How do you test for spark on a 2000 Kia Sportage?
remove spark plug from engine leave the wire connected and try to start it id the spark plug sparks your good
try checking the alternator
try charging the battery with a car battery charger or getting a jump from a friend's car to get it to turn over
Two things to check. One, any trouble codes in the systems. Two,any aftermarket electronics wired into the vehicle. Look for remote starts or alarms under the dash .
I have a 93 Suzuki Sidekick and it wont start either. The spark seams to come and go. Also the spark seems like it is late? I have replace the timing belt the Coil and the ignitor on top of the coil as well. The compression also is fine.
did you check for spark at the coil when it goes?
does test fuel start car.
is car flooding? look at plugs, wet and stinks of fuel?
bad fuel
bad cam timing.
bad front of crank key way , sheered or mangled thowing timing way off
flooding, try WOT cranking to clear fold , WOT shuts off all FUEL on kicks.
miss timed Distributor.
horrible bad need of a tune up.
The Holden HK is built in Australia. The firing order is 1, 2, 7, 8, 4, 5, 6, 3. The number 1 cylinder is in the front on the right as you face the vehicle.
Fuel, or spark. Most likely fuel. Now, is it the pump, or the filter.
This sounds like it is your EGR valve or your IAC sensor ( Idle Air Control Valve). When you car gets hot your EGR valve closes to keep the water flowing so the car will not over heat and relieve excess gas. But when the EGR is bad it will stay open allowing to much fuel and air into the system causing you not to be able to start it when vehicle is warm. The IAC control the regulation of the EGR if this fails it will not send information to the EGR telling it to open or close therefore causing your EGR to stay open and then your vehicle will not fire when hot.
I have no idea. Since your answer hasn't been answered yet, and you may have to wait a long time to GET it answered, I'm going to give you my guesses, and flag it as needing more answers. My comments may give you some useful clues. Metal expands when heated, more so than most other materials. If your car won't start when it is hot, then you have some sort of fuel problem (most likely), OR your engine components are preventing some crucial gadget from moving in a way that it can when it is cold, (tricky, I can't think of what that might be, as your car evidently RUNS when it is hot, just won't start), OR the computer running the diagnostics has pooped out in an unusual fashion, and is thinking that conditions are such that it is SAFER not to start the car. It could also be something really simple, that a real mechanic would be able to instantly be able to figure out. Good luck!
several could bes. If there is no action, the engine does not turn, the rod running from the key switch to the ignition switch on the column could be broken, or the ignition switch itself could haved malfunctioned. If there has be work immediately privious to the problem, check for loose connection, expecially on the ignition switch.
This MAY be caused by the fact the cam shaft was binding from no oil and put added stress on the timing belt causing it to break. The camshaft will be first to starve from a LOW OIL or NO OIL state. Hope this was helpful.
don't turn it over anymore, you could have already damaged the valves. these are interference engines(pistons can hit the valves if its out of timing). i suggest doing a compression test, but first you have to get it back in time. if you 0 on any cylinder or its extremely low, you most likely have valve damage. i have experienced this recently it sux, cost of doing it yourself ranges from 100 to 700 dollars depending on what needs to be done. mitsubishi will charge 475 just for timing belt. if you damaged the engine, you're in a world of hurt. About $1000. Been there, done that
Your car does not start at all so what causes no spark in a 1995 Dodge Stratus?
This could be a problem with your cam sensor, or crank sensor.
ignition modual
If the starter doesn't spin when connected directly to 12 volts, replace it. You may have a bad srter relay which is on the firewall of many dodges; follow the battery cable to find it. When you find it, turn the key to ON then short across it with a piece of wire ; if it does start replace the relay.
What would cause a Rover 75 to lose voltage to injectors resulting in nonstarting?
If there is no 12v positive feed then its either a fuse or wiring, the computer works the injectors by switching the earth so if the pos is there but no injection then it might be ECU. However the ECU is signaled by the crank position sensor. Easy was to diagnose this is if there is no spark or negative switch from ECU.The common denominator is the crank sensor located down the back of the block near the bell housing. There are so many silly things that can cause this, i would NOT run out and but a computer. Check injection fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay for starters. Hope this helps. Post more questions and il try and help.
My '91 Capri had the same problem. It turned out to be a problem with something I had never heard of before. It's called a stator. I believe it is located in or near the distributor, and replacement fixed my problem.
I thinks it because the key has a chip that has to be programned.
Jump it, it will either start or it wont
That engine needs fuel, compression and spark to start and run. You are missing one of those.
Does 2002 Isuzu Rodeo need a chip key?
Yes, it has a chip. You can take the key to the Walmart auto section where they make keys. They can test it and tell you if it for sure has a chip but I am 99% sure it does.
My 1988 Mazda 323 won't start it will make noise like it want to starts but won't starts?
If the starter motor is turning over, we must also assume that the engine is also turning over. Have someone else watch the crankshaft pulley to see if it turns while cranking the engine over to confirm that the starter is engaging with the ring gear. There are three possibilities: no spark to the spark plugs; no fuel pressure to the injectors; broken camshaft timing belt. Each of these things you will need to troubleshoot to determine how to fix. No spark: remove the high tension ignition lead from the distributor cap and have a second person hold it near a metal ground (such as the air cleaner box). If a spark jumps from the lead to ground, ignition is okay. If not, you will need to replace some or all of your ignition parts (distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, ignition leads, etc). When you have the distributor cap off, check for moisture, this will sometimes swamp out the spark. To test fuel pressure you will need a test gauge, 0-100 PSI (700 kPa), some gas line hose and hose clamps. Remove the fuel line from the top of the filter (located on the firewall) and attach the test gauge with hose and clamps. Turn the ignition switch on but do not crank the engine; you should see 40 PSI (280 kPa). If no, you either have a plugged fuel filter or failed fuel pump. The fuel filter is easy to replace, the pump is not. To test the camshaft timing belt, you will need to remove the plastic belt cover at the
Yes, the clicking is the starter, but there's probably nothing wrong with it. Your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the starter motor (draws lots of current), but still has enough to turn on the lights and accessories. Try jump starting it or trickle charge the battery.
How do you Bypass vy commodore immobiliser?
The immobilizer on a VT Commodore must be bypassed before you can tow it. To bypass the immobilizer, remove the body control module.
