do it yourself, a socket set, screwdriver, and pliers are all the tools you need. all it should cost is the price of the radiator, around 120.00, and radiator fluid. dont forget to mix your radiator fluid with distilled water, not tap water.

Drain rad; (I just disconnect lower hose); remove fan assembly;disconnect top and bottom hoses;remove shroud if equipped; disconnect trans cooler lines(here you need a flare nut wrench) remove clips or fasteners that hold rad in place. Not hard, you can do it; the hardest part is the automatic trans cooler lines if you have an automatic. Replace in reverse ;fill with coolant; leave the rad cap off for 20 minutes while engine is running to bleed all air out of sytem and refill to top. Good luck.

First look and see if it has bleeder valves somewhere on the highest part of the cooling system. If so use these to bleed the system. If not, then jack up the front of the vehicle or park it on a steep incline and remove the radiator cap. Make sure the radiator is full. Start the engine with heater set to hot, and watch for air bubbles escaping from the radiator. Keep adding coolant when the radiator gets low. When you see not more bubbles, you are done. Repeat this procedure at least one more time in a couple of days.

Check the overflow (plastic tank) connections. There are two of them. One at the top of the container and the other at the bottom. When draining and refilling anti freeze; I believe this is where it is done. Remove the plastic tank cap and remove the bottom hose of the container. Place the bottom disconnected hose in a container to catch the old antifreeze, flush out the radiator then reconnect and fill thru the container at the top.....note: you can also disconnect the hose at the bottom of the radiator to speed up the process if more convienent? . Use the new 50/50 pre mix antifreeze for longer life and service. note: you do not have to add water to the mix. i.e. take out a gallon or two and refill with the new a-freeze. If you drain out the entire sustem; i.e. engine block, radiator, etc, then it becomes a bit more involved. Run the engine after filling, and leave the cap off the tank. This is to PURGE the air from the system.. Turn on your heater/temp switch; run the engine for 10 minutes or so till the thermostat opens. Keep refilling the tank container up to the cold level.. maybe watch for a week or so. Always fill the plastic container when engine is cold. If all is done correctly, you should feel heat coming from your inside vents after 10 minutes or so.. have fun!

Yes, this sounds like coolant from a cooling system that has been neglected and not flushed and changed regularly. Have the leak fixed, a new thermostat installed, a fresh mix of 50/50 coolant installed, and bleed the system.

Buy a haynes manual which will explain everything to you. You can pick one up for about 20 bucks at a local auto parts store.

You say it's not the radiator, but when coolant in radiators is not flushed out at service intervals, corrosion can occur inside the radiator, diminishing coolant flow. This would present as overheating, especially in the summer months. Radiator flush/cleaing services are sold at Jiffy-Lube, etc, but you can get the same chemical packets at Pep Boys, NAPA, etc. Good Luck Also: check to see if you have water coming in your passenger side. Check the floor for wetness, and if it smells like antifreeze. This is your heater core gone bad Defective water pump, fan, fan clutch if equipped, fan thermal relay.

On the radiator, bottom, passenger side, facing the firewall. Turn it counter clockwise to release.

Sounds like someone mixed the new 'dexcool' and the traditional green coolant together. I would IMMEDIATELY take your vehicle to a reputable shop and have the cooling system completely flushed. They will ensure to install the correct coolant type.

It is on the bottom of the radiator; they are plastic and the same color as the rad so they blend in to the radiator. You may need to remove the fan shroud to get at it. Sometime it's easier to remove one end off of the lower radiator hose to drain the system.

On a cold engine remove the rad cap and loosen any bleeder screws if any.When the upper hose starts getting hot the level will probably go down.Make sure your heater is on as well.Add fluid as needed.Tighten up the bleeders if not already done.

chances are you have a blown head gasket.....that's about the only thing that can cause an oil type substance in your radiator......check your oil fill cap and area where the cap goes for a white foamy or creamy substance, if this is there that's your trouble

There usually is a drain petcock on the bottom middle or end, however the are now made of plastic and if they break it is a hassel to find a new one and then you may have to pull the radiator to get at it so I usually pull a end off the lower hose.

look with a light to see where coolant is leaking from. whatever part is found to be leaking should be changed. If the car may not be worth a proper repair you can try a cooling system sealer to see if it might stop the leak
