How do you fix your brake lights when they won't turn off?
Probably a brake light switch problem. May be able to adjust, or may need to replace.
I just replaced the brake light switch in my 1998 Mazda Protege LX and the problem came back. I believe the cruise control could be shorting out the brake light switch.
Will an engine from a 1996 Ford Explorer fit a 2000 explorer?
I'm not a mechanic / technician , but if you mean the 4.0 liter EFI , V6
engine , I would say ( no )
From what I have read there are ( 3 ) different engine blocks for the Ford
4.0 liter EFI , V6 engine ( which is an Over Head Valve / pushrod design engine )
( 1991 to 1994 Ford Explorer )
( 1995 and 1996 Ford Explorer )
( 1997 to 2000 Ford Explorer )
Where is the oil dipstick for a 1997 Suzuki sidekick 1.8 leter located on the motor?
it is in the dip stick tube.
you only have one in a manual shift and 1 or 2 in an auto.
pull them both if auto. the one that is dark brown (not red) is the engine oil.
look in glove box read operators guide.
RTFM
The previous answer is from some smart-alec who has no clue.
Real Answer:No, there is NO DIPSTICK TUBE on the 1.8 L I4 Engine. The dipstick passes down through the cylinder head, into the engine block. Look for the dipstick on the passenger side of the valve cover (same side as the air filter) about half way from the front to the rear of the engine. Unfortunately, the bright yellow plastic dipstick handle BREAKS OFF the Dipstick, leaving just a little yellow around the dipstick, inside the hole, that the dipstick is inserted into.
Get yourself a good pair of needle-nose pliars, and pull the dipstick out of the hole. The o-ring that keeps junk out of the engine (a good thing) makes this job more difficult. Take the dipstick, and drill a hole through the top-end of the metal, and put a loop of bailing wire through it (seriously) to make a handle that won't break, until you can get to the dealer and get a new dipstick. The dealer near me seems to be going through about one dipstick a week (two weeks in a row, when I called, they told me they just sold their last one, but they keep them in stock, and get replenishments weekly).
Why does your 2002 alero shake when you press on the break?
Warped rotor. You will have to remove it and have it trued or replaced. Replace the pads at the same time. Do both front wheels.
What year model of Jaguar between 1990 and 2004 is the most reliable and problem free?
Jaguar and "problem free" don't seem to be realistic words to use in the same sentence. They are stylish vehicles, but not very practical. 1990-1994.5 XJ's (both XJ6 & XJ12) are known as XJ-40's, and where blessed with numerous little headaches, Lucas electrical componets and the poorly designed door handle components are the most notorious. Then Ford Motor Company purchased Jaguar from British Leyland and the quality improved dramatically. So my OPINION is to look at 1994 1/2 models or newer for a daily driver. They are known as the XJ-300's and have had NO recalls and an EXCELLENT safety record. The are comfortable but not very fuel efficient. BUT as with most luxury imports, service and parts are expensive. There are MANY websites and Cyberstores to purchase parts and tools for the DIY'ers.
What type transmission fluid on a 2002 ford exploer?

The power window motor/regulater on these cars are a cable based system .....when the window is slow to go up or down it means the cables are Rusting out and need replacing......OR if not rusty try oiling the cables on back of slider......NOTE:(( you can buy from the dealer or get an aftermarket at about half the price)).....this isn't all that hard to do ....First remove the inside door skin ....this is done by first removeing the screws behind the inside door handle ,,then use a flat screw driver to GENTLY pop the skin off ...working aroud the edge of the door. ...next reach in and unplug the power window and lock plugs and remove the skin......once this is done there are four screws that keep the motor in place 2 on bottom and 2 on top...you may have to move window down a bit to see top 2 screws ....NOTE use a shim to keep window from falling down when you remove screws...don;t want to let that window drop....once the screws are out you can remove the old assembly by manuevering it out thru the holes in door.....the window will have no support at this stage....REMEMBER to shim window ......replace with new assembly and do everything in reverse order... good luck .....takes about an hour
Take a ruler and measure 6 wide by 8 long and there you will see your 6x8.

I own a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport. I have fuel getting in your oil what may cause this to happen?
a leaky injector or a cylinder that is not firing dose your fuel pressure bleed off when the jeep is sitting if so check your fuel pressure after the jeep is shut off if it falls off then find the rubber fuel line to the fuel rail and get the jeep running to aquire fuel pressure and turn the jeep off and quickly clamp the rubber fuel line off if the fuel pressure still falls off it is an injector bleeding pressure
Why wont the brake lights on the 2002 explorer xls turn off?
Chances are you have a defective brake light switch. The switch should be found under the dash touching the upper part of the brake pedal lever. I would unplug it , see that the lights are off, and circuit test both sides. Most auto parts stores have these. I hope this helps you. Mark
This can be caused by a sticky brake pedal that does not retract fully to the original position. It happened to me and the solution was to spray some silicone or w40 on the rubber boot that is found under the steering wheel.
Perhaps a bad fan motor?
Perhaps a bad fan resistor?
Perhaps a plugged evaporator coil?
a crappy car. my 99 beetle has the same problem. brake light switch new, bulbs and fuses new. brake lights just work whenever the heck they want. this is one of the many reasons my car has a for sale sign in the window. good luck.
How do you tell if the head is cracked on a 1995 Chevy Corsica?
Look at your oil filler cap see if there is a tan foamy looking substance usually means water/anti freeze is in your oil. Pull spark plugs and check and see if any plug is wet with water. When driving see if there is white smoke coming from your exhaust. These are all the quick and easy checks, another method is to purchase and exhaust gas detector to use in your cooling system, you put it on your radiator fill tube and if there are any exhaust gases present the chemical in the detector will change color. Another good trouble shooting source is an online tech source called ALLDATA.COM the service cost $14.95 a year but it is so well worth it, with this servcie there is nothing you can not do. T HEMPLE
DO THIS ONLY ON EMERGENCIES!!
You should CAREFULLY get under the SUV, close to where the spare is supposed to be (the rear part of the vehicle) and then look for the plastic covered (or not) steel wire that pulleys the spare down and cut it.
BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL because just right after you do this the spare tire will fall down to the floor.
Obviously i wouldn't recommend doing this if its not an emergency, because the levering system that rolls the spare tire up and down will be screwed after you do this and you would need to replace it in order to get it functional again.
If its not an emergency then do this.
Go to the nearest Pep boys and ask anyone there what to do. They will be able to fix it up or to replace the whole system in no time.
You do not listen to the idiot up above, you do not cut anything. You take the jack arm from under the hood and above the license plate there is a hole where you insert jack arm and turn.
How do you replace solenoid on Ford Explorer?
its in the engine compartment on the passenger side about mid way its a little metal box with 2 wires bolted on the box is mounted to the passenger firewall with 3 7mm screws real easy to change
What would cause sparks and flames to come out of the tailpipe of your car?
The engine is getting more fuel than your ingnition system can light causing raw fuel to be dumped into the exhaust.I would suggest you have a mechanic check for fuel injectors staying open,if that is not the problem have an analysis done on your ignition system to check primarily your spark.Make sure you get your vehicle checked as soon as possible, this is extremly dangerous.
My experience is with a 2002 Impala so this may not apply, however since I had an identical problem and it is a GM product also, here goes: The fuel level sending unit had corroded, bent, contacts. My unit was inside the gas tank and requires quite a bit of work to remove. A very helpful website for this is www.impalahq.com
On an air brake system what do you do when the low psi warning light comes on?
if low PSI warning comes on, you need to get vehicle off the road. low PSI means u have low air, or an air leak. this also means you are going to run out of air that operates the brakes
when this happens, the brakes lock on and you ain't going anywhere
warning will come on with enough time to get vehicle to side of road
if you drive a 379 pete and the warning is on and your psi is normal. check the low air switches they are behind the pannel in front of the clutch and brake pedal they are usually corroded
AnswerIt depends on WHEN the low PSI warning light came on.
If I was driving and the light came on, that means one of two things: I've got a massive leak somewhere in the air system and it just happened, or the belt to the air compressor broke AND I've got a leak in the system. In either case, pull over before your spring brakes activate. Those will stop you, but they won't turn the brake lights on so there's a chance you'll get rear-ended. Once you're stopped, shut down, get out and listen for the hissing sound. (Most people who get this light while driving ran over a recap, so try to dodge those, okay?)
If it came on while I'm backing into a really complex hole that needs a lot of braking, that's normal. I'd just put the truck in neutral and rev it up a little to build some pressure in the brake system.
Changing brakes on a 2003 Aztec?
That's a really loaded question for a short response. Most modern cars use electronic antilock systems that can be damaged if simple pad replacements are not done correctly. If you don't know how to do this type of job, you are probably safer and better off paying a professional to do it for you. Brakes are nothing to get wrong... For help in finding a good mechanic, take a look at the related links for some tips that may help.
How do you swap a 4.3 liter motor with a 5.7 liter motor?
well apparently a 4.3 litre is a 5.7 with two less cylinders. It's bored out the same as a 350 and so I've beeen told all you need is a 350 engine a new computer and new wiring for the engine and the engine will bolt rright up to your transmission painlessperformance.com and advanceadapters.com has motor mounts for a 350 if you need them hope this helped
How to reset trip meter after oil change on 2002 mercury mountaineer?

The easiest way is to go to a parts store and purchase the tool made for screwing down the piston. I think it's like $10 for the cheap one and you just put it on the end of a ratchet. You can fit it in the small grooves on the piston and turn clockwise and it will go down.
You can also use the wrench for removing the nut on most grinders. The one from a DeWalt grinder works perfect.
AnswerI haven't worked on one before, but I'd be tempted to back off the brake fluid bleed screw and see if I can retract the piston then.I replaced the rear pad's on my 2000 ls and there is a square box tool that's supost to fit inside the piston and the you use a ratchit to turn it in I went and bought the tool that's supost to fit but it didn't work so used a rag and channel locks to turn it in
Answerthey screw in..turn and apply presure helpful hinti just replaced the rear brake pads on my wifes 2002 Lincoln ls. i loosend the bleeder screw a little and used channel locks to turn the piston down. didn't look like it was working at first, then it started going down real easy. i almost had to learn the hard way! be careful not to tear the rubber boot around the piston, take your time it will work. i didn't have to apply pressure the piston and i didn't have to fool with the emergency brake line.P.S. There is a tool that you can usually borrow from your local autoparts store. It turns and presses the piston at the same time. I worked for three hours trying to get mine to compress and finally went to get the tool. It only took about ten mins per wheel after I had the tool. It is worth it. you could do it in their parking lot pretty much. ~good luck~
How do you fix a fuel fail code 24 problem on a 92 xj-6 jaguar?
The ignition amplifier is bad or the connection is corroded.
The part is easy to get to, and is easily replaceable, but I would not suggest trying to test it yourself unless you know how to use a voltmeter.
If you want to replace it I would first buy a Haynes manual and follow the instructions (they have pictures)!
Good luck!
