Why do you get water in your trunk of your 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback?
If I did it would be because there is a flaw in the gasket that seals the trunk lid. To find it take a flashlight and have an assistant with keys close you in the trunk. Have your assistant run water from a hose over the trunk lid while you look at the seal from inside. You will find your leak.
How do you replace the water pump on a 1992 Buick Park Avenue ultra with the 3.8 supercharged v6?
My PA is a 91 and not supercharged - but, according to the Haynes Manual (and actual experience) I had to; 1 jack up the engine 2 disconnect the passenger-side engine mount COMPLETELY LOOSE 3 remove and replace the water pump 4 re-attach the engine mount note; the engine mount is TIGHT and must be replaced tight! Have FUN!
It probably bent the valves. Call a dealer and ask if it is an iterference engine. If so it probably bent valves. You can run a compresson test to verify. 1992 LS400 is not an interference engine. It is unlikely that the valve train was damaged by losing the timing belt. Assuming the engine didn't run hot long enough to do damage, the timing is probably off. The timing belt needs to be checked to ensure that the timing marks are properly aligned. Ignition problems could also be to blame, but I would check timing first. Just for info, interference engines were installed late 1994 and newer.

2. Drain coolant...if new save and reuse. If not replace it with premix 50/50 antifreeze. You can mix your own but for convienence use the 50/50.
3. Remove air cleaner (if located in the way), and remove Radiator overflow tank.
4. Remove serpentine belt and tensioner...(rotate tensioner counter clockwise to release belt tension (write down routing of belt before removing)and remove the belt fromthe auxillary components and slowly release the tensioner. On 3.1 and 3.4L engines remove tensioner retaining bolt and detach tensioner assembly from the engine.
5. Remove alternator and its brackets (AC compressor if necessary)
6. Remove small belt guard just above water pump (on 3.1L)
7. Remove water pump mounting bolts (around the perimeter of the pump- approximately 5 of them) and remove the pump. If it is stuck tap with a SOFT-face hammer GENTLY!!!
8. clean fastener threads and any threaded holes in the engine to remove corrosion and sealant. Remove any residual gasket material left on block.
Use Lacquer thinner or acetone to clean the engine and water pump surfaces that will come into contact with each other.
Apply NEW gasket if not attached to H2O pump
Installation is:1. Attach pump and gasket to eng block and start the bolts finger tight Tighten in 1/4 turn increments to torque Torque for 3.1 and 3.4L is 89 in-lbs....THIS IS NOT VERY HARD!!! TIGHTEN WITH SOCKET AND RACHET TILL 1/2 TURN PAST TIGHT!!!!!
2. reinstall all parts you took off to get to this darn thing.
This project is best done with at least two friends and a whole lot of your choice of alcoholic beverage. Have Fun!!
How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 Chrysler Concorde 3.5L?
the water pump is driven by the timing belt, so the front of the engine must come off, including radiator, fans, belts, pulleys, timing belt cover, etc. the timing belt removed (making sure cams do not rotate, water pump can then be changed. 4 bolts i think. its just a pain to get to it, then when you put the belt back on, you must put the belt tensioner back on correctly. best way is to remove it, compress it in a vise then insert the proper pin to hold the spring back while you bolt it back on. the spring is very strong and will bend bailing wire or mechanics wire, so do not use that. use the proper pin...call the dealer or parts dealer for info on this. A cheapy chiltons manual explains it fairly well if your a decent mechanic. if your not comfortable doing all this, take it to a shop that is.

How do you replace the water pump on a Infiniti J30?
How do you remove/replace a water pump on a 1996 Infiniti J30? Remove radiator hoses. Remove induction tubing for the air filter. Remove the fan and all belts. Remove timing belt cover. Remove and replace thermostat at same time as pump. The water pump is BEHIND the timing belt. The timing belt will need replacing at this time to obtain access to the pump. I tried to replace mine on the side of the road in emergency situation by prying the timing belt out of the way. It worked, but I damaged the belt and the tensioner. And thusly, had to go back and replace those too. But common sense in the labor department: Replace the thermostat, water pump, fan blades and fan clutch, ALL radiator hoses, bypass hoses and clamps, radiator and belts at the same time. I have 250k on my J30, and these have all needed replacing eventually.
Because there is too much detail to properly give instructions. A manual costs about eleven dollars and is more specific to your vehicle and has all the details plus pictures, plus you will have it handy for any other future repairs. If you can't afford a manual, I recommend checking your local library to see if there is one available for checkout.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix?
When replacing a water pump, it is necessary to drain the cooling system. Any components--belts, fan, fan shroud, shaft spacers, or viscous drive clutch--should be removed to make the pump accessible. Some pumps are attached to the cylinder block as shown below. Installing a water pump. Courtesy of Dana Corporation. Loosen and remove the bolts in a crisscross pattern from the center outward. Insert a rag into the block opening and scrape off any remains of the old gasket. WARNING When working on the coolant system (for example, replacing the water pump or thermostat), a certain amount of coolant will spill on the floor. The antifreeze in the coolant causes it to be very slippery. Always immediately wipe up any coolant that spills to reduce or eliminate the chance of injury. When replacing a water pump, always follow the procedures recommended by the manufacturer. Most often a coating of good waterproof sealer should be applied to a new gasket before it is placed into position on the water pump. Coat the other side of the gasket with sealer, and position the pump against the engine block until it is properly seated. Install the mounting bolts and tighten them evenly in a staggered sequence to the torque specifications with a torque wrench. Careless tightening could cause the pump housing to crack. Check the pump to make sure it rotates freely. The water pumps on many late-model OHC engines are driven by the engine's timing belt. When replacing the water pump on these engines, always replace the timing belt. Make sure all pulleys and gears are aligned according to specifications when installing the belt.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1995 Pontiac Firebird 3.4L V6?
Not a terribly difficult job, but takes a while to get to. You'll need a power steering pump pulley puller and a combination of metric and standard wrenches, sockets, and a set of vice grips. Parts needed are a water pump and gasket, any additional hoses and hose clamps if you're replacing those, and a new thermostat is you are replacing that (good idea to replace it all since you're already in there, especially if the car has overheated). Parts price list: Water Pump : @ $40 new Throttle body gasket : @$10 Thermostat : a few bucks gasket sealant : a few bucks Replacement hoses and clamps : $20-30 depending on what you replace. New coolant/radiator flush kit : $20 1. Drain the system of coolant using the petcock located at the bottom passenger side of the radiator. 2. Unscrew the air intake assembly from the throttle body and the airbox and remove from car. 3. If you don't plan on replacing the thermostat at the same time, skip this step. The thermostat housing is located directly below the throttle body and is a paint to get to unless you remove the throttle body. Remove the cover to the throttle cable assembly, disconnect the throttle cables (there are two of them), and unscrew the throttle body. Remove any hoses attached to the throttly body and remove it. Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses. Remove the two bolts from the thermostat housing and lift the housing to expose the thermostat. The new thermostat just drops in where the old one went. There is no gasket, as this thermostat utilizes a rubber seal. Reattacht he thermostat housing. 4. Remove the drivebelt. After you have removed the drivebelt, remove the belt tensioner as well as there is abolt behind this that you will need to access. 5. Remove the power steering pump pulley with the puller. Also remove the pulley on the water pump. Since the pulley will turn, it helps if you have an oil filter strap wrench and a friend to keep the pulley immobile while you lossen the bolts. 6. Unplug the spark plugs (taking note of where they go) and unplug the electrical connectors from the coil pack assembly. Remove the bottom coil pack to access a hidden bolt to the power steering pump bracket. 7. Remove the power steering pump bracket. This will come off as one piece with the coil pack assembly attached. 8. Remove the heater core bypass hose that goes to the water pump. 9. Remove the water pump. After you have removed all of the bolts, you may need to persuade the pump by tapping it with a rubber mallet. If you don't have a rubber mallet, you can place a block of wood on the pump and hit the block of wood with a hammer. 10. Clean the engine where the water pump will attach of any residue and gasket material. Be sure not to scratch the mating surface here. Carb cleaner and a rag works well for this. 11. Installation is the reverse of removal. Now is also a good time to flush your radiator, replace the hoses with new ones, and also inspect and replace (if necessary) the coolant temperature sensor located directly behind the coil packs. I think that covers just about everything you have to remove. Might have missed an inconsequential item here or there. Make sure everything is plugged back in (coil packs, coolant temp sensor, IAC valve, TPS sensor) and that all hoses are reattached correctly. When you refill the system, let it run for awhile with the radiator cap off and the heat blowing full blast to remove any air bubbles from the system. Keep an eye on the temp gauge.

There is no reason to change the water pump, unless it is leaking engine coolant.
If you have a overheating problem then it is something else that's wrong,
Thermostat, stoped up radiator. Bad fan clutch. These are a few things you can check.
