Depends on the year of the Tracer. You need to figure out if it's the gauge or the cable gone bad. You'll need to remove the whole dash area, which is a royal pain. Remove the speedo cluster, and try moving the car (only a few feet!) to see if the cable that goes into the speedo is spinning. If it isn't, the cable is broken, or the tranny sensor is stripped. If it is, then it's the gauge that needs to be replaced. Sometimes you can find used speedo gauges used on eBay or the likes, otherwise expect the pay hundreds for it! There's also a place online that will rebuild it, you could also try that.

you need to bring down the gas tank as low as possible, the fuel pump will have to be taken out through the top of the tank.

Seat belts are never repaired, replaced only.

Idle the engine, remove the temp sensor wire on the engine and ground it. If the gauge does not move one can assume it has failed.

You buy a new car

1st pull off front wheels, you will see a caliper which houses the brake pads, there are two bolts or pins located on back side of caliper, remove them, then pry caliper off from rotor, remove old pads and before installing new ones, retract the piston on the caliper so it will be easier to reinstall caliper on to brake rotor reistall the 2 bolts and tighten down.

The way to find out ifthe fan worksis to block the radiator off with a sheet of cardboard. That will make it heat up very quickly and you should hear and see the fan kick in. It may still bea fuse or relayissue if it doesn't kick-in and I would start there since they are cheaper to replace then the fan. The Relay should be the the Power Distribution Box (Black Box) under the hood drivers side as may the fuse if there is not one under the dash inside the car. Hope This Helps.

A 4EAT transmission in an Escort/Tracer should take Mercon III. If it takes anything but Mercon III, like Mercon V, it will say it on the dipstick. So if it doesn't say, or just says "Mercon," then it takes Mercon III.

go to a junk yard

There will be a tensioner that has a square ratchet hole by the timing belt cover. Use a breaker bar to pull it towards the front of the car, it should release the tension to remove the belt. You may need a helper to do that. You may want to consider replacing the tensioner as well. They aren't too pricey and sometimes it's recommended.

can't be set. only replaced. and that isn't your problem anyway. replace the crank position sensor, or the fuel pump. then your 1.9 will start.

In the 1995 Tracer's Owner Guide (pages 359-363): It shows the instrument panel fuse panel is: to the left of your clutch (if manual) and under the hood latch handle (the one that pops the hood open) look diagonally down to the left. It's the black looking box.

To the right of the fusebox under dash by your left knee is a 30A circuitbreaker, push the red button in.

4 bolts are romoved from the backsode of the steering wheel. If airbag equipped remove airbag fuse first. Then remove airbag/ horn/ center assembly. Remove large nut from center of wheel, then pull wheel with steering wheel puller.

What year tracer? Some you need special tool to pull bearings and hub as a unit!

It helps if you use the headlight for reference. Also, take note of the position of the parts and how they are lined up as you remove them because installation is the reverse of removal. If you stand over the hood and look at the headlight from the side of the car, you'll notice that there is a black plastic cap that looks like the top of a plastic laundry detergent bottle. It has a couple wires attached to it and is directly behind headlight. Give this a slight twist and it will pop off. You will then be able to see the connector for the bulb. I believe it's blue. Grasp the connector and pull on it and it will come off of the bulb. Follow the end of the bulb up towards the assembly and there will be a plastic ring around the bulb that holds it in place. You will need to give this a twist (I believe to the left) and when it disengages, you can then remove the bulb. When reinstalling the bulb, be sure the slots on the plastic ring are lined up 12 o'clock 6 o' clock when you put the plastic ring back in place.

look for a casing under the hood near your window, it should have a hose plugged in on the top of it, if not sure what it looks like, buy one and you will know... you will see it bolted on a pipe going through the engine to your exhaust i believe... its been a while and i have a 97 2.0L
