how long does it run before it cuts out? If it runs for about 5 or 10 minutes and won't start again until it is cold it could be the crankshaft position sensor. If it runs for a few minutes, sounds more like a ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor.

The distributor in the Civics has a function of also engaging the coil to create spark. No spark = no fire. Perhaps take a plug out, leave the lead on, hold it with INSULATED pliers against a solid metal part of the engine and get someone to crank the engine over. If the plug sparks - coil and firing switch OK. If no spark, check coil first - remove main + feed lead from coil terminals and check on a meter for power with key on but NO motor cranking. No power = faulty distributor/firing switch.No other ideas sorry! GH

You should have 2 silver cylinders in your fuse panel. About the size of a half dollar. Those are your flashers. You can feel if they are working. Put your turn signal on, and touch them. you will feel something moving inside them if they are working.

Turn the key to the on position but do not start. Press gas pedal to the floor and release 3 times. It will now reset.

4.7 V8 Loosen the hose clamps on the side of the airbox and near the throttle body at the back of the "resonator" where it says 4.7 Powertech. 2 10 mm bolts at the bottom sides of the resonator. pull up and forward. slide out the red tab on the connector at the coil and squeeze the tab and pull the connector away. there are 10 mm nuts keeping each coil pack on the spark plug. remove that and pull upward. the rear plugs are more difficult but possible with a swivel and different size extensions.

4.0L I6 Not my specialty, but I think that there are 4 bolts along the coil pack then it can be lifted from the plugs by prying alternately on either side then push the silde tab outward and by squeezing the connector, pull it off the rail and remove the rail from the vehicle

I don't think the 'gas pedal way' works on this year. The correct way to do it:

Turn key to ON - do not start. Press RESET button in driver's side fuse box. Change Oil light on dash should start flashing. Now Press & Hold RESET button until the Change Oil light turns off & you here 3-chimes.

This method will also work on a 2000 Grand Am

Remove bottom of the license plate cover by slowly pulling outwards. It is glued with a HEAVY 3m tape. The top of the cover is different it has 3 hidden tabs across the top. Slide a flathead screwdriver down from the top of the cover and slowly work each tab out of its slot. There is on the upper left and right and one in the middle.

There can be numerous reasons for this. Start at the basics gas and fire (electric power). Trace these things to the problem.

need more information........... will it crank over? if not does it make a clicking sound? do the lights on the dash light up when the key is on? is it a turbo or non turbo? if it is a turbo watch the factory boost gauge when the key is on does it lay at zero? if not it is leaking caps in the computer or if the boost gauge flickers, there is a lot of great information for your 1st gen dsm at Vfaq.com including mods and all of the bugs these cars have i own 2 talons and a laser vfaq.com helped me a lot plus its free if it is still up and running , also if yours is the 2.0 turbo or none turbo, check to make sure you didn't break a timing belt very costly if you did, but easy to check for, just open the oil fill cap and with safety glasses on have someone crank the car over while you watch for the cams and rockers for movement, if they are not moving you have big costly problems the most common no start problem with the dsm's are poor grounds, faulty ecu caps, maf sensor, fuel pump wiring, clutch safety switch if applies, crank sensor, camshaft sensor at top of valve cover " looks like a distributor with out wires", oil filled spark plug holes due to faulty valve cover gasket, oil soaked plug wires, faulty coil pack very common to find them cracked open and shorted and a pain to get to requires removal of the fuel rail in the 2.0 engines, i believe that with your year you can do the key cycle on off on off on off on and get blink codes from the check engine light that will be very helpful. if not search vfaq.com on how to retrieve the codes with a analog volt meter, hope this helps some but we really need more information about you car is it a 1.8 , 2.0, non turbo, 2.0 turbo,? and more details about what the car is doing eg cranks over wont start? wont crank over etc?

I bought '01 GT rebuilt with no stereo or speakers. Installed Sony xplod all around .I used rear panel holding speakers and existing speaker covers to mount 6x9's.(cut out oval using hack saw) speakers look real good and sound nice. also used same technique to mount 3 way, 5" xplods in front door panels.

You can bypass it by removing the three pin plug from the lock cylinder. This will only be successful if done while the engine is running. It will remain in "code accepted mode" with wires disconnected at this time and no new inputs! This proccess may or may not need to be repeated if battery power is lost.

easy fix. 2 screws 1 wire connector. passanger side look straight up from floor unscrew it remove wire connector pull out and replace it took me about 5 minuits easy access

If your security light is flashing, then you have had what is referred to as a "bad timing cycle" with your Passlok security system. Turn the key to the ON position, and wait until the security light stops flashing - This takes exactly 10 minutes.

If the security light WAS flashing, then the 10-minute trick is only a temporary fix - You will need to have your ignition switch replaced.

If by "ls" you mean "little sedan", then yes, I've been towing a trailer on my echo for 3 years. Officially this is not recommended by Toyota, however it is pre-drilled for mounting a hitch, and the European owners manual says its OK to tow 2000 lbs. I would not exceed that, nor would I exceed 200 lbs tongue weight. It is also advisable that you use a trailer that has its own brakes, otherwise you may notice poor breaking performance and could overheat your brakes as well.

I pullled the jeep on the highway, and once it crawled to 60 MPH, it started to vibrate violently. My mechanic told me that the tires are too aggressive, but they are Toyo Open Country A/T...had a pair on my old vehicle, SAME SIZE, and they never did this.
