We have a 95 Camry and had the same problem when changing our starter, and had to disconnect the battery cables. Check on the floorboard underneath the emergency brake pedal, there may be a small toggle swith. Try flipping the switch, and it should start. The Toyota dealership told us it was what we had to do to ours, and it started afterwards. good luck!
Without seeing your car... possibly burnt off the serpentine fan belt due to a seized alternator that was not charging. See if the alternator spins over by hand; that could be the problem. I you. Mark
You need to most likely replace your fuel pump wiring harness. It is located in the gas tank connected to the fuel pump. While your there you should also replace the pump and sock. Note the configuration of the old wiring harness when you pull it out because the new one you get is a generic one made to fit different cars. You WILL have to rewire the new harness to make it work.
Why would a 1998 Buick not start when you turn the key?
Any of the following.... Bad battery, bad starter, bad ignition switch, bad neutral safety switch
The thing that causes the PASSLOCK to activate is the chip, if you will. If the chip is bad, ar is unrecognizable to the system, the PASSLOCK will activate. Take it to a dealer asap.
You can bypass the passlock by accessing the ignition, and cutting the yellow wire of a small 3 piece wire set that's on top of the ignition.
cut the yellow small wire from ign. switch in the column up by the switch. this is the passlock wire.
WEIRD QUESTIONS HERE! YOUR IGNITION SWITCH MAY BE BAD. THE STARTER RELAY MAY BE BAD. YOU GOT IT CRANKED UP HOW-SOME-EVER, BUT TO CUT IT OFF YOU HAVE CUT THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF. WOODY'S RULES
Is the starter under the hood 1997 GMC Sonoma ext cab?
The starter is definitely under the hood. Try getting under and looking where the engine is bolted to the transmission. It will be right there.
How do you program the gm 15008009?
1. Close all doors
2. Insert key into ignition
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver's door panel, continue to hold down
until instructed to release in step 9.
4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in a fairly rapid succession.
5. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
6. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
7. Turn the ignition to the ON position (as far as you can go without starting the engine.)
8. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
9. Release the power UNLOCK button on the door panel. The vehicle should respond by
door locks locking and unlocking automatically. (If locks do not cycle after you let go,
not before you let go of the unlock button, then the vehicle has not entered programming
mode and you must start procedure over. Remove key from ignition, open drivers door
and return to step 1 ). If the locks do cycle automatically then proceed to step 10.
10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote until the doors lock and
unlock. This may take up to 30 seconds.
11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional remote. (Including any existing remotes).
12. Turn the ignition to the ON position to exit the programming mode.
13. Test remote(s).
Try either taking the key part off or apart or try using a little bit of butter or tooth paste to loosen and be able to tke it out.
Nothing will break, but you will have a direct short to ground, and if you're lucky, the battery will just discharge without exploding....
First of all,I Cannot see how the starter pinion gear will mesh with the flywheel at all if the starter motor was to turn in reverse, and second i think the solenoid contacts would break before anything would happen.....
When i turn the key the engine sputters but the car does start what is the problem?
there is actually no problem. it sputters because the engine has to start up and it may be the way you place the key inside the ignition. so don't worry because it isn't a big problem

How do you help car start in sub zero cold?
Install a block heater and keep it plugged in at night. (most helpful)
Make sure the vehicle is tuned up and that the engine compression is up to specifications.
Have the electrical system checked to verify that the battery is fully charged.
Periodically (every few fill-ups) add a can of fuel line de-icer.

What can it be if car want start but all the lights come on alternator or starter.?
The alternator generates electricity, so it's not part of the starting system, which uses the stored electricity in the battery. If the lights work, the battery must be pretty well ok. The starter might be stuck, or it might have failed.
Where is the neutral safety switch on 1993 240sx you can't start your car it's not relay?
it is bolted to the transmission case, it controls park, reverse, nuetural, drive, second, first, and if it isn't in park or neutral your car wont start, so make sure it is connected to your shifter. if that doesnt correct the problem the it could be the pump or torque converter bolts have fell out tk
This has just happened to me. I called a local ford dealer, and much to my suprise, he did help out over the phone. He had explained that a fried battery will case the relays to go haywire. I purchased a new battery, installed it, and walla....my van started. Hope this helps, good luck. this happend to me too, but it turned out to be the wire from negative on the battery to the ground snapped and it would make contact with the frame causing the flickering and clicking noise under the dash, hope that helps too
im having the same problem with my 1983 fifth avenue. i figured out so far that i think its the ignition switch or the lock cylinder does the lights come on on the dash when you turn the key over
It COULD be a weak fuel pump. I have had a similar situation. In my case all I had to do was turn the ignition to RUN not start and let it sit until the pump stops humming. After the pump stops humming, then start the vehicle.
My 2000 Chrysler won't start after replacing the transmission?
Check and make sure all the plugs going to the ECU and PCM are plugged in.
Are fuel pumps supposed to come on everytime you turn on the key?
