12 mins, off for 2 secs then start the car. it resets the alarm system.
What is the firing order for a 1983 Pontiac Grand Prix 305?
Looking at the motor from the front with the hood open, starting on the right (drivers side) from closest to farthest. The closest cylinder on the right is cylinder 1, then 3, then 5, then 7, all odd numbers.
Same scenario on the passenger side of the car, from closest to farthest standing in front of the car looking in, would be 2, then 4, then 6, then 8.
How do you turn off the change oil light on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix?
I think if you turn the ignition to the on position,(not cranking), and press the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds, it will reset. If it is a "low oil life" indicator in the DIC (driver info center) hold down the reset button for 5 sec to reset oil life. Hope this helps "G" The first answer works for the 1999 model year GT, and may also apply for the 2000 unless you have the trip computer which may have the reset button. Best bet is to check the manual as it has some helpful info. markgp99
What is the button for on the bottom of my 2003 passat rear view mirror?
That switch should be for night mode. If you pull that switch towards you, the mirror should change position, allowing you to still see, but in darker tones. This is usefull to avoid being blinded by cars coming from the back.
Where is the EGR valve on a 1999 grand am gt and how do you install a new one?
Its on the drivers side of the engine on top and to the back. It is really easy to see. Just look fot the part that is a black cylinder with a wiring harness on top. its really easy to change. Just 2 bolts! Just make sure you clean all the old gasket gunk off the metal before you replace it.
What is ETS enhanced Traction system and what does it do?
Traction control systems, on current production vehicles, are typically (but not necessarily) electro-hydraulic systems designed to prevent loss of traction (and therefore the control of the vehicle) when excessive throttle or steering is applied by the driver. Although similar to the Electronic Stability Control systems, the Traction Control systems do not have the same goal as them. The intervention can consist of any, or all, of the following: Retard or suppress the spark to one or more cylinders Reduce fuel supply to one or more cylinders Brake one or more wheels Close the throttle, if the vehicle is fitted with drive by wire throttle. The brake actuator, and the wheel speed sensors, are the same as that used for anti-lock braking systems. Additional information : The Enhanced Traction System is an all-speed engine based traction control system used by General Motors Corporation in many of their models. "From the Service Manual: Enhanced Traction System (ETS) The Enhanced Traction System (ETS) is designed to limit wheel slip during acceleration. This objective is accomplished by cutting fuel to selected cylinders, retarding spark and upshifting the transmission. The EBCM monitors wheel speed slip through the ABS wheel speed sensors and determines the desired torque reduction needed to minimize wheel spin. The torque reduction the EBCM requests may result in a combination of fuel cutoff, spark retard, and upshifting the transmission, depending on the torque reduction required. This request is sent from the EBCM through the serial data link to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM then calculates and employs fuel cutoff and spark retard values to achieve the requested engine torque. If the EBCM determines that the engine torque reduction is not sufficient to minimize wheel spin, it will request a transmission upshift. The ETS will be enabled when the ETS switch is in the ON position (TRAC OFF indicator not illuminated), the engine coolant temperature is within normal operating range and the manifold air temperature is within normal operating range. There are a number of reasons that the ETS will be inhibited or disabled. * INHIBITED: Not all modes of ETS are available. i.e.: no spark retard, but transmission upshifts are still available. * DISABLED: No ETS modes are available Some of the items that can inhibit or disable ETS are: * ETS OFF switch is in the OFF position. (Disabled) * EBCM senses a valid brake switch input. (Disabled) * Park brake is engaged. (Disabled) * Catalytic converter temperature rises above the normal operating range. (Inhibited) * Engine coolant temperature is not within normal operating range. (Inhibited) * Manifold air temperature is not within normal operating range. (Inhibited) * PCM sets a DTC that turns on the CHECK ENGINE lamp. (Inhibited or Disabled) * PCM sets a Failure Record that does NOT turn on the CHECK ENGINE lamp. (Inhibited or Disabled) * EBCM sets a DTC C1221, C1222, C1223, C1224, C1225, C1226, C1227, C1228, C1232, C1233, C1234, and/or C1235 (any wheel speed sensor DTC). (Disabled) Refer to Self-Diagnostics for more information. ETS OFF Switch The ETS OFF switch is a momentary contact switch. The ETS OFF switch enables or disables the enhanced traction system. When the EBCM needs to illuminate the TRAC OFF or LO TRAC indicators, it will transmit a signal (via serial data link) to the Electronic Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and the IPC will illuminate the indicator. The amber TRAC OFF indicator will be illuminated when ETS is disabled or when the driver switches ETS off with the ETS OFF switch. As a bulb check procedure, the EBCM will command the ETS indicator ON for 3 seconds when the EBCM receives power (ignition in ON position). With the ignition in the OFF or START positions (loss of serial data), the IPC will illuminate the ETS OFF indicator lamp. The amber LO TRAC indicator will be illuminated to alert the driver of a low traction situation and to inform the driver the ETS is operating. As a bulb check procedure, the EBCM will command the LO TRAC indicator ON for 3 seconds when the EBCM receives power (ignition in ON or START positions). With the ignition in the OFF position (loss of serial data), the IPC will illuminate the LO TRAC indicator. No. "Changed her mind" isn't any sort of basis to rescind a purchase contract, unless she happens to be a minor.
Where is the flasher unit located on a 1995 mercury grand marquis?
There isn't one. The 1995 Grand Marquis uses a lighting control prossessor. They are very expensive to replace. The part cost me $325.00.
What size are the factory speaker sizes on a 1994 mercury grand marquis?
rear 6"x9" frunt 5"x7" unless u get slim 6x9 and remove plastic sizer in door then 6"x9" all around A 5"x7" will work but 6"x8" is oem for front and 6"x9" for rear.
Check the fuse first. It is in the fuse center under the hood in position 45. If fuse checks good then check the relay in position 19. You can swap it with one of the other relays.
It worked
How do you change the thermostat on a 1988 Mustang GT Cobra?
Follow the upper rad hose from the radiator to the engine and ther it is. When replacing it make sure the spring goes toward the engine.
but that would be iff you had an 1993 cobra. buz that's the first year for the fox body version

Where is the serpentine belt tensioner located on a 1999 Saturn SL1?
The tensioner for the serpentine belt on a 1999 SL-1 is located just below and forward of the power steering pump (which is close to the firewall). You will be able to see it with a good light because it has a square fitting exposed that either a 1/2" or 9/16" wrench will fit on. It is not extremely easy to reach, especially if you have big hands. When you do get a wrench on it, turn it clockwise and the belt will loosen right up. Remember, the tensioner is under spring tension, so ease the wrench off slowly.
What can you do about a 1985 Nissan 200 SX ca20e automatic that cranks but will not start?
if you have good fuel pressure it will eliminate the fuel pump and or fuel pump relay. next i would guess it would be the i.c. modual. "ignition control modual" some people call it a distributor modual. it's inside the distributor. 170.00 at auto zone. goodluck, songwords "ignition control modual" is no longer in production very hard to find now.
check the solenoid, and check the starter then check ignition switch
Check that the red and purple wire connectors on the starter are not loose. Put the car in park or neutral and engage the emerbency brake. Make a quick temporary electrical connection with a metal tool between the red and purple posts and the solenoid will pull in and run the starter. If it does not - the solenoid is bad. If it does spin then you have to track the purple wire back to the transmission switch on an automatic or the clutch switch on a straight shift. From either of those switches it goes on a yellow wire to the igintion switch. The clutch has to be depressed to start or the transmission has to be in neutral or park to start. LOL
AnswerTo me, when you say "it won't start, won't even turn over", you mean that the starter isn't engaging. There are only a few problems that can cause that if you're sure the battery is ok: The starter/solenoid has failed, there is a faulty electrical connection somewhere between the starter and the battery or the keyswitch or neutral lockout switch has failed. What is the difference between a P235 and P225 16 inch tire?
I believe the 235 is 1/2" wider than the 225.
This is easy if done correctly. DANGEROUS if done improperly!
Open radiator cap on radiator to relive pressure in cooling system then tighten back up.
On top of the engine, on the passenger side there is a chrome cap that looks a little like a radiator cap.
Take it off and inspect the gasket. If the gasket is damaged or bad the cap needs replacement.
In the hole revealed there should be Coolant and a little metal bar going across. Pull up on the metal bar and the thermostat will pull right on out.
Shove the new one in and reinstall the cap as long as the coolant level is up to cap level, top up the coolant if you need too. This is an air lock location and is critical to have this area full of coolant to prevent overheating.
Do not use "MOTO RAD" brand thermostats! The "MOTO RAD" product repeatedly (4 times before I bought another brand) became a problem in my 85 GT as the struts that keep it seated collapse every time I rev-ed over 3500 without getting to full operating temp first.

air flow is bad or t.p.s is bad check spark, check fuel
What would cause a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee not to start?
Check the neutral safety switch on the shifter. If you place the shifter into neutral or push the shifter harder into the park position, this may change the switch position to allow it to start. There is a recall on the grand Cherokees for this switch.
