Chevy 2005 cobalt keeps blowing fuse on power windows?
my Chevy cobalt 2005 keeps blowing the fuse everytime i put my windows up or down i had the door wireing replace a new window motor replaced new switch and it still blows the fuse what can the problem be
Take it back to the dealer.
It's probably the motor but needs to be checked out. I am certainly not an expert on these things but... I own a 2000 Lasabre that has been a good car but....the windows go bad. Both back windows stopped working and fell down. Luckily I had a neighbor who was good at fixing such things so we removed the door panel off and found that the cable the moved the window up and down was tracking poorly fraying it to the point it was off the track and broken. Rather than buy parts, and since it was the rear windows which came down only part way we reround the cable, put it back in, put the window in the up position and disconnected the motor. All has been fine since. Yesterday the passenger side front window dropped and won't come up...so today I am trying to get the door panel off and see if the cable on this window has also gone bad. Getting the panel off has been a challange. My take on the Lasabre windows....they are crap....the car has been great but it's automatic windows leave something to be desired. This problem is caused by a broken "up" cable on the window regulator. This regulator operates the window using a cable to pull the window up and a different cable to pull the window down. It is usually the "up" cable that breaks. This problem is REALLY bad in 2000 lesabre cars. The designer of the window regulator has the "up" cable attached to nothing more than a plastic piece. This piece will break sometimes with little or no good reason. (ie bump in the road, raising the window, etc.) Buick will not claim any responsibility for these regulators unless REALLY pressed but the fact is that they had/have a bunch of these go bad. R.Hand

How do you take the panel off the door of a 1985 Cadillac coupedeville to replace the window motor?
can someone please tell how to get the door panel off to replace the window motor to my cadillac coupe deville
How do you replace a power window motor on a 1990 corvette?
door panel will have to come off and more than likely the motor has rivets holding it in place so the complete window regulator will have to be taken out of the door and the rivets drilled out to get the motor off and then reinstall new motor with bolts and nuts.
I'm having the same reason the thing except it doesn't work at all that is clicking I believe its called the relay basically its a square piece connected to some wires easy to take off so I'm going to the junk yard to find one and see if this fixes the problem. if it doesn't fix the problemt then it has to be the current is getting to the window motor. the panel is easy to take off only two screws are underneath plastic caps which took a second to fine the rest of the screws you can spot them easily.
Is the electric window problem common on Town and Countries?
Electric window problems are quite common on the rear "quarter windows" on the older MOPAR (T&C, Voyager, etc) vans. All manufacturers electric windows are known to fail occasionally, but these were common.
How do you fix a power window door on a 1994 Crown Victoria?
If there's a clicking or grinding noise it usually means the power window regulator is stripped. That's a common problem on CROWN VICS.
First remove the door panel and splash guard and look inside the door. In the middle there should be (on a 1994) a long piece that runs from top to bottom in the middle of the door, that is what the glass rides on. Along with it is a cable that pulls the glass up and down in the channel. The regulator is a small circular piece attached to the p/w motor. If the motor is turning when the switch is pressed it and you can see the cable, but windows not moving, it's time for a new regulator. The regulator is a non-serviceable piece which means you need to replace it. Only the motor can be re-used.
Try looking on eBay they are reasonably priced and i've had to replace two on my 94 c.v.p.i. The good news is that newer regulators seem to be designed better, so it is less likely to break.
It's a bit detailed to describe here, but it involves removing door panel and door speaker, peeling back splash guard, drilling or grinding out factory rivets that hold the regulator in place and the rivets or screws that hold the glass to the regulator. Then replacing with new regulator attaching to p/w motor and riveting or screwing new regulator and old glass back in. It sounds harder then it is.buying a Haynes service manual will help some, but I find the photos to be misleading usually. It's still good to have for specs.
Improvement to the above.... I just came in from fixing my 94 CV power window. I am a financial advisor, not a mechanic. I have to completely disagree with the above information. This is a VERY serviceable part. It is almost easy. Don't buy the part until you try this!
If you don't get window movement, but you can hear the motor "spinning" when you trigger the switch, it is about an $8 fix. Pull the door panel off after unscrewing the screws. Pop the switch plate up and feed it through the door handle. Undo the courtesy light if you have one and remove the door panel. Peel the plastic vapor barrier back, and locate the three torx screws holding the window motor in place. (Mine are "brassy" in color) (Make sure the window is all the way up or you will have access troubles. Pull it by hand if you it isn't already up) Unscrew the motor and it will come loose inside the door. There is the motor assembly attached by a driveshaft to the window pulley assembly. BE REALLY CAREFUL not to pop the pulley apart as you pull the motor away! The cables can come apart. I used a screwdriver and then a wide-open crescent wrench to slowly pry the assemblies apart.
Leaving the cable assembly stuff in the door, find the modular power plug under the vapor barrier for the motor, unplug it, and remove the motor.
There is one screw that holds the gear cover on. Remove this and gently pull the cover up the shaft (the metal is bendable). You will find inside a plastic gear with what used to be three nylon cylinders that interact with the metal drive shaft ( this is kinda like your washing machine if you have ever repaired the drive on one). I had to clean out the hundreds of pieces of the old cylinders along with the grease from the drive shaft. The replacement part is under $10 at Carquest. My local shop carries them. (I have done two windows now on my CV.)
After cleaning the fragments of the old cylinders off the parts, replace the cylinders with the new ones, put the metal shaft in, and replace the cover. (Some new grease on the drive is admirable, but I don't think it is crucial.) Take the assembly to the door and reconnect the modular plug before reinstalling it. Try the switch a couple of times to hear that new sweet smooth sound.
To replace, I found it easiest to pull the motor in, set the screws in to hold it, and then gently work the pulley back onto the drive shaft. The same screws that hold the motor also attach the pulley, so it isn't hard to get them aligned. This second door I repaired was tricky and I actually had to carefully trigger the motor back and forth with the window switch to get the "teeth" of the drive to line up with the cable pulley. Once it is in properly you can simply tighten the screws and then put the door together.
There is a great Google film on this if you can find it online. Very helpful for us visual learners.
By the way, this repair is IF you hear motor noise with your switch. No noise is a bad motor or a bad switch. A quick check with a meter can answer either question.
1998 Saturn sl2 electric window on passenger side will not roll up?
I have this same Saturn. The driver's side rear window failed several years ago. The passenger's side failed tonight. Without taking the door apart to look it SEEMS like the window has simply separated from the track. Perhaps there is a pin or clip that comes of?? If you help the window up manually and roll it up at the same time you can get it to lock into the up possition. I am hoping someone else will have a more complete answer.
If the fuses seem good why would the power windows and locks not work on a 1997 Mercury Villager?
Cause the window motor is out
How can you get your tailgate window up on your 1995 bronco?
Use the circular key, once inserted into tailgate, turn key to the left of right to make window go up and down..
Actually, the cables for the power window run around inside the door on plastic guides and they sometimes break. I had to take mine to the dealer as they cannot be repaired and the power window system is one unit.
I've had three of these go bad on my 2001 Durango. Its never the motor and always the plastic guides or regulator as said above. I have found one dealer that did sell just the regulator without the motor but for most its all or nothing $300. If Dodge does it your looking at $600. They sell the entire regulator/motor assembly at discount auto $97.00 or pep boys $120.00 and the parts fit exactly. If you've never done this its probably best to go buy the part first so you can see what it looks like because you cant see it even with the door panel off. This will also give you an idea where the screws are for the old regulator/motor. Remove the door panel along with the white plastic sound proofing membrane if installed. Then you need to lower window down 3/4 of the way so you can remove the screws that hold the window to the mechanism. Then pull the window up by hand and secure up with block of wood in door or use a rubber door stop between window and door frame to keep in place. DO NOT LET WINDOW FALL. Then remove four screws that hold regulor guide in place, you will also need to remove 3 screws from motor. If the motor is riveted in place you will need to drill these out first ( replace with screws on reassembly that come with new mechanism). Disconnect electrical plug from motor and reach inside door panel and rotate entire assembly towards the back of the vehicle to get it out the tiny hole. It will fit through as assembled. Installation of new unit is basically the opposite except after you have the regulator and motor installed with screws, reconnect the electrical plug so you can lower the window clamp into position (about 3/4 down). Then remove wood or stopper from window and lower by hand into positon of the regulator clamp. Secure with two screws and your done. Takes less than an hour.
AnswerThere are two screws at the bottom of the door and one above the tweeter. One behind the grab handle and one behind the door lock. The whole panel lifts a little and comes out; none of those old fashioned clips that would always break. the power lock panel lifts from the back. Pull the panel towards you and you will see the two levers that need to be released. Unclip the tweeter and your panel is free. Once you remove the two screws holding the window to the regulator (10mm bolts) you can lift it all the way then put a screwdriver through the top right panel hole to secure it. Do not remove all the bolts, there are some that have keyhole holes. leave the bolts in, loosen them and slide the motor and track over. This will help greatly when it is time to replace everything. you can put the bolts in if you took them out. I found that the cable on mine had jumped the track inside the motor and came off the top pulley. The bottom half round can be removed easily and allows the slide to slide completely off the track. My cable had broken the plastic piece and came out of the anchor. Also, the notches in the pulley allow the cable to be rethreaded into its path. three tiny screws hold the cover over the screw where the cable winds. follow the path and figure out which one needs to be wound around the screw and which one gets one wind only. to get the screw/pulley back into its housing I used a thick screwdriver up from the bottom to position, hold, and then lever into place, compressing the springs almost completely. replace everything and test. Voila $200 saved.Lift up the rug /mat in the console. remove the screw holding it down. They pop out easily once the panel is lifted up.

How do i dis assemble a roll up window handle?
Push in on the door panel around the handle. Use 2 flat screwdrivers to push the metal clip off the handle. Do this looking from the knob end of the handle. Have a friend to catch the clip as it flies far when it hits concrete.
.... use an old rag behind the handle to snag the clip. (move the rag around)
How do you roll up a power window manually?
You must use a 12 volt power supply(I.e battery charger) to "hot wire" wires going to motor. If possible, unplug the wires going in to motor and jump the terminals. If plug is not accessible you may need to carefully shave insulation off wire to expose a contact point. If the window doesn't move at first, remember its d/c. Switching the hot and ground will run the window in opposite directions.
Why won't Landcruiser electric window go up?
There could be corrosion in the switch, or the electrical circuit may have failed in the wiring somewhere. The motor could be bad, or there could be something mechanical blocking the window.
What could cause the power windows to not work on a Ford Taurus - Mercury Sable?
If it is a fuse, and you replace it, it may blow again indicating a short in the wiring.
If all the windows stopped working at the same time check your fuses. If not it maybe the window regulator and / or motor inside the door panel
Check the fuses
If you can hear the window motor running, then the regulator is bad.
You should by a new window regulator , not the motor. take your old motor off the old regulator and replace the old regulator, its off track for a reason, ....Its worn and damaged.
