How do you drain and fill radiator coolant in jeep liberty sport?
The radiator drain plug should be located on the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side. Open that, let the old coolant flow into a drain pan, replace the drain plug once the coolant is out and the radiator is flushed, then fill it up through the radiator cap.
How do you repair a plastic radiator?
You don't, you just replace them.
Answerthey're not really made to be "repaired", easier to just replace it. it would be hard to "fix-it" but i would suggest a good epoxy to try and seal it, it's just hard to get it to stick to it.you can weld the plastic with special tool that is like a soldering iron.you need these special rods nylon to be exact. the iron cost 60$. it's easy to say just replace it but mine cost $240 not to mention the labor ?
AnswerI repaired an outlet in a plastic radiator with a galvanized pipe nipple, available at any home improvement store. It's just a real short piece of pipe.First I reamed out the hole where the outlet fitting was so a 1/2" pipe nipple would go in. Then I screwed the nipple in. I used the "plastic welder" the answerer above me described to put a bead of nylon around the nipple to protect from leaks, and then I fiberglassed the whole bottom of the radiator for good measure. This lasted for about nine months.
Would I do it again? Not really; even though I put a lot of anti-leaking stuff on the repair--the bead, the fiberglass--the radiator always leaked a little from the area of the repair.
Answer:
In many cases they aren't worth repairing. Pipe nipples, plastic weld, sealer, epoxy, all can be purchased, the work can be done, but why? Cheap replacements are available, for less than $50 including shipping in many cases, so who wants to spend hours doing some glue repair that *might* hold long enough for the radiator to start leaking somewhere else, when the whole thing can be thrown out and replaced with a new one in an hour or two?
What would cause a 1992 Dodge Spirit to gradually overheat after only a few minutes of driving?
It can be many things. As the car is 14 years old, you need to just perform a complete cooling system maintenance. With the heater in the hot position, drain the system and flush out all the old coolant. Replace the thermostat, and pour in a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Bleed all air from the system. Be sure and check the pump & cooling fan operation, and clean all debris from the outside of the radiator. If you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak, you possibly may have a blown head gasket. White sweet smelling smoke at the tailpipe, air bubbles at the radiator opening, or a milky substance on the underside of the oil fill cap is a sign of a blown head gasket. Stop driving the car until you have this fixed or you will do serious damage.
What can you do if the drain plug won't go back on radiator?
Remove radiator and bring to a radiator repair shop for new installation
Can you show a picture of the radiator cap and where it is located on a 2002 Chevrolet Impala?
It is located on the coolant recovery jug.
***** See Engine Compartment Overview on page 6-10 of your "Owner's Manual", under Section 6: Service and Appearance Care - Checking Things Under the Hood.....
Overheated engines often cause the head to warp, resulting in a blown headgasket. If the engine blows out the coolant, you have a bad head gasket/warped head. If you're getting coolant in the oil, same thing. If one or two cylinders have very low compression, same thing.
It's not news that anyone wants to hear, but I'd check that first since it's a very common condition after an engine overheats.
How do you replace a radiator on a 2001 beetle?
Unbolt the radiatorfrom its mount. Pull up and out If only it was that easy. I bought one from Radiators.com. It was the same brand as original and Much cheeper than the dealer. First Get a Hanes or Chilton Manual for the details As I recall it goes about like this; 1 Jack up the front end and put it on Jack stands. Leave plenty of room in front of the car. 2 Take off the front wheels 3 Take off the inner fender liners and splash pan. 4 Take out the headlights. This ain't easy if there is sand or dirt in the mechanism. 5 Take all of the screws and bolts out of the fenders and front bumper 6 Take off the front Clip (Fenders, nose and bumper cover) Now you can see the radiator New Beatles are cute but High Maintenance Don't ask about the broken plactic, sticky interior paint, fall apart door pads, wrong window switch from dealer, Failed auto trans at 40K( free but they broke the clip on the shift cable and said it was my cost $150), AC compressor failed $2000 ... sold car
They shouldn't charge any more than $120 for labor. Request to see where they are getting the labor hours from.
hope this helps
How do you add coolant in the Porsche 944 radiator?
that kinda yellowish plastic tank with a cap on it ? under the hood on the drivers side?
How do you pressure check a car radiator for leaks?
You attach a pressure test kit to where the radiator cap goes, and pressurize the system. If it holds pressure, it's good.
How do you bleed air from the cooling system of a 1996 Chevy S10?
It is self bleeding, if you are having trouble with air in the cooling system, it may be as simple as replacing the radiator cap or as bad as a bad head gasket and or a cracked head.
Do you need a thermostat in a car?
A Thermostat enables the engine coolant to heat up quicker. One of the advantages is that the vehicle heater will get hotter faster. When the temprature of the engine reaches about 92 degrees f the thermostat opens to allow the engine coolant to circulate to the radiator which maintains a safe temprature for the engine to run at. A vehicle will run without a thermostat fitted. But it is not recommended on some engines as it may cause a hot spot which could cause the head gasket to blow. A typical example being the Leyland O series engines from the 1970s
The radiator coolant could be going through the engine and out the exhaust. The first thing to check would be to look for steam coming out the tail pipe. Warm the engine thoroughly (drive it 20 minutes or so), then park it, leaving it run. Check the tail pipe(s) (exhaust) for any sign of stream. Finding steam coming out the exhaust, along with a reducing quantity of fluid in the radiator or overflow bottle, might mean you have a leak between the cooling system and the combustion area of the engine. As this leak gets worse you will notice the engine running more and more rough, needing a tuneup, or not wanting to run at all. This kind of a leak can usually either be found as a cracked engine block, a cracked head, a warped head, a blown head gasket or a combination of the above. These are listed in order of highest repair cost to lowest. Many times these symptoms show up after the engine has overheated, since this overheating can cause warps, cracks and blown gaskets. To further investigate, a repairman will usually do a compression check next. A low compression on one or more cylinders will point to the problem areas. The repairman may also pull some spark plugs and compare the type of wear among them. If the coolant leak is near one or two of the spark plugs it will show signs of discoloration and point to the problem area. After confirmation of any of the above, it's probably time to disassemble the engine to some degree and make repairs. Typically, dependant on the type of engine or vehicle, the repairs can cost upward of $300.00 to maybe more $1500.00. If the engine block is cracked, you can spend a lot more for a replacement engine.
Where do you find the fan relays on a 1997 Cadillac DeVille?
the cooling fan relays are behind and below the center of the radiator
Your heater hoses are failing and they are located at the rear of the engine. They go through the fire wall into the heater core which is what the air blows through to heat the cab.
What would cause a 1996 Bick regal to overheat The radiator fan does not turn on?
Check the radiator fans to see that they spin freely and they are not stuck. Assuming this and the electrical wiring is good, there is a thermal switch or sensor and a relay that turns on the radiator fan motors.
A quick check to of the fan motors can be performed by starting the car and engaging the air conditioning. This should turn on the fans.
If not, the relay itself is likely bad. These take a beating for use and heavy current demand. The relay is probably in the fuse box.
If the fans run, then a coolant sensor or switch or its wiring could be at fault.
I have not worked on a 96 Regal but GM vehicles are similar across years in how the cooling system is loop monitored and controlled and one of the loops is not dependent upon the car's computer to operate. The 'dumb' loop has sensors or switches to failsafe in high temperatures, but they all depend on the relay to energize the fans.
Focus your suspicion on this loop.

How do you Flush and fill a radiator in a 97 Pontiac grand am?
drain on bottom of radiator, only flush if it's real dirty and brown, otherwise just drain and refill... also in the book ...everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available for FREE to make copies of...read up and repair like a PRO! Dave :)
is it shut off or idleing? You may have a blowed head gasket and water is running into the oil, check the oil. If that is not it than make sure your floor boards arent wet because your heater coil might be leaking. The radiator might be busted and just leaking out ALSO: The thermostat maybe installed backwards! Dont forget to check the radiator drain, people forget Blown head gaskets will show signs in three possible ways, depending upon where the gasket has deteriorated. 1) Blow "white smoke" from the exhaust, Actually steam because the gasket is blown pushing coolant into the combustion chamber. 2) milky, foamy oil. Gasket is allowing coolant into the block outside the combustion chamber 3) Losing coolant as soon as it is added. The gasket is blown where pressure from the combustion chamber is entering a coolant port in the engine block. Chrysler mini vans were famous for this one. Once again, when in doubt, bring it to a mechanic that you feel you can trust, there are good ones out there that get business by just doing a good job. It could be something simple. Good luck There is a head bleeder pipe that goes from where the tophose from the radiator goes. It goes from there to the filler tank you have to take small hose off and see if its gloged The ending is a conical small hole. If when you refill the coolingfluid the cilinderhead will not be correctly filled.
Answer My 99 cavalier 2.2 recently had a leaky radiator water inlet pipe (the big black pipe that runs parallel to your valve cover). Check where it bends and goes into the block (providing your motor is set up this way as I have seen some that are not).
How do you change a radiator on a 1989 Camry?
Real easy if it's a 4-cyl. Drain the fluid, remove the hoses, take out the radiator fans, unbolt the little puppy and lift it out. Not sure - go to a junk yard and practice on one in the yard. It's a great place to learn how to do a lot of jobs...
Adding pepper to the cooling system can work at times. It is in no way a sure fire way of stopping a leak, and is definitely not a long term fix or even a good idea.
