The 93 Caprice could be losing fuel pressure. Check the fuel filter and the pressure to see if the pump could be bad.

Code P1491 means Rad fan control relay circuit. on a 2002 Ram check the fuse for the ac condenser. it is a 25 am fuse and it is located in row closest to rad and closest to engine. if fuse is blown it will look a milky colour.I know this for a fact as I just had to change mine as it had blown. The condenser fan motor is probably going bad and that is what blows the fuse.

Two choices: 1. Disconnect your battery for 1 minute. 2. Driver over to an autoparts store who lends out "code readers" and use that to erase the code. Number one is the easy since it requires no driving, but it will erase the station presets on your car radio. Number two allows you to erase and then pull any codes again, if they are there. It will read the old code and any newer ones, in this way, you will know if there is a new problem.

Fix the problem, or, disconnect the battery for a short while.

Assuming the check engine light?

Comes on when the computer (ECM) does it's self test and finds a component out of the specified range. Also detects engine misfires, trany problems on some vehicles as well as a variety of other problems.

Turn the key off, then off. The ABS codes are nor cleared and the light off unless a problem has been detected again.

If the problem is detected again, check for ABS codes.

Not that most common problems are bad speed sensor or bad control module.

hold your trip odometer button for a few sec. while the car is off and turning the key to II position.

The secondary air injection system is used to heat you vehicle's catalytic converter to temperatures suitable for burning off harmful emission gases. It basically pumps oxygen into the exhaust pipe, which allows the converter to reach temperatures of 500+ degrees.

Pull the codes that set it, fix the problem & clear the codes. As it's an OBD2 system a scanner is the easiest way, but some can be done manually by jumping certain terminals in the diagnostic connector. Library might have a book or local parts supplier might have the procedure on their computer (Mitchell, Alldata, Shopkey) at no charge.

To reset your service light here are the steps.

1. Get in your car and shut the door.

2. Put your key in the ignition

3. Turn your ignition key to position 1

4. Push in your Odometer reset button and hold it in while holding it move the ignition key to position 2 while holding down the odometer reset button.

5. After couple of seconds of holding the button down and the key in position 2 your service light will start to blink once that happens let go of the reset button and start the car.

This should reset your service light and a service light on your Volvo C/S/V70 cars from 1999 onwards.

I had the hood open when my Acura did this and heard a slight hissing from the Fuel-Injector. Then the "check engine" light clicked off and the engine fired right up. I'm working on a 1990 integra did the same thing and I have to say there is a loose connection in the Main relay it's under the kick panel under the steering wheel 10mm bolt burnt brown color it will say something like mitsuba Main relay good luck =)

Normally on these b series trucks the check engine like might come on due to the egr valve being dirty or time for service.There is a green and white plug on the truck under the dash(kick panel side) above the flasher relay and door chime.The green plug may be hanging there close to the white plug that is hooked up.Simply unhook the white plug from the connector and swap the green plug to the original plug and in most cases the light will reset and go off.This happens at 60k and every time after that and swapping the wires plugs fixes it.Unless there is a issue with some other emissions part this normally fixes it.I would remove your egr and clean it with carb cleaner and note the metal gaskets position and dig out the carbon with a brush or flat head screw driver.It has 3 ten mm bolts,one vac line,one electrical plug and mounted below the carburator at a angle.It is about as big as a baseball roughly.

Most auto parts outlets will have a code reader to check why it came on in the first place. Ask them to reset the check engine light at that time. Most will do this for free in hopes to sell you the parts to fix the problem. Or you can buy your own scanner from Wal-mart ($50.00-$60.00) and do it yourself. BUT EITHER WAY YOU WILL NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR IT WILL JUST KEEP COMMING ON AND YOU COULD BE DAMAGING YOUR TRUCK.

with a odb 2 scanner, you can go to autozone or advance auto parts and they can do it for free. It gives a code then you look the code up and it shows you possiblities for that certain code

There are three ways I know of: 1. Disconnect the battery for a couple of hours, and hope it goes out and doesn't come back on. 2. Take it to a dealership or service shop and pay way more than you should. 3. Take it to a parts store. Some stores will clear it for free

your gas cap isn't on correctly take it off and put it back on correctly

This light turns on 5000 miles after its last reset, it indicates your car needs an oil change.

Set odometer to "trip A".

Turn the key back "off".

Press and hold the odometer button and keep held.

Turn the key back"on" (engine off) and the odometer will turn to dashes.

Keep holding the button until the numbers return.

The light is now reset.

You should take the car to a car shop for a check-up if you don't know what's wrong. The check engine light could mean any number of rather inocuous things, such as the failure of one of fifty various sensors that monitor engine performance, or it could be something very serious. In any event, the vehicle's computer has determined that the vehicle needs attention soon. That's what the check engine light is for; it'll go off when the problem is fixed. You don't want your car to die in the middle of a highway.

Many of the larger chain Auto parts stores, such as Advance Auto Parts or Autozone (as well as many service shops) will use a scanner to read the OBD II (On-Board Diagnostic System II) codes and interpret them free of charge. If your vehicle is somewhat older, it may use the OBD I system, and the codes can be read directly from the dashboard -- the procedure is similar for most vehicles, but check an automotive manual to be sure:

Turn the key to the on position, without starting the engine, and then back to the off position three times, and then turn it to the on position and leave it there. The 'check engine' light should blink out a series of codes. Write down the pattern of flashes and then look up the codes using the automotive service manual for your vehicle (or from an online source). Haynes and Chilton's are the most popular and available brands of service manuals. Haynes in particular publishes concise and inexpensive manuals (less than $15) for most automobiles.

Most vehicles will re-set warnings if the computer loses power for a prolonged period of time; disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes will usually cancel the fault and force the check engine light off. It will remain off for a few hundred miles, until the engine has re-established enough data to know, once again, that there is indeed something wrong. But, of course this is not recommended, as it usually deletes the stored fault codes, and will make diagnosis of the true cause difficult until the fault codes reappear.

In any case, the best solution is to have the vehicle serviced. A vehicle owner who is more concerned about a light on their dashboard than the potential damage to their vehicle that it represents may soon have need of a bicycle.

The flashing check engine light means there is one or more cylinder misfires occuring.Have the codes pulled from the computer to determine which cylinder(s) are misfiring.
