If antifreeze puddle on ground from under coolant bucket do i need water pump?

It is possible that the antifreeze is coming from a bad water pump. Clean the engine off. Watch it to see where the antifreeze is leaking from, as it could be a hose instead of the pump.

Ive replaced the water pump the radiator the thermostat so why does your car still heat up you have to add more water every two days?

Find out where you're leaking. Anything that causes the coolant to leak out is cause for concern. Fill the radiator. Leave the radiator cap off and start the engine. Watch for bubbles. If there are quite a few bubbles and the coolant wants to blow out even before the engine gets warm, you might have a head gasket problem.

Does the timing belt need to be removed to change the water pump on a 1994 Galant?

On quite a few of these type vehicles, the answer is yes- but-

You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00

Does water pump affect steering?

It would be possible if the water pump is either leaking coolant on the belt causing it to slip or if the water pump is binding causing the belt to slip

Another answer: Someone I know got 2 opinions that his water pump was going out (leaking). Later, he was on the freeway at 65mph and lost steering. The engine stayed on. He was able to pull over, or the car pulled to the right (bad alignment a good thing?). The repair person said the water pump for 1996 Jeep Cherokee sport helps circulate the power steering fluid.

Replace the thermostaton a 1987 Toyota LE Van?

Probably located at the engine end of the upper radiator hose in a removable housing Drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator Remove housing at end of radiator hose Make note how thermostat is installed Clean both surfaces Replace thermostat and gasket Re-fill coolant slowly to prevent an "airlock" Start engine and look for leaks Run engine to normal operating temperature with heater on Re-check coolant level

Can spar urethane be used over water seal?

Assuming you're talking about wood finishing, spar urethane can be used over a water sealer. In fact, the combination is better than just a sealant or just the spar urethane. A very durable finish for outdoor wood products is soaking the unfinished wood with boiled linseed oil, letting the linseed oil cure, removing excess cured linseed oil, then applying spar urethane.

How do you remove the water pump on a duramax?

It is true that the water pump is a pain to remove. However, I did it without removing the fan pully or the harmonic balancer. The bolts were tough enough to get out with all the extra stuff in the way, Hind sight I wish I had removed at least the fan. But when you don't have the right tool, you jimmy rig it.

I did not need to lock the flywheel, as I didn't need to remove the harmonic balancer. To get the bolt off that was just under the edge of the harmonic balancer, we used a torch to make a small notch just big enough to get a wrench in there and loosen it off.

Then Entire job took 3 hours, plus a little extra for a few beers. ALl in all the job was worth doing myself because the dealer wanted about 700.00 for labour alone. I had to pay 280cnd for the pump itself. But, where else are you going to get it.

the pump iteself can be unbolted and might be able to repair the seal. I have not tried this yet, but I am sure it is possible.

Hope this helps!

If you have to ask, you don't know enough. See a pro.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1998 Chevy Malibu v6 and what tools are needed?

You will need 8mm and 10mm sockets, and wrenches, 1/4 inch rachet and a good size pry tool like a screwdriver. I changed mine without removing the belt. The pump is behind the larger pully on the top front of the 3.1. It is smaller than the pully so you won't see it until you remove the pully. It's not difficult, just watch which way the pump is setting before removing it and put the new one in the same way you can scribe a mark to check alignment before removeal. Be sure to use some type of gasket sealer like Indian head to keep the gasket in place. Good Luck

What are the risks of driving a car with a bad water pump a very short distance?

Define "short" ..... could overheat and ruin the motor as they only hold just over one gal. of coolant so every drop is needed to keep it cool ........

Why is your pool pump leaking water around the bottom whenever it is running even after the two seals inside have been replaced?

It may be leaking at the drain plug located at the bottom of the pump housing. It may be leaking throught the gasket/o-ring that seal the pump cover to the pump housing. The seal may be installed incorrectly. There may be a crack in the pump housing/cover assembly. You may be able to observe water squirting fron the leak by watching the pump while it is running.

What might be the problem with my 2000 Grand Cherokee 4.7L if the temp starts to rise after 10 minutes of driving but not if the truck is in park yet the belt water pump fan clutch and thermostat-new?

The problem might be air. If an air bubble is trapped in the cooling system, coolant is not circulating as it should, since a portion of the closed system is occupied by that air. As a result, what should be a column of coolant is not reaching the coolant temperature sensor. What reaches that sensor instead is hot foam, which does not have the capacity to transmit heat to the sensing portion of the sensor as coolant does. WHAT REACHES THE DASH GAUGE, THEREFORE, IS NOT AN ACCURATE REPRESENTATION OF THE TRUE ENGINE TEMPERATURE. While at idle, the engine is not circulating coolant at the same rate as it circulates at road speeds; therefore, when the vehicle is traveling down the road, more coolant reaches the sensor, and a reading which more accurately depicts actual engine temperature is rendered at the gauge. This is a condition which is harmful to the engine, and is easily cured. It is harmful due to the fact that the air involved routinely finds its way to the uppermost regions of the engine--- most notably the cylinder head--- which heats excessively due to the lack of cooling. The result is a blown head gasket, or a warped head, or a cracked head or block, or any combination of these. At the most severe point, this can lead to the need to replace the engine. It is easily cured through the process of burping and bleeding the cooling system. This involves topping off the coolant on a cold engine, opening a line leading to the heater core, letting the air out of the line, reattaching the line, and starting the engine with the radiator cap removed. The engine should be run until the thermostat begins to open, at which point the cooling system will begin the exchange of coolant between the engine and the radiator. NOTE: THE COOLANT ARRIVING FROM THE ENGINE IS HOT, AND CAN SCALD. CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO STAND BY WITH THE CAP TO THE RADIATOR IN ORDER TO INSTALL IT BACK ONTO THE RADIATOR SHOULD THE FLOW BECOME UNMANAGEABLE. THE OBJECT IS TO ALLOW AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM WHILE THE SYSTEM IS TOTALLY OPEN AND CIRCULATING, AND THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED WHEN THE THERMOSTAT IS OPEN AND THE ENGINE IS RUNNING WITH THE CAP REMOVED FROM THE RADIATOR. Once coolant begins to be drawn from the radiator into the engine by the water pump, the level in the radiator will drop. IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT COOLANT IS ADDED TO THE RADIATOR AND THE THROTTLE IS OPENED WIDER(ACCELERATING THE ENGINE TO A HIGHER RPM) TO FORCE AIR OUT AS IT IS FORCIBLY DISPLACED BY THE TURBULENCE OF INRUSHING COOLANT. Once the radiator level peaks and will hold no more, the cap is installed, and the throttle is allowed to return to its normal position. The next step is to turn the heater on HIGH HEAT, with the fan running, and cycle the accelerator through a repetition of high-low RPM pulses to displace the last bits of air toward the radiator. When full heat is experienced through the heater, the engine is shut down and allowed to "heat soak" until cool. Once cool, the radiator cap is again removed, and the radiator is topped-off. The cap is then replaced. Topping off the recovery tank and replacing its cap completes the process. The cooling system has now been burped and bled, ensuring a solid column of coolant in toto. Happy Motoring...
