start by removeing inside door pannel withe your window in the up possision you will be able to un bolt your backet that hold the motor theres not a lot of room so you will have to be patiant but it dose come out

It may just be off the track, the plastic track will crack from temperature differentiation. Try some culking (like for around a bath tub) when its warm then put it back in, it will dry around the window but not to it and give it a smooth surface to glide up and down on and culking wont freeze or melt like plastic or the double sided tape stuff they put in there factory
check by drivers door in the bellows between the hinges almost 100%sure there will be broken wire(s)

some replacements have been discontinued and are replaced with other switches that require re-arranging the wires in the harness plug. inside the box the switch came inshould have a chart to place colored wires in other cavities (example blue wire from A to cavity E etc.) hope this helps.

Pull the three screws from the door panel. Pull the door panel up and off. It has a couple of hooks at the bottom that will come out when you pull the whole thing up. Don't worry about pulling the wiring loose just pull a couple of the plastic retainers out so you have more room to work. Pull the sound insulation (starting at the bottom) loose about a foot up and tape it out of the way. Swing the door panel back toward the rear of the door and hook the top on the door lock. Remove two of the 5/16ths screws holding the motor on. One through a small hole, and the other through a triangle already cut in the door frame. The third is a trick to get to. You can use a small wrench from the bottom but I drilled a hole in the door frame so I could get a socket in. Reach in and pull the motor loose by shaking it. It is still attached by a rivet that you'll have to drill out but pull it loose so you know which rivet to drill.

I would work on it as if I was replacing the window...remove the door panel and inspect all the window track mounting points.. also, with the door panel off you'll be able to raise and lower the window, and see if there is anything obviously broken, or loose that may be the cause.. your local library should have a shop manual available in the reference section, that you can make copies of the important pages...also a store bought Haynes type manual may help with the basics to the mechanism..good luck :)

sometimes the motors get "stuck" from not being used,try and hold the window in the down position while slamming door of window that's not working to free up the motor. general motors i thnink had a bulletin about it

Good question, I have a 98 and my drivers window will not work at all, and I can roll the rest up and down, but not the rear drivers, I can roll it down but you have to roll it up from the back seat.
About the only place to get something like that would be the dealership.

You need to replace it. I ran into the problem a month ago. I removed the door panel and noticed the cable all stretched out. It's hard to find parts but located one on line. If you have a mechanic have the mechanic install the regulator. Dob't attempt it yourself if you are not familiar with it. It looks simple and i attempted it and it ended up costing me an additiona 400 dollars espicially when I damaged the lock. good luck
the above answer is bull.. its kind of hard, but if you are patient and can follow instructions i suggest checking out the how-to section of www.techcapri.com and there is an illustrated step by step guide on how to do it. make sure you use the right tools and follow their instructions. the one exception i made was that when it came to re-mounting the motor, i couldn't get an epoxy that would hold bolts onto it so i used zipties.. just make sure you tighten them reeeeaaaally tight, otherwise the motor will still sometimes swing out and block the window from going down.
or if it is on track the cable linkig might have snapped my 95 did same on driver window

Your best bet if you can't find it from a google search (and you rarely can) is to pick up a haynes or chiltons manual. The wiring diagrams can usually be found in the back of the books.
this happened to my grandmas buick. Im not saying this is the correct answer but in her car the motor was weaker then it was suppose to be, and the window had moved out of its track in the door.

the hot wire going to the d/s master switches is brown. the ground is black. if all windows are not working you have broken wire(s) that go from the door into the cabin. open door and pull boot back leading to the inside. you will prob. find the black ground and or other wires broken in there
The problem is typically in the driver's side master power window switch. In most cases it can be easily fixed by removing the switch, unclipping the switch in the middle to pull it apart and cleaning the contacts with alcohol.
1) Insert fine tipped screwdriver into the highest part of the switch and pry it away from where it is mounted. Pull the switch upwards and disconnect the 2 or 3 push-in connectors. They will come out easily once you smash in the connector tab on the top of each one.
2) Take the switch to a table to work on it. Upside-down, you will see 3-4 small squares with plastic clips on the inside of them. Insert the screwdriver between the upper and lower plasctic housing to separate the clips from one side, then the other. This will give you access to the inside of the switch. Most switches have springs and connectors that fall out, but this switch does not. It has a large rubber pad and operates more like a calculator by smashing down the rubber buttons to make contact.
3) Remove the rubber pad, making note of which direction it will go back on. If you put it back upside down, nothing will work. Take a paper towel or Q-tip and clean both sides of the connections thoroughly with alcohol, or another quick drying solvent. NOT and oil like WD-40. You will probably see a small amount of moisture and this is where the problem comes from.
4) Reverse this procedure and reinstall your switch and you should be back in business. I have done this in 3 different vehicles, and it worked every time. There is still a chance there is moisture in the switch of the door that the window rolls up or down on, so you may have to go a little further and remove the individual switch too, but not normally. Wire expands when hot and contracts when cold. Dust makes this problem worse. Try spraying potentiometer cleaner... or electronic tuner cleaner (*** Not WD-40***) into the window controls on the drivers side. If you know how , or are mechanically inclined; pull the module out carefully and wiggle and clean the contacts from the under side.
