What causes front end of car to shudder or vibrate when you apply the brakes?
This is normally a sign of warped rotors. It will require that the rotors be remove and turned on a lathe in a machine shop. Not very expensive to have them turned. You will also need to have the pads replaced. Warped rotors are caused by excessive heat or the lug nuts being over-tightened. Make sure the lug nuts are torqued to factory specifications. rotors are warped- either from overheating(braking too hard) or overtightening the lug nuts - should use hand wrench and torque to your vehicle's specs -never use air tools to tighten lug nuts.
The most common source of vibration in any car is the wheels being out of balance followed by bent rims and tires in poor condition. Have the wheels balanced an the condition of the tires and rims checked while they are on the balancer. As far as squeaking noises, if they are still there when the vibration is gone they will need to be checked depending on where the noise seems to be coming from and the conditions that they are present. First a visual inspection of the suspension, steering and drive-train.

What problem is there with exhaust smell and shaking engine?
First of All Get a Engine Diagostics and see if there are any problems and fix them from a Prof Machenic If your car has not been tuned then change the spark plug, spark plug wires, fuel line filter. If this does not solve then change the distributer cap. That should solve the basic prolems of Shaking engine. Also check for the engine oil levels from time to time for the exhaust smell. (if car is old do put the engine oil treatmet like MOTOR UP, and other...which are available in the market)
i am not sure if this is the right answer but sounds like u need to check the shims maybe some came loose? Check wheel bearings.
my 89 did the same thing.. and my suspension was just fine. it was cause my steering was old and my tires were out of balance. after i bought new tires and balanced them it never did it again.
fuel filter
What kind of noise would an alternator going bad make?
Bad bearings in an alternator would make a grinding or roaring sound. If a Diode Plate is failing you might hear a buzzing sound in the radio that changes pitch with the speed of the engine.
Could be many things. Amoung them, low engine idle, one or more vaccum leaks, engine missing.
Why is your 1996 Toyota Camry shaking when you stop?
If you notice shaking as you apply the brakes this is generally caused by warped brake rotors. This happens as the brake rotors wears. Sometimes people take shortcuts by just replacing the brake pads and machining the rotors but as the rotor becomes thinner it cannot absorb the high heat that they operate in. Most likely this is the problem.
have you check your ball joins.
Why would your 1989 Crown Victoria 5.8 V8 sometimes jerk at weird speeds?
I would suggest checking or replacing the catalytic converters. Even with single exhaust, you should still have two -- one from each side of the engine. Anyway, when they get old or bad or clogged, they car becomes "constipated" and it can't expel the exhaust and the whole car jerks. Depending on how badly clogged the converters are, the amount of jerking will vary. You will also notice the jerking is intermittent -- there will be more jerking at higher RPMs because there will be more exhaust trying to escape due to higher output. Replace both catalytic converters and the problem should be gone. This happened to me, so I'm speaking from experience. **NOTE: if you're nearing the time to renew your car's registration, take it to have the emissions inspected before you replace the converters. Since your car is basically contipated, your emissions output will be low since most of the waste is being kept in the engine and exhaust system rather than being expelled out the tail pipe into the air. You might also have the transmission checked... I have a '94 and it will downshift a lot of times for no apparent reason whatsoever. I know it's the transmission I'm not certain exactly what the problem is though. My trany shuttered on my 1995 vicky, and then my check engine light came on. When it was put on a computer, it showed a "bad shift solonoid". It is mounted on the outside of the transmission. I would have that checked for any shifting problems. My P71 did this and I had the MAF Sensor replaced. It fixed the problem right away. My jerking problem had nothing to do with the tranny. Mine would jerk and sometimes felt like it down shifted. I would go with the MAF Sensor.
first check your balance on you tires local tire shop will usually balance new tires for free or if you have a reciept from where you purchased the tires some tire shops will balance for free if you bought the tires there if tires are not balanced it causes the vechicle to shake at about 30 mph if that's not it i don't know ask the shop who fixed your car to check it out they make sure it was fixed properly and possibly give you a recommendation as to what is causing the shaking if it isn't somthing they did wrong

Look at the FAQ's for rough idle and engine shaking problems for your specific symptoms. The gas cap hisses because the air is coming out (it was trapped under pressure). That is nrmal when your tank is less than half full (which would also be the time you take the cap off to put gas in. Hope this helps!
If you have already had an alingment and your tires balanced. then you might want to take off your wheels and check for big knots on the inner part of your rim. Othere than that take it to a \n alingment shop and ask them the same question. Sincerely willie One reason might be cheap wheels. if they are only balanced from the inner and not both inner and outer, you will get a vibration like you are describing. Other reason is if the wheels are bent, they must be put on a balance machine, and check for wabble. another longshot would be if the wheel bearings or hubs are worn or even a bent axle. Good luck.
Why would a 1988 Chevy Blazer S10 with a 43 engine 6 cylinder shake?
it might be a broken motor mount. there are two mounts located towards the bottom of the left and right side of the engine make sure you are getting spark to all cylinders. (check for Misfiring)
When you put your foot on the brake the brake pedal pulsates and the steering wheel shakes?
you need to have your brake rotors turned or even replaced, this is a 200.00 fix or so
What would cause a vibration or shimmy in the front of a 2002 Chevy Malibu?
Tire(s) out of balance/old, bent wheel, etc.
How do you replace a bad tie rod on a 1998 F-150?
By experience, unscrew the nut on the center drag link until off, you may want to mark on the center link where the nut was (if not I hope you have access to an alignment rack); secondly remove cotter pin from top of bolt on the head of the tie rod and remove nut. With the next part you may want use a pry bar or hammer to get the head out. I caution using the hammer as the bolt head may mushroom an not allow you to remove the bolt.
How do you replace the ignition coils on a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE?
Easy. The front three coils are under the plastic 3000 badge on the front cylinder head. There is a single 10mm bolt holding in each coil. Once the bolt is removed disconect the wire attached to the the top, and the coil comes out. The rear coils are not under anything, but are harder to get to with all the other stuff back there. Removal is the same as the front three.
Where are the spark plugs located on the 1999 Mazda Protege DX?
if you cant find the spark plugs then you probably shouldn't be working on your car
if you cant answer the question maybe you shouldnt leave answers like these
Why would the whole car shake when going 60 to 70 MPH?
Hey Nadine==It could very well be a miss in the engine. A good tune up with a compression check may find the answer. An out of round tire can balance good but run rough on the road. Goodluckjoe
Why would the front end shake badly when you put on the brakes?
Most likely you have warped rotors. If the rotors are warped, when you apply the brakes, the brake pads/caliper will be forced to follow the rotor and the vibriation will transmit via the steering wheel and brake pedal.
AnsweIf the rotors are warped you will feel a pulsation or a bumping in the pedal when you step on it. It may also be a loose brake caliper. If you are getting a bad shaking I would definitely check the suspension components and the steering linkage for problems. What would cause the tires to wobble at medium to high speeds?
Alignment will not cause a noise...directly. It may cause tires to wear irregularly to cause a noise. Run your hand over the tire tread. is it smooth?Maybe the rear wheels were overtightened and the bearings are shot.
If they wobble and your steering wheel moves back and forth, it is usually a bad tire (s).
If you are getting a noise as you describe it is usually uneven chopped wear of tires. Or bad bearing(S).
Rotating them every 5-8000 miles should keep them wearing evenly if the alignment is good. If they alignment is out, they may wear abnormal regardless of rotation and may make noise. Rotating abnormally worn tires will shift the noise if they are the cause.
Balancing a good tire keeps the tire from vibrating at various speeds.
Bearings in most cases would need replacement.Your description makes me think tires and or bearings.
Or you could just check to see if there is anything inside the rim like gravel or dirt, or in North Dakota, snow. i know this for sure only happens when driving faster like on a highway, it happens to me quite a bit and the shaking is caused because there is more dirt stuck on one side of the rim than the other and causes your tire to become unbalanced
What causes a car to shake when stopped at lights?
It happened to my Mazda/98, After i changed the engine mount, No more shaking.
I had bad shaking when idling in park or at a stop light. I replaced the timing belt and got the cams retimed. After that it was good.
